Ok as in my other thread im looking for a good card that can run ao I was told my machine was agp 8 in these forums but its wrong I got this card from pc progress http://www.pcprogress.com/product.asp?m1=pw&pid=ASN6600GT%2FTD%2F128 which is a 84 dollar card I can replace it with another card on there website so if you have any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it. And please refrain from telling my a 128 mb graphics card wont do any good on my machine to run anarchy online for decent performance I simply do not believe you I have known people with old machines to run some pretty great games, I may not know alot about computers but I know some things about them and I deffinatly know that ao recommended specs are my pc except the graphics card I dont know why you people try to convince me otherwise.

I apologize if I sound rude in anyway and even in my other post but I got the impression a few where just pretending to know what they where talking about im sorry but I do have a nonsense meter and I want everyone to know I truly appreciate any advice you can give me and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Here is my dxdiag file.

tbh mate there comes a time when we all have to buy a new system and I think this is your time.

edit-honest mate any money you spend on that system will be a waste,my advice is to save your cash and get a newer system even if it is a budget system it will be alot better, dont waste cash to upgrade.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I will get an upgrade in maybe like 5 months but anarchy online is an older game it will do fine please I just want a recommendation on some pci express from pcprogress.com thats all I want I need to return the card they sent me and replace it with another one of theres. That is the only advice im looking for at the moment I dont want to keep an older machine but I simply dont have a choice right now and want to make good with what I got there is no crime in that.

Your at it again... I know you don't like me OP but I am going to give you last piece of advise.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Angel tbh no-one is going to advise a card for that system for the simple fact is they know it isnt worth it,It may sound harsh but if we did advise we would look stupid, the system you have isnt worth any sort of upgrade it really is as simple as that.

If you you really feel the need to spend a small amount of cash to play that game i would bet you could buy a 2nd hand system for next too nothing that would do the job.

You're asking for advice on a card for less than 100 dollars? Does it matter? What sort of advice could you possibly need that you don't know already?

I'm not trying to be rude, but there is a very easy search function on that website that will let you pick PCI-E. It will show you all the video cards. Pick one out. Lots of 256MB around 100 dollars or less. Surely, you can handle that without our opinions on which 100 dollar or less video cards are the best.

Okay mate, first of all take a look at this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DELL-OPTIPLEX-GX110-SFF-PC-PENTIUM-III-667Mhz-7-5Gb_W0QQitemZ180233800548QQihZ008QQcategoryZ179QQcmdZViewItem because that is how much your entire rig is worth, and I'm being generous.  Sorry if that sounds harsh but you are talking of spending at least double of the PC's value on a video card.  Secondly, PCi-E had not even been developed in 1999 when that PC was manufactured, what you have is standard PCi and I would be very surprised if any retailer stocked PCi video cards anymore.  With that said I would advise you to check for one on EBay or some other similar outlet.

Before you buy one you need to check the bios settings to ensure that the onboard Intel graphics can be disabled.  If they cannot then looking for a new card is a moot point as you would just create a conflict between the two graphics systems.

Ok perhaps I was not clear enough I needed advice in knowing what I can actually run without frying my computer as in power supply and etc, I was not sure of the limitations and what is wrong with asking what a good performance card would be on this computer. Why do you all insist on my getting another rig, good god how many times do I have to say I simply do not have the money for a better rig again I do not there is no 100 dollar better computer out there I have looked.

I was told this computer was like 2002 or 2003 but I guess I was wrong give up, thanks for all the encouragement no really thanks for actually reading my post and still insisting I get another computer with no money makes me feel really fucking great have a nice day.

Okay, you know what, Angel left and I happened to chance on this. I'm his fiance and first off what's making you look stupid is that fact that you obviously didn't read a damn thing he posted. We DO NOT have the money to but a new computer, we have a enough to but a little upgrade for now. At the very beginning he told you this, obviously you guys aren't smart enough to read, let alone answer his question. Thank you all for your time but keep your opinions to yourself unless you read the whole damn thing and have an ACTUAL  answer for the question, not a bunch of BS.

Perhaps you should read my previous post in it's entirety because the only ones looking stupid here are you and your boyfriend.  If he insists on getting another vga card for his PC then there are a number of PCi cards here http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=pci+graphics+card&_sacat=See-All-Categories  Note PCi and not PCi-E as the latter would not fit.  Also ensure that the onboard Intel graphics can be disabled before fitting a new card.

In answer to the question about what games you could play on that machine just do a google search for retro games that were released in 1999 - 2000

Even if the onboard graphics can be disabled he needs to be sure that he can even run a 128 mb card on his system. a pc that old ofent requires a bios update to run more then a 64 mb card and sometimes will not accept more then a 64 mb card regardless of what you do to it.

Now Angelbound if you can go here http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/index.php possibly they will have a magic cure for you. I doubt it, but you never know these guys are pro's

First off, thank you for finally answering Angel's post about graphics cards. Second off, I did read your ENTIRE post as I had read everyone else's. No we're not the one's looking stupid Eric, but if you go and read everyone else's posts, not one person mentioned anything about a graphics card, just about how crappy the computer is. That was not his question. We know it's a crappy computer, but it's all we have and to get a good computer is kinda costy, so we're doing what we can with what we have. How is it that we are being stupid for trying to live and save money, especially when we're starting a famliy together? No, what's stupid is when people think everyone in the world has enough money to get a good computer.

To be honest, this is not exactly true. The best advice you were giving was to not bother trying to upgrade this system. Angel mentions several times that you guys are saving money to buy a new system, so save the money that you would spend on buying a card for this PC and put it towards buying the new one.

waiting awhile to get something decent wont kill you, and anarchy online along with what ever other games you guys like will probably still be there.

but like I said before if you really are persistant in upgrading just go to maximumpc.com forums

  • mrcalhoumrcalhou Member UncommonPosts: 1,444

Angel and Angel's fiance, if you would have read one of the posts, they mentioned they feel that they would look stupid suggesting something for that rig. If you are old enough to be getting married, then you are old enough to not have to throw a hissy-fit when someone suggests a course of action that is contrary to what you wish. To them the problem you have isn't worth spending that kind of money and you would be better off waiting. Whether you like their advice or not, it is uncalled for for you to both behave in the manner in which you did. Frustration is no excuse to be a jerk. Good day.
