This is an outrage! We all need to have a choice to play, and go were our friends are at!
2 games I'm going to play WoW and Wish
Wish will have 1 server only! And will host 10,000 people!
You see this blizzard, Wish is giving people a chance to be with there friends!
Why not do this for all of us, all over the world!

This is the article that has set the forum on fire. I have marked a few phrases that I think are important. I have, however, included all the infromation, so it's not read out of context. I feel that server segregation is a bad thing, but I see what they are trying to do and that it appears to be a temporary thing...

If World of Warcraft (a game that will no doubt have more than 10,000 payers) was hosted on only one server, the lag would make the game unplayable.
I have no doubt in my mind that Wish will probably bring more servers online once their initial one exceeds its limit.

Personally I love it.. Look I have played Blizzard games for a while now, hell I have played alot of games period.. From my experiences I come to believe that the asian side of the market is hack city..
By that I mean the majority of games that have a high asian player base are games that have a extremly high amount of hackers... Having lived in South Korea and Okinawa I have seen this up close and personal (internet caffes and the Kutusa soldiers that were under my charge). Hell they not only hack games they hack consels you can go to the Korean market places and find generic copys of the Xbox and Playstation and almost a generic version for ever game realeased on those consels. You can also go there and have a chip installed in your P2 which allows you to play hacked versions of new realeases for like 5 bucks a pieace. Name one place in the States where you can do that and its not Illegal.
Sorry but I dont want to play another L2 with hacks, bots, exploits, farmers, and things of that nature.. Go back and look at the History of another Blizzard game Diablo and just see what was done to that game thanks to Asian clans like the Flys and others.... I dont want to have to load up another Jamella, Nutcracker, D2hackit, etc program in order to play and compete in PVP..
So basicly im all for the localized Servers not saying some Americans dont hack its just they dont do it in a big way like people from the Asian theater.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith
AMEN!
I can remember in Diablo II, you're in town getting attacked by other players... You're like "uh..."
Lienage II was HORRIBLE, and still is with hacks. I agree with you.
What will he do next?
Well since everyone in my guild is in NA, I don't really have a problem with this. :P
But even though, I can't believe Blizzard is doing this. I know there are many people who have "multi-country guilds", and they're going to get split up.
Well... this could be the start of a new SOE! (j/k ).

First online petitions are really about as useful as something not useful.
Second I kind of like the idea of localized servers.
I pretty much stopped playing Diablo 2 after we had that influx of asian players on the USWest server.
Mythic did the exact same thing with DAoC. If you wanted to play on US servers, you had to buy the US version of the game.
Amen. Let the asians cheat/bot/hack the crap out of each other. Forced localization is the way to go.

uhm, no, its not exactly the same: see, i am from austria, and i could buy the US box easily, but still blizzard doesnt let me play because i dont have a US credit card.
i am amazed that this whole "we dont give a shit for international guilds" thing from blizzard doesnt heat up the tempers in this forum...
I like the forced servers.... Its only non NA people who complain about this the most cuz they ALL wanna play on the US/NA servers... You dont see people from NA complaining often about this cuz we all play on the US/NA servers just like the rest of the world should play on THEIR OWN SERVERS!!!
So what if half your guild is Euro and other half is NA.... Its probabaly time to split up the guild anyways and make new friends who share common interests from your own countries.
to forced servers
how exactly did you come to the conclusion that gamers from europe and from the us can't share common interests?
i would say, vakktn, get to know some people outside your apparently quite limited circle of friends, maybe you become a bit openminded (or just stop being mischievous)
I never said people from europe and the us cant share common interests... Im just saying its not hard to find people on their own servers who have the same interests as well... I dont see why europeans NEED to play on US/NA servers when they have their own....Just be happy you can play at all never mind what servers you get to play on. Its a game not a social experiment. People get too worked up over these petty things.
EDIT - BTW I was in a guild in SWG that had people from all over the world and I have friends from the UK so I dont see why your above statement has anything to do with mine....
i dont get what the deal is with localized servers....one of my good buddies in europe, the only reason y i have decided to get WoW, is not gonna b able to play iwth me because of this? screw that let me at the petition...ill go troll the blizzard boards if i have 2, dont mess with me i know TEH SPAM TRICKS!
FREE WORLD OF WARCRAFT!!!
FREE WORLD OF WARCRAFT!!!
ill make a deal here...if this doesnt go through ill eat blizzard! wort wort!
This is an attempt on Blizzards part to pace their bandwidth issues to match the growth of the game (imo) and not a conspiracy to seperate users from their guilds.

I don't know why you think Blizzard doesn't care about international customers?! <sigh> Did you miss the "there will be an option shortly after launch for people to change to any server part?!
[/b][/quote]
question is, what is "shortly" in blizzards eyes? the european version gets released 2-4 months later, and we euros cannot import the us box and play on us servers, because we dont have us credit cards
--> so our guildmates play at least 2-4 months longer and have high-level chars when we can only start to play, and then only on euro servers. then lets add a few weeks before we can change servers... thats not userfriendly imho

I dont care. . .doesnt impact me. Seems like politics of fear, just as the PvP issues have been. Same ol vocal minority.
Good for Blizzard.
I think you should go sign that petition. It's only fair

i do indeed want to play together with them; how should that work with them being lvl 45+ and me being lvl 20something???
and with the language argument... i'm from austria, so my mother language is german, nonetheless i can express myself fluently in english - why should you want to deny me from playing on US servers?
They should do BOTH.
They should have server restricted to some areas for low latency.
If players want low latency or are xenophobic, there is no point in making ALL the servers internationals. An internationnal server can be based in any country and having differents internationals would be good, but some locals only would not be bad, especialy for players with issues with latency.
Players should be allowed to move from the local to the international server under some conditions(like once per month, on a precise day, if they click something...) They should be allowed to do the opposite at any moment, yet unable to come back to the internationals at the next date, needing to jump 1(to avoid spammers that just want to say hiya with their mains and cause many working issues, they can create low alternates or use chatwide stuff rather then come back and then move again the next day).
If in any MMORPG game I am playing there is 1 precise server that is local to where I live(Qu

I think a big reason why they are doing this is to balance out the servers ahead of time, that way there aren't say 2 servers that are maxxed and 10 more that have 25% population. This is what causes a lot of problems at launch with big games because so and so says they are going on a certain server, and before you know it, a few thousand more follow and crowd it up. Also, keeping the same language per server will help out communication amongst the players. I know I sure don't want another FFXI experience where you can't understand half the players. I just hope that they do not go the same route as FFXI did with world passes. It would be horrible to have to go through that experience again if you have a few RL friends trying to get on the same server.
