    Well, just so you know, I was running about 20-30K myself untill I hit about the 30% part, now I bounce between 75 and 125.  I have no doubt it will be done before the servers are ready.

     

    It amazes me that Mythic gave us a little extra bonus and people STILL want to cry about how its done.....

    People will have the same problems during OB I'm sure.  They promised CE Pre-orders access, thats exactly what your getting.  Access.  If you don't have the paitence to DL the client, nobody is going to hold a gun to your head to force you to do it.

     

    So, you have exactly what they told you, access to the CB.  Up to you if you use it or not.

    How is it our fault? Its their fault, they put up a 10gb client with 3 seeders at 10kb in total.

    For letting people that pre-order their CE and telling those people that they can play in the beta, head start and everything else. By giving those people a crappy way to download 10gigs without seeders is ridiculous.  I used torrents for years now and NEVER had any problems downloading something EVER. Getting speeds up to 30kb/s to download 10 gigs. I will wait till Retail version is out.

    I hate to see the speeds of future patches  of WAR, if this continues as it is.

    My question, is this torrent grabage the only way we can get the client or are they just offering this to people that want to play the min the servers go up? This seems totally rediculous to try and distribute a 10GB file and rely on some p2p file sharing network. Like most people I have a basic broadband connection so I'm not going to bog it down for 2 weeks to get a beta. I sure hope they plan on having some type of resonable way to get the open beta client later. I don't really care when i get into the beta but I'm not going to spend 2 weeks dling it at 10kbps.

    I dont know what it might be, im no techie, but the folks getting a very low d/l rate must be doing something wrong cause mine is doing just fine.

    Hmm...maybe it's only my pc but when I did the patcher I was doing like 300+kb/s my average kb/s is like 1000t hough so maybe I just have a faster computer? Anyways gl with your week of torrents... Also I heard that if you open some certain ports it becomes alot faster on  the patching...

    Welcome to the internet v2 boys and girls.

    I'm suprised you're just noticing this now, up in northern california we've been seeing an internet slowdown for almost 6 months. Where I used to be able to get 2mb/s downloads just about anywhere I have a computer, they all seem to be limited at a max 150kb/s now, although usually 30kb is the normal limit.

    Either way, this is going on behind the scenes, it is the cable companies, deal with it, the age of the free internet is over.

    I've been downloading with Bit Torrent for the last 12 hrs averaging 65kb. I'm only 30% downloaded and have another 26hrs of downloading to go!

    Besides what the OP said, is there anyway to download faster?

    To start it off, I have grown fond of reading the WAR forums.  There has been a large number of threads that are intelligent, witty and well...'readable'.  I have found that the audience and the posters are mature, recognize and despise whiners found in other forums and have successfully kept most of their threads cheese-free. 

    However,

    It seems that the newest waves of WAR CB invites has caused a stir within the WAR forums....a sickly-green odorous cloud hangs on every thread...and I see only the cloud to thicken as we get closer to launch.

    Granted, I'm a SE pre-orderer...I anticipate my opportunities to join the fray just as much as the next guy.  I've been following the WAR development path for quite some time and I'm anxious to jump in...however, I am patient and will allow things to unfold as they unfold and access to open as it becomes available to me.  Nothing more, nothing less. 

    Now this cloud...emerald in it's disease....

    I am appalled at some of the recent threads that have developed since the waves of invites going out.  Posters are screaming out for justice on slow download speeds that will give them access to servers that are currently down (for a week).  They're screaming, ranting, stomping their feet and whining because they feel they have been disserviced by slow download speeds and the lack of alternative download solutions. 

    This 'download'...a surprise...a gift...a little something extra to the community...and yet, it's still not good enough...still taken like a spoiled toddler ripping through gift wrapping and not appreciating a thing about what lies inside.  Had the wrapping been any prettier, the gift any more suitable....perhaps a smile...a 'thanks,  Mythic"...a nod of satisfaction....instead...

    "If I can't get more than #.#/kbs, I'm gonnna cancel my pre-order (insert whine here)"    

    "Why am I getting no Seeders? (whine)Why did Mythic only allow 1 way to download the client? (whine)"

    "I wasted 100 bucks! (BIG WHINE)"

    *fears the impending notion this may not be the WAR forum...in fact...figures it could be two options...AOC or WoW*

     I used the torrent recently to reinstall for several reasons and was getting about 175kbps so the torrent is fast. Mind you I know the prime DL times and such. You can manage your downloads to make it go faster.

    There are a few of those as you mentioned in the red areas but I think the majority of folks just want to make sure they get the files as soon as they can and would just like to be there 'at the beginning' (relative term, I know). Unfortunately with torrents there's no way to speed it up other than to have more folks seed.

    Sometimes boosting your upload speed (if you've throttled it) can help the download (the more you share the more you get to partake) but that isn't an absolute. If you have the appropriate ports open or forwarded properly, it's probably your ISP throttling the up speeds and the lack of dedicated seeders (combined with the number of peers who are sharing) that are keeping the download rates down.

    ok well i ahve two things to say....one..the patch trick that was in this post works....just was a pain to get somehow

     

     

    and two to what another poster said     so what if the patch trick leads to an older version of the beta client   that just means we will have to patch again once we get in open beta  i am guessing.....

     

    anyway  it works guys  and is a lot more reliable then trying to get the whole torrent

    I love Mythic and have no intention of canceling my pre-order  just because I can't download the beta but its ridiculous for them to think that people are actually going to seed once they've downloaded it.

    I had 0 seeds all weekend but I leave the program up while I'm at work so hopefully when I get home there'll be some progress.

     I'm curious. Do any of you who download torrents use Port sampling like I do? I rotate ports with my client tell I glean the most seeds. On average I never get less then 10. Oh and when I was down I left it on seeding for about 4 days on full bandwith. The more you share, the happier everyone is.

    People who are getting low seed count/low download speeds are doing something wrong or their ISP is throttling their bandwidth.

    I just grabbed the .torrent. and there are plenty of seeds. DL speed shot up to 180kbs(my cap) so no issues there.

    Did you guys read the torrent guide? Did you increase your number of connections? For Utorrent Go to options preferences->Bit Torrent. Then in the field Global max number of connections put it at like 200(mines at 400). Max number of connections per torrent use the same number as global. and for uploads put that at a number that people will get a decent upload rate from you. My upload is capped at 40, I run it at 20 and I have 4 connections in that field.

    I have everything else enabled on that page except Limit Local Peer bandwidth

    Under Options->Connections under listening port I have all boxes checked. The rest is for proxy and limited bandwidth which we don't want.

    Other than that It is either port forwarding that is causing issues. That can be fixed by hooking your computer directly to your modem(get permission from other users first!). Or your ISP is limited your bandwidth like douchebags(Colleges do this as well and block ports).

     

    OH another good tidbit. If you aren't seeing seeds try right clicking on the torrent and selecting "Update Tracker". That will force it to update the number of seeds/leechers.

    man i am glad the Elder testers are on a different patcher then you all ... i just DL 500 megs in about 8 minutes. 

    any way for all the people with slow downloads using bit torrent try setting you upload limit to 100 K + or unlimited. Mythic should be seeding the client and if you can't / are not hitting 800k + download speeds your doing some thing wrong .  

    im not a torrent guy ( i try not to ever use bit torrent ) so i can't help out to much but these links might be helpful ...
