Access to open Beta without a pre-order of any kind

I am very interested in this game, I would like to try the open beta but I don't want to commit to a pre-order to do so. Are they going to allow people to try the game absolutely consequence free before the 18th or will that come later after retail?

Sign up for the beta on their website and hope you get in?

That's probably it.  And good luck with that.  Open betas haven't been truly open for a long time.

It likely won't happen till a while after release. Except for perhaps buddy keys and the like.

You can get a pre-order for as little as a dollar. I really don't see why people are making such a big deal out of this.

I remember when open beta was actually an open beta for testing, and not a preview of the full game for people who already bought it...

    Chances are no.

Not sure if it's exclusive, but I'm pretty sure it is.

It's also $5 dollar minimum pre-order at EB Games or GameStop, so it really isn't that big of a commitment.

So what you're looking for is a Free Trial for a game before it even launches?

    Sounds silly to me.

A pre-order is hardly a major commitment. Put down your dollar and cancel your pre-order if the BETA version isn't your cup of tea.

I thought the difference between Open Betas and Closed Betas was whether or not there was a NDA?

I just looked into the 5 dollar pre-order and I can't find it, both EB games and Gamestop want the full 50 dollars for the Pre-order GoGamer wants 49. I will take a chance and 5$ is worth it just to try it for a while, I just can't find a site that will let me do that.

Is the 5$ deal only in-store?  I would need an online one.

99cents at Target.  no furthur committments.

Get your OB, your Headstart and 2 in game items.  If you later wish to buy the retail version, you have a $5 coupon to buy from there.

Im guessing your relatively new to the concept of pre ordering games.  Only Instore Offers ask you put 5 dollars DOWN towards the Game. THey aren't charging you for the codes just ensuring they get a downpayment towards the game when it releases.

Internet stores do not take any money from you at all.  There's no down payment etc. They do NOT charge your card until the item ships.  EB/Gamestop, Amazon, GoGamer etc do NOT take a dime from you online until the game ships.

I keep laughing everytime people go "Oh its just 5 bucks" psh its  a 5 dollar down payment that you can get back (or a store credit) if you decide to cancel your pre order.  You just have to keep the receipt.  If you keep your pre order the 5 dollars comes off what you pay for the game.

Online you dont have to downpayment since they have youre method of payment on record.

I wouldn't be suprised if FilePlanet have some kind of access to Open Beta for their subscribers, but that's still not free. FilePlanet will at the very least have access just for the Stress Test event when that occurs, as they have access to a much wider base.
