Yes I thought that would get your attention.
I was never planning to post this at all, as it really isn't any of my buisness as I never played AoC after beta. However I find that I simply can not keep my mouth shut about my opinion on this matter anymore.
Before you skip to the bottom of this page to comment, please take a moment to read through the rest of the post, and then take another moment to think through what I said before you do anything else.
I would like to ask all the users here at MMORPG.com to stop their endless rants on the failures of Funcom and Age of Conan. Yes, you hate it, yes you think it was wasted money and wasted time. I think most of us have got your point by now. Please don't take this as a post created to defend Funcom in any way, it is more an entry created to defend the very webpage you are currently viewing. You ,as a user and the community as a whole, does not gain anything from everyone posting again and again about how Funcom has failed. All it does is to clutter the front page and make it harder for the newcomers to see any of the interesting posting going on. Please take a moment before you post yet another hatred thread against funcom, or continue to fan the flames of an already exisiting bonfire.
I beg you to stop destroying the quality of the content here at MMORPG.com, consider the image you want to leave of yourself here with the other readers, and post on more fun and interesting topics.

MMORPG.COM should consider removing AoC and its boards from the site. That would probably stop all the criticism in one fell swoop, as well as make the site more respectable.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

I for one you are right OP, in that the continuos rants all over the site, on alot ( my guess is all game forums ) its "destroying" the value of this site.
As a personal experience, 2 or so years ago i came to see the page almost on a daily basis, now i find myself doing it once or twice a week, and after thinking of your comment and my previus word i realize its in great part because of that very fact, i dont find anything worthwhile to check everyday, but most of a when i got time or nothign to do.
So in a naive hope that some people can analize and understand this, i think everybody should post less worthless comments or just post all the hate, failure and the like post in at least threads as posible since they help us all too make desission on a game purshace; and well start posting more constructive ones.
Obviously it's not so much the players' fault as it is the game's. You can't burn thin air, you need to have some wood. Age of Conan is that wood. It's dry and ripe for the flames. I don't see the same people making thread after thread about how Funcom screwed up AoC. I see them expressing their opinion, which is constant, in more than one thread, but I had thought that everyone does that to an extent.
Mostly the pure flaming threads are from people with a low post count (so most people would consider them trolls). But has anyone stopped to think that maybe they're people fresh from AoC who just discovered this site? Sure, they could look in the AoC forums and see that every bad thing they have with the game has already been discussed to the point of "beating a dead horse". However they could just as easily not look in the AoC forums, make a quick account, and make a thread telling everyone their experience and how bad it was.
There's less threads now that deal with AoC sucking, most of them are making fun of Funcom (hey, it must be okay if they have "Fun" in their name! Right?). I haven't seen a pure flame thread pretty much since release. Not on the front page anyways. That's what you're concerned about, right?
I think beating a dead horse and/or turning it into glue or whatever is to be expected in forums. Whether people repeatedly say bad things about a game or good things.

I'm no sure if I agree or not. I have nothing but contempt for this game but it is getting old to keep posting about how bad fc and aoc is. The point has been made but I do have to say when fc tries to have some shills post on here about some new good thing about aoc that is crap it is prudent that someones posts a rebuttal so that some new unsuspecting mmoer doesn't get sucked in to waste their money.
Right now if someone isn't posting about aoc they are posting about how good war is going to be and thus the cycle is renewing itself. I hope it won't be a bad game, but if it is the posts from already hardcore war lovers is going to overshadow the aoc comments and then you won't see them anymore.

This is a discussion forum. Stifling discussion would go against the very reason these forums exist. I for one give MMORPG.com more credit for allowing us to express our thoughts and opinions in an open and constructive way. Sure there are some that have the forum tact of a 4 year old but that's on both sides of the negative/positive fence.
Take part in the discussion. Debate with us. I want to hear your opinions. You have the ability to take part as well. Post a positive topic for every negative if you want. That's what we're all here for... to discuss.
here is a constructive comment. AoC shipped with no end game, broken quests, no pvp system,
broken classes, oh and a memory leak that boots you every 20 mins or so. my constructive comment
is to hell with Funcom. have i seen games in worse shape? yes. have i seen a company just not
care? well soe about swg. but that is nothing compared to this garbage. i will stop when i feel i have
my $65 in bitching out. i figure i'm around $22 now. if you don't like the complaints don't read them.
i personally don't like pickles so i don't eat them, and yes i bitch about it when they put them on my
burger anyways.
as far as your concern about new comers well they need to know what a pos this game is too.

That's exactly right - I was going to say this at first, but I think the OP knows this. He's just tired of seeing all the negative threads, whether or not he agrees. It seems like he does though. The OP was wrong to ask us to stop the negativity, because Funcom gets what they deserve, but he and many others are tired of all the threads saying bad things. That's perfectly fine as long as he realizes we do have the right to be as negative as we want. Thank you MMORPG.com.

I do in no way mind you posting negative, or positive threads on anything. I am just opposed to spam. The very idea of reposting something, just changing the wording a bit is against what I think is constructive discussion. If it was debate, if it was discussion, I would never have said a word. What I find frustrating is that people keep picking on everything they can find about funcom, AoC and the people who worked on it, just so they can keep fueling their hate. It's almost something fanatical about the whole ordeal. I believe that everyone would be better off if they stopped finding excuse upon excuse to keep on fueling their anger.
I am sorry if I seemed like somone trying to moderate your opinions, as that was not my intention.

OP, you new to the internet? To video games? You want sunshine and lollipops post only, browse to one of the good games that don't deserve every single negative post made about them like AoC does.
Let's say no one posts the truth anymore as you wish. What are these facinating discussion threads you think are suddenly going to appear? Why don't you just put everyone except Avery and Bloodworth on ignore, then you'll see exactly what you want to.

I introduced myself to these forums as somone who's main interest is understanding game features and their flaws, but I don't feel that features, flaws, or anything else for that matter is coming out of the repeated posting of the same threads over and over.

Well, you could try not clicking on threads you find objectionable. There are plenty of stickies at the top of the AoC forum with info to, have a look.
Speaking of spam, yours is the umpteenth post with the same content we've seen a million times before as well. It's been done to death as much as the "FailCom" threads have.

Stupid joke aside. I don't really feel this rant is any better than the other ones at all. Which is why I didn't post it to start with. However I ended up posting it later, hoping to appeal to some of the people throwing up new posts on the same topic with the same content again and again. Atleast I don't think a lot of posts contain the same rant as this one, atleast I have that going for me.. Not that it really matters. Either way, my point still stands, it's the reposting of the same topics with the same content that I am asking nicely if people could possibly tone down on. I realise it was a futile attempt but one I wanted to make even so.

I would love to come back to this game eventually. But it is atleast 6 months away from being worth it.
It's not that I am clicking on the threads that I don't want to read. That would be really silly! It is just frustrating to try and follow posts on the live feed on the front page when it's constantly filled with new posts on how evil Funcom is

i believe you need to read more. if 1k people are complaining about the food in a restaurant, and that
restaurant gets bad ratings, and that restaurant gives you chicken instead of steak, and when you bitch
they say sir that is steak you will eat it. would you go there. in fact after the experience of being there
would you not tell everyone you know. the features, flaws, and everything is spoken about very clearly.

I think it speaks highly of the OP's mentality that even though he has no idea how horrible the game is now, he wants to shut down any criticism of it. The piece of garbage deserves every criticism it receives and implying that criticism of it's missing features (promised on the box itself) and horrible features is somehow "wrong" when you have no clue what other people are talking about sounds pretty stupid.
