I don't think there is an answer to this question. It really depends on the people you are playing with. Lets put it this way, if your team is bad, everyone dies.
Best at solo pve or one on one pvp is a different question.
In your oppinion , which class (order and des) would best suit player that is not part of organised pvp guild. Somebody that likes just to log in and duke out in a pug enviroment - or even solo contributing to rvr
if your talking about PvP /RvR none of them .
PvE all of them .
i know that kinda sounds stupid but it really is true .

to elaborate on his point... the devs said that they are making it so that a certain class has certain weaknesses and advantages towards other classes... that's why none of them in pvp...
also they said they are making it so every class can have fun and stand on their own... that's why all of them in pve ^^
I think that it will all come down to the playstyle of the idividual and how well they understand their character, the environment around them and the potential of the enemy. When I played DAoC I would run around in the enemy's RVR zone on my warrior (tank) and was able to kill quite a few people who were either soloing out there or fell behind the other group.
With skill and luck, just about anybody can solo in rvr. (based on my DAoC experience)
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

Witch Hunter, its a good Melee/Ranged DPS class. Its good for quick sorties, go behind enemy lines and kill some squishies.

I would put my money on melee dps classes.
Healers could be viable too as well as Ranged, but melee dps are supposed to kill easily those two archtypes

Well , i thought more like
Playing Shadow Warrior , standing on the edge of battle and taking down strugglers. Or BW
...
I dont see this being impossible in PVP/RVR
BW would be good stand out of the fray and nuke/dot your way to fame
