Vista 64 Compatibility?? any worries?

Rawrz.

Ok, so I'm thinking of purchasing a new computer very very soon and I have my eye on a certain one:

2.66GHz Intel 2 Quad

6GB RAM

Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS 512MB

750GB ram blah blah blah.

Awesome right? Well, the only issue is that it runs Vista 64-bit Premium and I've known about, for some time, that people had complained that Vista 64 was an unstable OS and it had compatibility issues with certain applications and whatever.

I've got Warhammer pre-ordered and my current PC meets the requirements, but I'm looking to beef up so I can play it on maximum settings with certainty.

Should I avoid Vista 64? or does anyone think it will be alright to run with it?

Any other advice on the subject would be appreciative.

750GB RAM would be impressive indeed. I haven't seen a Server Cluster with that much....

I played it just fine on my Vista Premium 64 bit computer and never had any problems, nor do I have any problems with any other games and applications. My brother, however, who also played the beta on his Win XP Proffesional 32 bit computer had a few problems, his game crashed every now and then.

lol. I didn't even realize I wrote out "ram" in that.

750GB Hard Drive is what I meant to write.

may i recomment the 4870 best bang for the buck at the moment...

also i would recomment 2 smaller drives in raid 0 for your OS and games...

    i love my raptors

also if you want to have more then 3gigs of ram you need to go x64... or else its wated money

Depending on your system specificaitons I agree that using 2 Raid 0 or Raid 1 drives will deliver faster file read performance than using one large 750GB hard drive.  So unless you are building a media/file server, or do a ton of video editing, the large 750GB drive is actually considered a performance liability for a gaming rig.  I also recommend the Western Digital Raptor drives for their speed (10k rpm vs. standard 7200 rpm) and at least 16mb buffers.  I hope this helps with your system spec.

As far as Vista 64 premium is concerned, I would recommend going for Vista Ultimate which comes with both the 64 bit and 32 bit editions.  You will have to limit your RAM to 4 GB, but you will be able to dual boot to either version if you want, and that should solve any application stability issues that come from Vista 64 vs Vista 32.

    I hope this helps.

You will not have any problems with 64 bit vista. I would say more but still NDA.
