SOE, Are You Even Paying Attention? EQ is Dominated by Zergers, Hackers, and Farmers.

declaredemerdeclaredemer Member Posts: 2,698
  1. Plat-farmers are holding camps with multiple accounts and using hacks to easily control three plus characters to farm gear, thereby preventing ordinary players from experiencing content.
  2. Hackers are using GM-text, in-game, to advertise their web pages where people can go to obtain hacks, cheats, and other programs to exploit the game.
    1. My estimate is that 100% of people in "hardcore" "zerg" guilds use some form of cheating, hacking, or third party program.
  3. Harassment is worse in EQ than I have seen ever in WoW.  I have seen an entire guild, under the direction of its leadership, attack and harass former members in /ooc, /general, and /say.  I then later hear these same people /report, as a group, the person who is the target of the attack when the victim responds in-kind.

Many other exploits and abuses are occurring in-game.  I think what makes it so repugnant is that these plat-farmers are so obvious about it.  (1)  they control the camps;  (2)  they use cheats; and (3) they are profiting with real-life money because players are buying the gear because they cannot camp it.

Players are often forced to buy, with real-life money, gear from farmers because these same farmers hold the camps and train ordinary players.

When I returned to WoW, I was shocked by the number of bots playing.  Today, EQ is worse:

  1. Plat Farmers monopolize camps;
  2. Advertize their web pages for real-life money with no consequence; and
  3. Train regular players

Psssssssssssssssssssst.  Do something!

Think you might get more success on the Everquest boards:P

Are people really transmitting stuff via GM text now? that has to be a game ruiner more than the simple bots- at least you can ignore them.

I have never post on the "official" boards but I am considering it.

Everquest is currently out-of-control with boxers (using hacks to box effectively) and zergers and hackers and plat-farmers.  And they are all using the same, or similar, hacks, cheats, and third party programs.

It is surprisingly out-of-control.  Never seen it like this before.

I do not believe on the clock help desk folk have the time to reach out to hundreds of mmo forums to find this thread. You would definitely have a better response on the Sony EQ forums.

Nooooooooooo lol. Most of the hackers are on the official EQ forums.

The macroquest users are high end players and the people who got acces to  GM broadcast are high end players too.

This would be like going to a mobsters house telling them they should do something about the maffia.

I have posted on the EQ official forums and you won't get sympathy there. Everyone will tell you cheating isn't cool but almost every high end raider uses cheats.

Triality is full of cheaters, I know some personally.

I don't care anymore, I just play now and then and have some fun, I really stopped caring about EQ as a game.

They are. They found out how to unlock the GM broadcast function and they actually show up as GM's promoting hacker programs.

    It's sad lol.

Sounds like the victim(s) mentioned in the first post should have been /reporting instead of responding in kind.  Does /ignore not work anymore?  Did noone else witnessing this bother submitting a petition? Did YOU? Sounds like it was time to zone to somewhere else. Or to switch to an alt. It's not like there's no way to get away from harrassment. Anyway, welcome to EQ. If someone promised you a rose garden (as far as community), I'd think you'd owe them a kick in the shins.

I haven't seen any yellow text advertisements, but the /tell advertisement has GOT to stop. /report!

I don't know why anyone ever has the general channels on. That's something I turn off immediately whenever I get the (stupid) urge to drop into Old Norrath. There's no signal, just noise. It's a lot of obnoxious, pointless blathering. (ha! Much like my own posts on this forum!) It's a freakshow best left to the freaks.

I will have to agree that when you have one guy controlling a whole group and using the fellowship fire to hold multiple camps or to pull multiple camps to one spot so that noone else can have anything, that's a problem. (Is it just me, or do those fellowship fires give people all sorts of new ways to be jerks, even before taking hacking and cheating into account?)

My husband has farmed up whole sets of gear for me on his own without cheats. He's not making any money off of it. I wish he were! Business has been slow the last two weeks.

But that's also another reason EQ sucks-- everything they do to "fix" or "balance" classes makes things worse. He's a level 80 mage with the best pet focus + a zillion AAs poured into his pet (first and foremost) and then his own DPS. Therefore, little Jibantik tanks better than a lot of knights (and a lot of the more average warriors, for that matter)  and is a mad killing machine. And then there are the swarm pets and the short duration pets... He does ridiculously well solo, and if I come along playing my (somewhat lower level) necro with snare and DoTs, it's just stupid what we can do. That's with NO healer, boxed or otherwise. And that's a design flaw, in my opinion. One or two people shouldn't be able to do what would otherwise require a whole group of less overpowered classes. It makes me mad, to a degree, because I prefer melee classes, but the mass carnage wrought by the mage/necro duo would be hard for us to duplicate with any other two classes.

But as far as not "experiencing content"... No worries. New content is just as boring and horrid as the old content. Remember, it's just a game, and not even a very good one. It had it's day, but that day has been over for at least 4 years. Move on!

I used to run 3 accounts on one computer...

Wasnt very good at it...but I did. 70 nec, 65 shammy, and a 63 pali.

No cheating...just toggle between windows. Wasnt very efficient. Younger folks I am sure could of done better.

Some of the multiboxers make ya wonder though, with how good they are at it.

The biggest problem with EQ that I knew of was folks that would "ghost kill". Some hack allowed them to stay at zone line, yet kill mobs that were well out of striking distance.

I hope SOE finally fixed that one.

You can meet some strange people in Everquest, look at this one : http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=108066

A 24 crews boxer and a guild by himself. Silly guy building his own story.

For the OP: be happy, 2 hours of emergency patch and the GM-text hack had been removed...maybe they are following you around

I am so amused that we always get tagged as a guild of cheaters just because we can beat new encounters fasters than most others.  if anything, it makes us a lot more highly monitored.

Everquest is almost like an old house.  You do not want to see the house corrupted, demolished, or transformed in a way that it is beyond recognition.

When the old house is improved, you get mixed feelings from it.  You want it to improve so that the character of its remains there.  When people abuse the old house by spraying graffiti on it or breaking windows, you get particularly offended from it.

If I am critical of all things related to EQ, it is from affection.  Might sound strange, but it really is.

bottem line: eq live is, and has been for several years, a very very sad thing; a pathetic thing.

Soe has so neglected this game and so ruined it it sickens me to think about.

EQ classic = best game to ever exist. Most immersion. Best mechanics and community. All MMO's today are sold out peices.

I miss EQclassic very much after all these years. It seems to me like in these last few years the MMO business has been completely sold out and is worthless.
