Blizzard has announced that BlizzCon tickets have completely sold out after going on sale on Monday.

Tickets to BlizzCon 2008 are now sold out. We'd like to thank everyone once again for their overwhelming interest in this year's show. If you were unable to secure tickets, please keep in mind that DIRECTV will be broadcasting BlizzCon live from the Anaheim Convention Center on October 11 and 12. In the meantime, keep an eye on the BlizzCon 2008 website for updates on panels, exhibits, events, and more. We look forward to meeting some of you at the show!

I don't understand why people pay to attend these types of events. SOE does the same bullshit.

These game companies are using these events as advertising and promotion of their products and brand name and are going to write of all costs associated with them, so why should existing customers or potential customers pay to attend?

The sad part about this is all of the problems the website was having. It was down for most of one day, and then the next when it was "up," it was very hit or miss for most. A lot of people are upset over the giant mess.

    It's the nature of fandom.

It's the same with people going to receptions for new books, band releases or something similar. If you're a hardcore fan, you want to have the complete experience.

Blizzard needs to stay in the public eye and the fan wants to feel catered to and special. There is always that little something associated, in this case some mini-pet or special item for an in-game character that makes the cost acceptable to the fan and for a special demographic it is viewed as real value.

Compare it to a concert for a huge mega-star, they are normally sold out in no time as well and the real experience is still mostly fake with pre-recorded music, real-time editing of music, sounds levels and what have you. Not much different from the experience you have in front of your stereo, but if you're a fan, it is totally justified and afterwards you have a bracelet or a T-shirt that says "I was there".

Blizzard doesn't give a shit about a game that is mostly pvp being released.
