I was never planning to post this at all, as it really isn't any of my buisness as I never played AoC after beta. However I find that I simply can not keep my mouth shut about my opinion on this matter anymore.
Before you skip to the bottom of this page to comment, please take a moment to read through the rest of the post, and then take another moment to think through what I said before you do anything else. I would like to ask all the users here at MMORPG.com to stop their endless rants on the failures of Funcom and Age of Conan. Yes, you hate it, yes you think it was wasted money and wasted time. I think most of us have got your point by now. Please don't take this as a post created to defend Funcom in any way, it is more an entry created to defend the very webpage you are currently viewing. You ,as a user and the community as a whole, does not gain anything from everyone posting again and again about how Funcom has failed. All it does is to clutter the front page and make it harder for the newcomers to see any of the interesting posting going on. Please take a moment before you post yet another hatred thread against funcom, or continue to fan the flames of an already exisiting bonfire.
I beg you to stop destroying the quality of the content here at MMORPG.com, consider the image you want to leave of yourself here with the other readers, and post on more fun and interesting topics.

lol..now funcom is paying random mmorpg users to try to stop us from saying the truth about aoc...the fact that its a total failure..
i love a good conspiracy theory.
usually when someone calls out something as being a conspiracy are usually a person directly or indirectly involved with a cover up. either that or thier eyes are so crosseyed they could see the truth even if it was sitting at the end of the nose...
The minute you ask people to stop voicing thier opinion is the minute you might as well delete this forum. The people who have gripes with this game have just as much right to voice them as those who like to advertise how much they like the game.

sounds like a funcom employee. I forget which dev it was, but they admitted to not even playing their own product.
OP. You dont seem to get it. Since the official boards are "censored" and controlled, people cannot voice their opinions there without either getting a ban, warning, or having their threads deleted altogether, which is very common.
Other players have a right to hate a bad product, and MMORPG is the best place to do it. Why? Because lets be frank, Funcom is a horrible company. They gave everyone a horrible product. A lot of curious gamers who were interested in giving AoC a try can find out they need to steer clear of this product via these forums.
This is a good thing. Funcom needs to be held accountable, and when you piss off half a million players who payed and played, they deserve the platform in which they can communicate their displeasure at being the victim of suable business practices. Sadly Funcom is backed by their tiny government, and their laws are not our laws.
Basically what YOU the OP are whining about...is that you are tired of seeing negative AoC threads show up on the main page. Your gripe is with MMORPG for having that "latest post/thread" feature and does not belong here.
You are telling people that "its just a game and to relax", well I say to you, its just a Website, and if seeing AoC threads on the main page bugs you so much, you yourself need to relax and get over it. Just because its a minor annoyance to you, doesnt mean everyone has to bend over to make you feel more comfortable. Get over it, you are making a big deal out of absolutely nothing. Why dont you complain about the MMORPG.com color scheme next while you are at it, you can blame it on the WAR community.
Commit fraud and mislead consumers and you deserve this backlash, in fact, one should EXPECT this sort of backlash. In ANY other industry Funcom could be sued for the misrepresentation they painted of this product.
It really comes down to two types of players / consumers (in general):
Group A) are laid back, don't expect much, willing to accept that the game needs time to get sorted, and can't understand why other people are so damn upset over a game. They are willing to ride it out, and if it stops being fun, they will stop paying.
Group are angry they bought a product that didn't deliver what they perceived it would have based on what they saw before release. They feel FunCom lied to them, are underhanded and basically suckered them out of their money. There is no forgiveness for this unethical behavior.

Group B.
They promised so much from the videos they released and things they posted on their website. released the game with none of this content and dropped off 75% of it and played dumb about it as if it we dreamt it up and it never existed.
Ill list the ones that really ruined it for me. Funcom lied about many things the game would be/do. some they treid to do but failed at it.
1. Social interactive npc. IE npc would respond diff to how you where dressed or what race/class you might be.
2. massive pvp with fog of war(to cut back lag) to allow 100+ vs 100+ battles its now 45 v 45 and unplayable. 45 isnt massive to me especially when you are in a pre-game release guild with several hundred members and find many of you will be left out of the action.
3. new useful and innovative mounted combat. mounts are a joke other than for travel hell mounted combat in EQ is better.
4. guild cities with buslting npc life and waring npc cities... eventually this will come i guess maybe... My guild had a t2 city before we even got a tradepost guy added and last time i played with a full t3 city still no tradeskill npc's .... did have a seige merch that was useless.
5. Crafting is a joke. Also bugged if you wear crafted armor with gems when you zone with gemmed armor the stats wont show you have to remove the armor zone and then place armor back on it your stats wont reflect that you are wearing it. *crafting was also not possible for a month*
6. Talked endlessly about how beautiful and numerous of armor sets they had yet on both my chars from 1-80 they looked the same.
7. merc guilds that you could hire/bounties... figured it would be somewhat like eve merc corps...
8. blood money this one is weird i read a post a while back saying they had dropped the blood money idea a year and a half ago, but before i quit i had seen a video and read about it on the website funcom lies too much.
9. no pvp rank system
keep in mind i have not played for about 6 weeks now and havent really looked back. so if they did add this then cool, but this all should have been part of release and some of it has been dropped completely.
I would like to ask all the users here at MMORPG.com to stop their endless rants on the failures of Funcom and Age of Conan.

Word up!
For the ones that hate our rants about the game:
We wouldn't be ranting about the game if it wasn't in such a shoddy condition, and that the devs have made very little progress in improving the game after 2 months.
Really now, the fun question is this... Is AoC better NOW or the state it was in at LAUNCH?
The fact I can ask this question with a straight face should speak volumes about the lack of direction and improvement this game has.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Does dried dog poo smell better than when it first came out? Yes. Yes it does. It's still shit though.
I'm exagerating of course, but really the game has improved in some ways like group indicators in the mini-map, shield of the risen, a working guild city, sieges are now available.
But then you look closer and hey those group indicators don't go away when you group, shield of the risen doesn't allow you to buff, the guild city bonuses are worthless, sieges are broken to all hell.
Oh, don't get me wrong... sieges *technically* are in-game.
It's just they don't work Heck, GMs will tell players not to do sieges because it's a known issue they don't work.
And hasn't worked since Day 1!

maybe I'm biased. I spend most my time catching threads in the SWG Vet refuge and trying to follow the latest Darkfall drama. I'm fairly used to seeing the same threads, with slightly different words, over and over. I am also familiar with the feeling that a company was dishonest with you and offered poor customer service. These posts, however, are part of a public forum and even these seemingly redundant threads can result in interesting dialog and some meaningful conversation.
I would argue with the idea that these posts are somehow diminishing the quality of the site content. As far as I can see the content is still there, it just isn't always in that easy front page feed. You actually have to apply some sort of filter, i.e. narrow down to a specific game, to view the content you want to read that is still being posted. So, by a stretch, you might say the convenience of the site is being affected, but the content is certainly still there.
Specific to AoC you have a whole different set of circumstances though. It has been posted and demonstrated by numerous people that there are some pretty significant obstacles to making critical posts on the official forums. As a result, while it might be inconvenient, I can't find any fault with users posting in a venue that will allow them to alert other consumers and/or vent their frustrations. Add to this the fact the FunCom employees (FC-Famine I guess) seem to be posting here as well and it becomes even more justifiable that pepole should be so vocal.
I'll have to add a similar disclaimer to my opinion though. I have not played AoC. I have followed it when it was hyped and since release becuase I was interested to see if it would be the next great MMO. Now, I just watch it for the trainwreck appeal i suppose.

What you are asking is for a result that is completely opposite to the normal effect of the current situation.
Your desire to have the negative posts stop, you do not address the cause of your "problem", honestly, because you have no control over the condition of the game, so you ask those who you might be heard from to stop complaining.
As long as people post positive about this game, the opposite have the right to respond to the posts. Those who have had a "negative game experience" due to AoC, have a right to have their voices heard, so new people can make up their own minds about the condition of the game,
If a car that looks shiney, neat and cool, did not come with safety belts, I would be appriciative to those who brought it to light. The fact the "car" had so many other problems that fixing my "seat belt problem" has not been properly addressed or looks like they are even going to get to it anytime soon, again I would be greatful for the information.
For a game that was hyped and advertised as the "next great thing in MMOs and PvP" gaming, the condition it came out in did not reflect the sales pitch, nor has the actions following after been consistant to anything they have been saying.
The anti-AOC posts are more fun than the game. Thats why I visited MMORPG today.
Well, the AoC endgame consists of forum PvP.
Forum PVP will get you banned from the offcial forums, just like PVP will get you banned from a PVP server in AOC. Its funcon policy Ban everyone to make their game stable.
I just wonder if AoC was a hit would the OP then say stop with all the positive reviews and fan boys promoting how good a game it is. Will the OP also go on to make other posts to stop all the blizard bashing or other games that get flamed. Whether you like the game or not or don't even care this is a forum to discuss and give our opinions on different mmos. If your tired of reading about how bad Funcom may have screwed up AoC then don't read any more of those posts just ignore it. In truth the OP has just reopened the debate with yet another post about AoC. Yes I am to tired about hearing how bad AoC is. I got the point but people are free to state that point.
It's like watching someone screw something up, horribly. You just can't help but watch and await the "spectacular" outcome.
Once I was downtown with friends bar-hopping, and I saw a bum in an alley using a newspaper as a diaper. You know, I just curled my lip in disgust, but I watched...I watched. How could I not?
here is a constructive comment. AoC shipped with no end game, broken quests, no pvp system, broken classes, oh and a memory leak that boots you every 20 mins or so. my constructive comment is to hell with Funcom. have i seen games in worse shape? yes. have i seen a company just not care? well soe about swg. but that is nothing compared to this garbage. i will stop when i feel i have my $65 in bitching out. i figure i'm around $22 now. if you don't like the complaints don't read them. i personally don't like pickles so i don't eat them, and yes i bitch about it when they put them on my burger anyways.
as far as your concern about new comers well they need to know what a pos this game is too. have a nice day
