New Rohan: Blood Feud Correspondent Jay T. Clark pens this first look at the game that is currently in open beta.

Imagine for a moment that you are a great warrior- a warrior from a vast continent inhabited by warriors of all races.  In your quest, you are destined to follow in the footsteps of your ancestors, while striving to maintain the very existence you know and love.  Many wars are waged on this land, and you must fight among men, elves, half-elves, and the many other evils that lurk on your beloved birthplace.  This is the world of Rohan Online:Blood Feud.  And guess what?  It's the newest free-to-play MMO from YNK Interactive.

The Basics

Rohan Online: Blood Feud is a fantasy free-to-play MMORPG built atop a persistent world that is filled with hard fought battles and countless quests to embark upon.  As with any modern MMORPG, you may choose to go at it alone, or journey together with friends to solidify your place among Rohan's greatest of warriors.  As you shape your identity in Rohan, you may choose to form guilds and as such, fight for the respect you and your warriors deserve.  Furthermore, just this month YNK Interactive announced the addition of Township battles, which will extend the fight from PvP to guild versus guild.  In addition to the in-game battles and quests, Rohan has an impressive trade center which consists of a web-based item mall and exchange market.  So, let's take a deeper look at Rohan by discussing the various classes that are available to players, the battle system, a few of the things that make Rohan an awesome MMO, and lastly we can briefly discuss the details of the Trading Center.

Check out the whole thing here.

Cheers,

I think the Tolkien people might have some issues with the game name involving copyright violations.  How hard is it to make up a name that  does not conflict with other copyrights?

I remember reading about this game back when i was still playing l2. Ima give it a try since it seems interesting.

The name Rohan has existed for centuries, long before Tolkien ever used it in his books. I don't think they have anything to worry about.

    Rohan meanings

So many variations, including a French provence. JRR does not own it. Of course the fact it is with a Fantasy based world sure does raise eyebrows.

    They are safe

And if Turbine decides to add a Rohan expansion?  They have the legal right to the license to the material.  Sorry using the word Rohan in the title is just asking for trouble.  If Turbine were to take them to court, the Rohan people would be in deep water.  Just a dumb move on their part!

This would be incorrect for several reasons. Tolkien Enterprise does not own the rights to the name "Rohan" as then anything with the word "Rohan" in it would be liable. Tolkien did not create this word.

This would be like saying WAR cannot use the word Warhammer in it's title as the word Warhammer already exists (as an object)

Turbine purchased the license for LOTR from Tolkien, and as such abide by their rules.

Finally, this game has actually existed for close to 2 years of development in Korea, and is actually named

    R.O.H.A.N. Online

We can assume the ROHAN stands for something seeing it is noted as an acronym. What that is, or why we do not know.

Anyone Korean or Japanese that can enlighten us?

It actually changed its name from System Holic Rohan Online to R.O.H.A.N. Online. Probably because of Holic Online which is a cartoony anime cookie cutter asian grind that should not be named but anyway...

Everyone is correct, using the name Rohan is not illegal or infringes copyright rights. It would however if they made a city called Rohan that looked or felt like the Rohan in Lord of the Rings. The devs are not stupid trust me they have their lawyers to do all this crap for them.

Oh ya and almost forgot R.O.H.A.N. stands for: Renaissance of Human and Nature

I tried this out, and while it's not a bad game by any means (for a free one), it didn't seem to be all that populated

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there

  • starelvenstarelven Member Posts: 2

It was extremely populated and promising in the beginning, however there were many critical issues which were voiced by a large portion of the population and were never improved.  The game was also flooded with botts to such a degree that a majority of the active players left and now as the botts are slowly draining out the true population of the servers is finally being seen.  It had potential but mostly failed by not listening to the testers IMO.

Yeah like the extreme grind that was voiced by ~80% of the people, but ignored or "fixed" by cash shop items.

Or the fact that there is no endgame content except for the 1 hr a day Town Wars, or the 1hr per week town wars.

I gave up on this game a while ago, since it seemed the only thing they concentrated on was the cash shop.

My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.

No, I wouldnt waste your time playing Rohan Blood Fued. It lacks of support, has bots left and right, almost every guild botted to be high lvl to win Town war. Reported bots to gms and they didnt do anything. The graphix and the mobs in the game is like they stole it all from Archlord. They even have a mob named Archlord. and theres hacks every where that ppl are using. just a warning pick another game. Already a bunch left because of these probelms. Now all servers are on light. Now the game is almost dead but Im sure they will throw a event in. some ppl will come play but I wouldnt count on it.

I would not recommend this game to anyone.

I got to top level from beta in 2 months and in my experience this game needs alot of work.

The domination in each server with the Kill on Sight and Guild war is rather sickening, the glitches and bugs for being stuck and game client hanging is also disturbing. You cannot avoid being pk at all, so if you were to play this game do not offend anyone with a guild that dominates the server, else risk being hunted like a dog, ack such a stupid system.

But most importantly it lacks contents, etc the quests are boring, there is no crafting but merely forging for armors/weapons which is such a frustrating experience even with use of item shop. (etc .. you can spend $50usd just to forge an item and still get no result) the quests also gets lesser the higher level you go. the grind also becomes uglier as well.

There is also damage reduction in pvp as compared to japan/korean rohan. It is also not as updated as the other versions, which means there is really nothing else to do but grind and pk players.

All in all, this game is just not worth the money, time and effort.
