Salut people of mmorpg.com 07
Without big words i will try to tell you about my actual expirience with Lotro. I know it wasnt called for but i think many people can agree and gamers considering this game may get some info the are looking for :
-Lotro got a vast seemless world, most is woods
swamps and wasteland, some nice snowy areas
-Lotro got one of the nicest dynamic skies of mmos
- it got few classes, but the classes play very different
-lotro got grinds for *deeds* and those are a bit like
EQs and EQII customation paths, the only way to
make your char different from the next .
-Lotro got long travel times for many quests
-it got some of the best *storyteller* quests
and those questline(called Books) can get you from low level to max level, but you need a group here and there to complete.
-it got many emotes and rp tools, more will come like hobbies. Housing is aready in.
Its an instance of a village on its own(but noone there if you dont rp a party whith you Guild)
- it got some pvp if you agree to pvp within an arena, but this will be inproved, still it feels like a xtra not a feature..on the other hand many resorted to play only like that, and it seems to be good fun.

- the weaponary and the armor wont go far out of the blend, but thats okay it is within the lore, no flashy pink shoulderparts or oversized Swords of
*offshowing*, still some nice models here and there, some have the *glow when enemy off that type near*..pretty nice
-it got some nice customation for your appearance, you can wear what you want for stats, but appear in what you want.
-Hide helmets,cloak,gloves is in
-many quests are bland, i mean the old* fetch me 20 of this, collect 10 of that*
-many quests have a good storyline, but few voiceovers, you have to read the text.
-faces of npcs are textures..nice detail but no live
-but you have npc conversations in hubs so thats a plus for immersion
-you´ll be finding yourself running out of space to store items you wanna keep
- you can buy a house to store some more *unbound* equipment
-youll fight bears at lvl 1 and at lvl 30, many models are seen again
- the enemies in this game are kept to the lore
no fancy/wierd things

-the crafting is no minigame but less tideous
once you collected or bought your materials you can advance to next tier by crafting afk .like -> got 50 hides to make 25 boiled hides *klick* ..go and make a soup or open a beer.
Once you made enough you will have to do a quest to get to the next tier.
-crafted gear is good and enough to compare,
most raids will welcome you with only crafted gear
- animations are bad but you have many emotes
- battle animations are mediocre *why the heck do i stab with my mace??*
-instanced dungeons are well made, still many lack change on the advance.. like kill 3 types of mobs over and over to get to the endboss where you need new tacticts
- endboss fights are good, and need some interaction of classes to succeed
- sometimes the mobs feel like placed there
to be killed
- enemy forts and mob placing on the other hand are nicely made
- you will find fluff like a swarm of birds flying by, rain, day/night circle, a fox running from you etc
-most chat channels are area bound, subjectiv i always felt more lone in lotro than in any other mmorpg game
-lotro lives more from*i know how to play my class* over * i have uber gear*
- tactic is much more present here then in games like wow((imho))as an slightly trained group excells far over a *just* good PU group
I find myself playing this game on and off, still like it & there are some good rp servers..cause i came from PnP gaming to mmorpg gaming.
Now 3 points why i come back and 3 points i log off.
- i hate the loong traveltimes and the sometimes vague quest description..you can enjoy the tour one time, twice, but soon it becomes a bore
to ride to rivendel.
- i hate the zone related chat channels, sometimes a server may feel dead noones hearing you, but there are hundreds on would helping you in the quest you cant do alone
-the recycling of the mobs, you see so many mobs reapear..it´s the OMG *this crow could waste my starter vilaage* feeling
i like:
-the very well written quests, all even the easy collect 23 bear testicels quests have some nice
background or flare
-i like the scenerey ..no time to have a walk out there RL?Lotros sound + view makes feels very alike
-i like how turbine/codemasters make this game better and deeper every step.
-i like the *not so gear dependend* approach
if you have quest gear your level its fine
-and for most i like the comunity, i play on an eu server so sorry for all my misspellings.
I hope i didnt tell to much wrong, just wanted to write down what anoys me and what i enjoy
from the view of a gamer that have seen many mmorpgs.
Please add or correct me
*bow

I agree, but you should learn to spell.

Is it really necessary to tell a person who appologizes for their spelling that they should learn how to spell?
"i play on an eu server so sorry for all my misspellings." (in case you may have missed it)
You failed.
First you kept telling us how awesome AoC was, and now you are knocking this guys spelling..
Geez

A lot of good points, thanks for sharing. Mspeli all you wnt. Bugger people who care, English isn't everyone's first language.
Hell, English is my first language and I still get tossed up on spelling and grammer <-- see, proof in point.

All of us live in glass houses when it comes to typing and grammar. Or at least I know I do.
If not for those little red lines I'd be totally screwed. There are times where I have so little idea of how to spell something that after trying to get the red line to go away five or six times I will have to google the abortion of letters that I first try to use so that google will say "Did you mean to say XXXX?"
In any case, enjoyed your post OP.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Um no I didn't, over at AoC I defended it but never really was over the top with it. And yes I missed the part where he apologized for it, sorry just annoys me with all these kids who come onto the internet and don't know how to spell. Grant it, some don't speak English so I can understand in cases like this. Just hard to look past it when you are online, and reading/writing is the only option.

You failed.
You bet your butt that was "fail." That original post was very informative.
Moving down the list alphabetically, "Maple Story" what's that?

It's good to know you're still around. You are a worthless part of every community you've ever stepped a foot in. Why don't you go back to complaining on the WWII Online forums.

Awe you hurt me feelings with a flame.
Pretty Accurate description of LOTRO i would say .
May I hear some more about the PVP aspect, please?
I had read/hear that pvp was some kind of dorky arena that you went to and turned into a monster - Has that changed now? Can I fight as my actual avatar? Is it team/racial based, fffa, flagged or what.
Graci
PVP is stupid. You go to one zone that isnt very big. The creeps are monsters, aka Wargs, Orcs, and Spiders. Players play them and rank up as they go spending Destiny points to get all their skills/attributes. They get maps to map just about anywhere in the zone, where as the Freeps, the actual characters (your avatar?) only have one.
Its a one sided thing. Its either the creeps out number and out cooperate the Freeps, or vice versus. When one side is losing they camp at 1 shotters. Yes, 1 shotters, get close and you die.
Thats how simple it is. It's totally not PvP. No, you cannot kill other Freeps, only the Creeps.
I will give you what i know about PVM
= Player versus Monster
- You can play different classes of monsters
Ranged, stealther, crowd control, meele, hybrid who can heal etc.
Black arrow orc, warg , spider, slashing Orc, warmaster etc
those you will start at lvl 50 and then you can advance and upgrade your Monster/creep by missions and pvp.
-a starter creep will be less powefull then any
normal player char = freep coming from *free people
- An upgraded creep can cause some serious trouble for a normal lvl 50 freep char.
-You can play creeps on only one map, i dont consider this map small, you can´t overlook the area(and you can see very far in lotro), i would guess to run from one end to the other would take about 10 minutes.
-You can fight about keeps
-theres somethning like *fame*and *ranks* to gain and as far as i heard you can get *pvp gear* by it((someone should verify that))
- The map you got to Battle isnt not only an arena
it is also a part of the world and chars got to quest there to accomplish their Classquests and other tasks.
- Mines of Moria adds new aspects to PVP
Well i hope anyone else can add here and give some more unbiased info about PVM.
The time i tested it it was good fun, but i wanted to lvl up my main char first, now at almost max lvl i consider it again. The PVM just rounds up the LOTRO package and im sure that devs will work to upgrade it even more in these times of WAR

Yah, you cant grief or gank which is obviously why you don't like it. It's not one sided at all and unless you are actually going to offer an objective opinion, probably best to just not say anything at all. Your post is hardly representative of how PvP actually is in LotRo.
