Where's the new comprehensive video that's supposed to be out this month?
Are we going to see it on August 31 at 11:59 pm?

It may come this friday or on the 22th one since it's a holiday on 15th. Expect the video in any fridays of this month.

I find it funny that all you vaportrolls use your time by posting on the forum of the game that you pretty much hate. What's the point in that? I think it's because all you people secretly hope and maybe even believe it'll be released, so you keep on hanging out here to see if there's any new info.. Every day you come here just to get new info. Of course you have to post some shit too so your reputation won't get trashed

Vanguard, AoC, we post because were tired of being misled and turned into cash patsies for companies that dont give a rats ass about what the gaming community wants or expects. They feed us unfinished products and we buy them, hence were saying "Its okay, screw us some more, we'll still buy your products".
They deserve to get flamed. AoC for example gave us all a good bait and switch routine, and people should be pissed. Honestly I think developers should respect the people theyre marketing to.
I mean cmon look at the guys making this game, theyve been shady from the getgo, they refuse to be up front with us about the game, and should suffer because in the end WE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE GOING TO PUT FOOD ON THEIR TABLE.

I base my opinion on their antics in the past. Theyve pushed back their so called release more times than I care to recollect. So from a logical standpoint if you want to see where something is going, you look at where its been.
However calling out "nerd" rage, and insulting peoples maturity with a "grow up" neither presents a decent argument in either direction. Simply put, you are a nerd among nerds, its like a inmate in a prison standing up and chastising everyone there for being convicts.
They've never missed a release date. Why? They haven't given any dates yet. This is the first time that they officially gave a fixed "date" (they only said 2008.) So if they miss this one, then it's the first time.
Oh and btw there's a easy way to avoid being screwed by the game companies: don't buy the fucking games until they've been released and you can be sure it's not just a pile of crap.

Actually, they were planning to release in 2004 if possible. It wasn't possible. Now, they've basically said they will release in 2008. Notice the difference?
Heck! we've been waiting for years! Just 2 more weeks and we will see the truth whether they release or not...

While playtesting we're getting a lot of video footage that's going to end up in a video we'll be releasing next month so you'll get an idea of what we've been talking about.
Just with the video, they gave two "fixed" dates. They completely blew the first, and the second... they have five days left.
(And since "a few [Greek] weeks" = "at least 4 real months", and "our launch date will be inside 2008, with the public beta preceding it by a few [Greek] weeks." Well, they will need to release a public beta within two weeks, to meet their timeline.)

But noones actually spent any money on Darkfall. We're not getting screwed. Sorry if you lost money on AoC, and that you probably had to pay X for a beta key, or were swindled because the first 20 levels actually has content but nothing in the later levels, but you haven't played Darkfall, so how do you know that they are screwing us and not giving us what they promised?
I also don't really see how they aren't "up front" with us. They've said many times the game will release when they feel its ready. Waiting sucks, their marketing sucks. Personally I feel they shouldn't have even mentioned the game until an alpha phase... then maybe the development cycle would have been less then 5 years, as everyone is up in arms about a 7 year development cycle.

Unfortunately ya.. and it's basically how it is.
As a master of general timeframes myself, there is only 1 possible time frame in that post of "fixed" timeframes. The end of august. Somehow he got 2 exact dates out of 2 very general posts. One of which he says they "missed" but how can they miss something that wasn't exact.
Its like saying I'm going to eat dinner later in the day, and then eating it at 11PM. Roguetech would say I missed dinner if I didn't eat it at 7. I say I was vague on my time frame.
Thats why Darkfall does what they do, because its so vague its hard to hold them to it. They like to keep their options open. The fact that they gave a time frame of "end of august" is actually kind of appauling to me.
There is still no definative release date. They were talking about getting ready for release and some type of Beta since '03, they did the same in '04, and again in '06. It is 08 and pretty much all the developers have said is it will come out this year. There has been no official releases on this vauge release date, so I'm assuming it is very similar to all the other suggestive release dates they've said in the past. They haven't really "broken" any release dates, since they haven't officially announced one yet. I would not be suprised in the least if in the upcomming months they start talking about a '09 release date.
With only 4 months left in '09, they still have not released much of anything on their game. The last few games that did that, the developers were hiding things from the public for a reason: Their game was not what they stated. If everything is so ready as they say it is, why can they not display this to the public? We have yet to get even a simple screenshot of the UI, or numerous people fighting during a town siege, or how town building/politics/etc works. If they go against what they have said, and start doing preorders before everything is fleshed out to the fans/public, I for one will avoid it like the plauge. They are salesmen, you would do good not to believe every word that a salesman spouts about his product without anything to show that those claims are true. Mourning, DnL, and Horizons promised huge things for their games, and released shallow shells of what they promised. Darkfall may not follow in their paths in the least (I surely hope not) but there are just too many unanswered questions so close to their supposed release.

"A few" is a small number, that can vary when compared to the entire population. "A few" stars may be millions (of billions/trillions/whatever). A few minutes may be 10 or 15 (of 60). A few weeks can be two or three (of 4.3).
So, to put it in terms you can understand... If I said at 6:45 that you would eat in a few minutes... You might assume by or around 7:00. If I said at 9:45, you'll eat "within an hour", you might not only wonder wtf happened to "a few minutes", but assume that you'd now eat by 10:45.
It's 10:41 now, and the game is going to be released by midnight, after a "few minutes" of testing.
Companies blow their timelines all the time. Only idiots make completely unrealistic deadlines, and only lying idiots stand by them even when it's obvious to even the most idiotic that they can't do make the deadline.

The fact that he even made the 2008 launch anouncement which is NEVER going to happen just shows how severely incompetent and out of touch this guy really is with his own product.
i mean any idiot should know if their product is ready for a commercial launch or not within 6 months time.. Especially a MMORPG.
6 months from a launch a MMORPG is like 90% done or SHOULD be and be either deep into Beta or starting one ASAP.

But one thing "a few" isn't at all, is definite. I mean if he said a couple weeks that would be completely different, so you can't just assume "a few weeks" means 3 weeks, or 7 weeks for that matter. But I will agree, its rather distressing that Tasos is so confused on his launch and beta time frames. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love being general myself, but 4 months from launch its pretty close to the point where he better "revise" his statement or actually produce something worthwhile. Video notwithstanding.
Thats funny considering the game has only been in development for 5 years and he's only mentioned a real beta release once before...

The amount of info available on this game after 5 years is pathetic.
Basically in those 5 years they released 2 Alpha videos at best that show nothing more than a basic combat system and mounts and a few towns.
"A few" does provide an upper limit... Less than the entire population. "A few days" is less than a week, "a few weeks" is less than a month, and "a few months" is less than a year. To use it in any other way is misleading. Whether Tasos is being purposefully misleading or just wrong... Don't see how it matters.
He was either misleading or wrong about delivering a video in "a few weeks". And he was either being misleading or wrong in saying beta will only need to be "a few weeks", and he's either wrong or misleading that there will have been coverage in main stream media, and he will be wrong or lieing when the game won't release this year.
As for "next month", you can assume it means August. After waiting "a few weeks" for a few months, I'm giving it 31 days from the day of the statement, i.e. August 18.
