Aye thnx for the post. You asnwered some of my questions. I still dont understand one of the aspects of this game: When you say " if your moving from side to side from him (contrarely to straight at him)" how can i do that? In my experience, all I could do to force my ship to move is: a) warp b) Approach c) Orbit I noticed there is a cruise control so I thinkn i cna move my ship freely in a straight line, but I dont know how to "strafe" or move it to the left or right.. Am I missing something? Thanks

[/quote] Well, you did'nt miss much, it's just that if you double click in space, your ship will change direction to go That way, you can simply rotate your view, click anywhere (in the void) and the ship will start to go in that direction..
The only movement where you are not free is like to warp toward nothing, you have to have a destination. except from that, you can fly around as you wish.
So to be more concrete, if you are flying toward an opponent, you just rotate your view 90 degree, double-click in space then return back to the original view... you will see your ship turn and if you are firing at the opponent, you will see that you are firing at him from he side instead of the front of your ship... now, his ship will have an hard time tracking yours if the gun have a slow tracking speed. Some might argue that it will be harder for you too to hit him, but that's another topic. So it's not really strafing, just turning (remember the engine are on the back of the ship, so no strafe!)
It's like every other game you have played, it's got good points and bad points, I won't go into either as the tolerance for saying anything bad about any game draws immediate 'fanboy' yelps.....
Try it, if you like it, play it, if you don't like it.... move along.... there is a free trial so you are not gonna pay anything to try.
1) Too advance controls and not very easy to remember shortcuts also almost every letter on a keybord is a shortcut of some kind and i already have a hard time to remember Star Wars Galaxies shortcuts hehe.
2) I don't have a credit card but also i already play two games and both have subscription so i already pay 21$ every month.
3) I think im too small in age to play.
4) Its hard to play so many games (i play 2 games atm.) that i like VERY much at the same time but its more hard to say "ok now i play this game and tomorrow i play this" thats not easy just to say and then do it.
5) Hmm there ain't any 5th reason well then im done.
Others have already stated that Eve has a steep learning curve. That is so very true. The reason for the steep learning curve is because it is not just another cookie cuttter MMORPG.
If you want rapid fire hack and slash combat do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Combat is fairly fast, but you will spend lots of time traveling to and from fights.
The game has the best player ran market system I have ever seen. The total customization of characters skill path's are so sweet as well. If you get bored mining then learn how to fight and go do it. If you get bored with that you can go do something else. Better yet, you do not have to unlearn skills if you decide to try something else out. So you can try something out, and if you do not like it you can go back to what you were doing with no loss.
Just remember though, it is going to take some thinking to get into this game. If you do not like that then stay away.
Ok maybe some reasons where bad but yeah it takes time to learn i know that and i have though of playing EVE when i get my own credit card, but of what i've seen on screenshots and movies, trailers and what i have read then EVE sounds like it was made by the players and their thoughts.
Movement in Eve is not like any other MMORPG. Your ship can fly in a straight line but you can't strafe like other games.
You can out run incomming missle fire...but you need the skills to do so. it also requires that your ship be fitted with Duel Micro Warp Drives....A type of Afterburner! Your ship needs to get its velocity over 2,000 KM/Sec and that is no easy feat!
I fly a Crow Interceptor-Elite Frigate. when I go into combat I click "Orbit" and Orbit at 500 meters I then Warp Scramble my target and then unleash my missles. or do a fly by or dive bomb manuver. IF I am fired at I then Duel MWD away but be aware when you use your Duel MWD's your Radar Signature becomes that of a SMALL MOON! making it easy for other ships to target you and fire on you!!
Really folks this game is one of the most balanced in game. hell even a character with less Exp can take a more seasoned Vet down on a good day!

Dual? and don't you mean 2000 m/s?
*Catastrofik takes his rifter in to have the speedometer calibrated, his rifter says it does over 2km/s with a standard 1MN MWD while outrunning missles.
Anyway, the comments about being the most balanced game...they are right on!
Yes I did say 2,000 k a sec. and the Rifter can do it with 1 mwd. sorry I was talking in general. I really didn't cut to the specifics of which frigi can and can not do it. but thanks for the back up.
