It has been brought to our attention that Laura aka "Taera" Genender, former community manager here are MMORPG.com and the Associate Community manager for CCCP's EVE has passed away. Here is a link to the post over at Massively.com in case you care to read it. She will be deeply missed.

That's sad I had no idea. She looked so young in the videos. She will be missed greatly
Thanks Teala, I had no idea.

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
It's Sunday morning, hun. i don't think they've noticed yet.
Wow. I mean just wow
This is shocking as it gets.
Everyone knows , i had lot of bad blood with Laura. And often criticized her managing this forums.
But that is all lot of nothing , forumwash, unimportant - she was a good person , passionate of her job , games , and ol' lot of this community.
It is a shame that she left this world all to early
Now where ever you are Laura. Rest in peace. We will all remember you with lot of respect and love
Our hearts and love go out to all her family and friends...another soul who left this world too early

We have, we have.
It was hard to find words yesterday evening, and i still find it impossible to write something appropriate now that i found some sleep.
Give it some time until the rest of the staff comes back.
No way. I can't believe it. And to think that no more than a week ago, I was looking for her e-mail adress to send her a 'congrats' with the new job, seeing as I'm an active EVE player as well and she was my boss whilst I worked as a moderator here at MMORPG.com.
What horrible news. You will be missed, you were one of the best community managers I have ever had the pleasure of both working for and being a member of the community of. This deeply saddens me. I loved her personal touch in every post she made and every PM she sent.

I always thought she did a good job here as community manager. The dealings I had with her were always fair.
Did anyone know her personally? I hope she wasn't clinically depressed or something and didn't end her life herself.
I can't help but experience disbelief over seeing a familiar name like this pass on. This doesn't seem right.. not at all.
It's difficult to wrap the head around this kind of news without some sort of reason behind the passing.
edit: Thanks for letting folks know Teala.
With no news of how she passed it's highly likely it was an "untraditional" method of passing.
It sucks to see someone pass. I personally did not know her and don't recall dealing with her when I was banned for awhile.
Her energy has been released from the human form that binds us to this plane. She's in a better place and her energy flows around those close to her at all times.
This is the river of life. Sometimes there's rocks in said river, but life will flow on.
My best of wishes go out to her family, friends, and close others.
She was here at the 2008 Indie MMO Developers Conference in Minneapolis. If you wish to know more about Laura here is an article about her from Sweet Briars College from 04-19-2007.

R.I.P. Laura
Hi guys,
Believe me, we didn't forget or miss it. We wanted to make sure that word had been passed to her extended family and friends before we made an official posting about it (which we have now).
I have to be honest here as well in saying that Laura was quite a close friend of mine and something in me has had trouble finding the words to make an official announcement. My head has been spinning ever since I got the news and I wanted to make sure I had taken the time to personally assess the situation before addressing it publically.
In our news post, I mentioned that there will be a full memorial to her posted tomorrow. I hope everyone takes the time to read it and make a comment or two.
Cheers,

This month has not been too kind to me...I have recently lost a friend that I grew up with and now someone I have talked too on many occasions here at MMORPG.com since I registered back in 2004 that i call a friend. I was truly an honor to know her. She will be missed terribly, but I know her spirit lives on and i know she will look after us here like she used too. My prayers go out to everyone that knew her either from here or in the real.
R.I.P Laura
We all love you and miss you dearly
Thank you Jon. ::hugs::
no way, that is too early. Sad to hear.
Ack, I've still got emails from her regarding my bans from overbearing forum moderators.
No, actually, I deserved most of them but Laura and I traded communications on several occasions and she always handled the situation with grace and tact.
Seeing that she is younger than my daughters makes her passing especially sad for me. (I was sad see her leave MMORPG.com, even though she was moving to my current game).
God keep your soul Laura.
