I feel for the fans of Fury. I'd certainly not want to see my game of choice go down. Being that I'm a Tabula Rasa player, there's always that impending doom from nay sayers.
But, what this REALLY should do is open players, developers and pubishers eyes to the saturation this market has gotten. 2 titles in 2 months shut down (although HG:L is being saved... sorta).
Fact of the matter is: The N. American economy is struggling, and game companies are not immune to it. With an already flooded market and 6-9 titles releasing a year, and the disposible income of many people dwindling, what can we excpect?
The market share for developers to win over is getting smaller and smaller as more and more games are released. When there's 10 games for 10 million players to choose from, the share is larger. When there's 100 games, for 10 million, that share is considerably smaller.
Well DUH, when i heard about this game i tought it was an attempt at surpassing GW. I download the game and played for 5 minutes before un-installing it. It was a big pile of trash. What are DEVS thinking releasing crap games like that, that peoples would play them ? We're not in 1990 anymore, peoples expect good games now.
The sheer amount of crappy mmo's still being released today is astonishing.
Not an MMO, not PVP, should never have been mentioned at this website. Meanwhile you have Urban Dead and Kingdom of Loathing banned from the site. Come to think of it, it looks like someone forgot to take Runescape off the game list, and when is the GTA4 forum going to open?
What is atrocious is there is no ProgressQuest forum here on MMORPG.com.
It seems that the folks at Auran Games, who announced back in December of '07 that their PvP-centric MMORPG Fury would be moving from a subscription model to a free-to-play model, have run out of time. Early this morning, the company announced that the game servers and website will be shutting down in 48 hours.
We have reached our time limit to find a solution that would help us keep the Fury servers open. Sadly, no solution has been found and so we have no alternative than to shut the servers down in 48 hours.
To all those players who have enjoyed Fury and played countless battles, I am sorry that we could not find a viable business model that would allow you to continue playing. To all those naysayers and doomsdayers, we know that deep down you wanted Fury to succeed. Have fun with your parting wishes
To the Auran team, who put their heart and soul into making Fury, thanks for your efforts. As I said many times before, we need to be much better than the competition to have a chance of succeeding. We gave it everything we had and history now judges that it still wasn’t good enough.
Whilst this marks the end of the Fury chapter, who knows what the future may bring. There were many gems hidden within Fury and many lessons learned. Hopefully one day the full potential can be realized in some other form.
So for now, so long and thanks for all the fish.
P.S. We informed all stores more than a month ago to remove stock from their shelves. If you have purchased a copy of Fury in the past month, we suggest you return it to the store.
P.P.S. This website will also close down in 48 hours.
Well I think it was about time, but also, what about he people who payed monthly for immortal, I only spent $20 bucks for life but SOME people must've done the monthly. Will they get a refund? Also I think it's good before they go bankrupt...or maybe they already have?....Anyways the company has good potential, they should work on a game that dosen't seems like it's missing everything in a good MMORPG.
This game wasn't that great to begin with, and the game's community just absolutely killed it. The only people I found playing it were total douchebags, not really enticing to anyone thinking about playing.

And that is the nail in the coffin of every PvP only game. I tried to give it a shot, years ago, but I've found that PvP-only environments or mostly-PvP environments brings out the inner sociopath in a lot of people. And those that don't eventually leave the game because being surrounded by a community of nasty, demented little cretins is not something you want to pay for. Heck, it tends to not even be something you'd do for free.
You have to have some outlet for people to get away from the tools to have a successful MMO.
A PvP only system, such as with Fury could have been successful. However the business model that was used was the main problem.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
Pretty much shows a strictly pvp game has to be really really good to hold it's own in this marketplace. I could say I told you so, but I pretty much stayed away from criticizing them as this was always going to be a very small niche game. Guess it was far smaller than they thought.
The problem i saw with fury from the getgo was that it was a peer-to-peer game (such as diablo) but you had to pay monthly for it. I relate it to diablo b/c when u pvp'd you would only want to fight someone your lvl(ish) or you knew who was gonna win and there was no point. Same thing happened in fury, and b/c of the low population you got stuck in games with player 10+ lvls higher then you so you knew who was comin out on top, thus making it hard to lvl and get items. This was obviously not a fault on the game, just on the population, to let people actually play you would be forced into these situations.
I didn't think the game was horrid, but it really should have been F2P from the start.
Protip: If someone does NOT list at least one positive and one negative about the game they are critiquing, its best to ignore the post.
i spend about 2wice as much as normal pay to play (not rich i'm not xD) but i pay for a game and most of it is fairly boring but it has SOO much Potential ... i started playing it as a sci fi fan who wanted a free game but there was nooone so i saw one about pirates one day for free play and not cartoony manga graphics - if you are liable to 12 hours a day playing you will like some graphics story and relaxed play as WELL as pvp and stuff. i learned from old horror movies that crap stoyline is just as good as any other storyline. goodnight pvp that is not fps .
I regret spending $20 on fury from Gamestop. I knew the state of the game, I knew that it was struggling, but I hoped for a miracle. My mistake... It was kinda fun, but it lacked quality, polish, completeness, fun pvp, players, etc.
Farewell Fury, may you forever rest in a shallow grave. May the fleas of a thousand camals infest the crotch of the men who made you, and may their arms be to short to scratch.
At least we have Mortal Online to hope for! Unless it pulls a Darkfall...
So this was a room based PvP game? Like others have said.. One can buy Mortal Kombat or go to the video arcade. Why pay a monthly fee?
Because you want to play other people and not just the computer or the one other loser sitting in the video arcade? Some people actually enjoy competition and a real challenge rather than just killing mindless rats all day. Unfortunately most people would rather spend hours collecting mushrooms than doing something exciting.

No matter how good a game looks or plays, it will fail utterly if it suffers from serious design flaws.
Before one single word of code was written for Fury, it was destined to die. The concept simply doesn't work:
"Hey guys, let's take a normal MMO, remove 90% of the content, and essentially make this a game where you can duel people in a glorified chat room."
"Yeah! There are tons of PvP lovers out there! As long as we market it as a PvP-centric game, people will flock to it!"
Never played it or hearded of it up untill now lol. feel sorry for all the players who have been playing it. PVP only mmo's is just plain bad. lol.

what do I say ? I paid for it on friday and the company reimburse me for it and i just today , went to to the store and got a refund for it.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. That's what the devs get for coming onto these forums and attacking posters.
u must never have plalyed the game nothing about fury was a clone or copy.

We should send them an e-mail:
"Hey, there!! Has your game recently flopped? Could it be you're a LOSER?!?!"
Edit: Aw, he has his e-mail disabled. Good thing I have that forum account over there, PMs work just as good.
I will miss you Fury. First time that beta was better than the release.
did not like this game at all however it is sad to see games fail when people put hardwork into it.

The system was bad but I only got the game because it was australian made
