So that's that. I may add some other stuff later, like maybe a killer network card, and maybe and HD writer later, but for now i"m okay with my PS3 for a blue ray.
Any oppinions on this build?

nice system.
Except the case, you have a hell of a system giving a hell of alot of heat.
I suggest looking into the Thermaletake Armor series or i think its the antec 900
Both are great.
I can always add some cooling later on that's no big issue. I was going to get the gigbyte 3D aurora initially, but changed my mind at the store. That's one thing I should have done a little bit more resrach on. I might do liquid cooling after a bit, but right now I jsut want that computer. I'm really annoyed cuz I was just selected for the closed Beta for WAR, but my other computer is Bricked. (I could have cried whenI saw that Email) At least I can read how some of the things work and what they are doing, but ATM until I get the rig I can't be directly involved. :~(

Dam, that's really good
I'll trade you my open beta for it! xD
LOL nah I think I'll keep it. I have three open beta codes anyhow. I work at EB games. I have access to plenty more if I want them too . Muhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks good except ATI = fail.
More like nvidia = fail, amirite? I think I am.
Well, from what I hear this vid card blows the tits off any card out currently So that's why I went for it,and I've heard the combo of inten and Crossfire is the best choice atm for what I am wanting. I don't think Either Fail. I just want the most current and the best. In another ten days I"m sure something else will come out that smokes the card I got. It's the nature of the gaming industry. Things change. Oh well. I will take a picture of me and this computer just after opening it....alla Abby from NCIS.

Where have you been the last 6 months? ATI>>>> Nvidia right now
lol I think I have a habit of stoking the controvercial fires in people when it comes topics regarding processors, and vid cards. There always seems to be a debate. Then again I did ask good or bad, it seems this time however ATI has more followers than Nvidia. I had Nvidia in the past and I liked it, but that was a year and a half ago when I was playing COV and COH. It was good for then, but hew I like trying new foods, why not Video cards.

if you go with that rig, you should get a 64 bit version of windows.
because 32bit got a 4GB limit, and the graphic card use 2GB, system resources will use around 500MB or more.
so you will only have around 1GB ram to use.

I'm looking at a similar build, same cpu, 2xHD in RAID-0 and probably just the 512Mb HD4870. I considered the x2 ut as I'm only using a 20" Monitor at the moment it would be overkill. I can always crossfire another 4870 if I get a bigger monitor. I'm still undecided on the case, I'll probably get the Coolermaster 1000.
Yeah I have a 23" LCD for my Display and yeah I have gone with the 64 bit Version of Vista. I feel bad about getting Vista, but I was direx 10 so I'm going to suck it up.
I'm glad to hear you are getting a similar or same case, a little more reassuring after a previous comment about it .

I really hope you plan on doing something like 3D rendering or video encoding on that machine cause If not I don't see what performance gains you'll be seeing as most games still arent SMP aware. As far as WAR goes it would be completely overkill
Well, it's more future proofing, but I do use my computer for things other than gaming. I work on Composition and I do some editing and such, so it'll be used for other things.

If you are concerned about future proofing then don't buy that processor at all. Read up some on Intels Nehalem. Should be coming around September hopefully
some info
www.intel.com/technology/architecture-silicon/next-gen/
Seeing this new tech come out so soon if you were forced to upgrade now I would go hell of a lot cheaper with processor like an E8400 which is a dual core running at 3ghz per core. Seeing as most games still (and WAR) don't use SMP at the moment it would be a lot cheaper yet still faster in the short term. Take the money you save and invest in a smaller upgrade to Nehalem a few months after launch.

When I feel the need to upgrade I will, but for now this will do me plenty fine.
I appreciate all the feedback. THose processors do look pretty hot though

I was about to mention you picked an excellent card but it seems you already realize it. It blows the crap out of the newer Geforce series.
Even with how fast video cards are upgraded ( the fastest improved part of the computer) It should last you for at least a year if you're planning on constantly playing games on max settings. If you're planning on playing games on max and can live with med once the card does get old, it'll at least last you three or four. Most games don't even aim for 8 series yet.
The same could be said about your quad. 4 gigs should be more then plenty for a long while, and the good thing about RAM is that it's cheap as hell so that isn't even a large problem at all. Yeah, your computer should be set lol. Like the first replier mentioned, I'd worry a little about the case and the cooling for such a monster system. But you seem to realize that as well.
Have fun with that thing lol. I'm building myself a similar system but am deciding on getting the same card or just going with the 8800GT (only for the fact that I have a friend willing to give me his for like $20 bucks) and am also getting a less powerful processor (still quad, but not as high Ghz as you seem to be getting).
EDIT: Oh yeah, one thing I wanted to mention about your processor. Make sure that your motherboard can handle the power it is required for you to run the higher end (2.6+) quads. I don't really know about the mobo you selected because I personally prefer AMD over Intel, but it's important for that quad that it is definitely powerful enough to handle those.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
These new ati cards are being compared to the 280s which are not even nvidia's next gen cards. When the actually ati equivalent generation card releases from nvidia it will bend ATI over its knee and give it a spanking.
Don't be fooled ATI is failcom under a different name.

Part of future proofing, is not buying the brand new because it will jump very quick. Example of Duel cores for AMD, first few where 939, then bam AM2
ITs always best to get the best of a generation, you get the advantage of all the refinements without the new major changes in the next platform.
Not to mention there isnt even full support for quad cores in games yet, so god knows how long its gonna be till the next gens are supported. And if the yarnt supported then its about speed of the cores.
Another part of future proofing would not be spending as much money as he is willing on a socket that for all intents and purposes will be dead in less than 2 months.
the last statement you made completely agreed with the point of my post though.
The vid card is actually not two it's one, but with I think two processors in it. So I'm not using up two slots for it.
It may be over kill for now, but it'll keep for a few years I'm hoping.

Because Warhammer is so graphical intensive and CPU that you need such a powerful PC.
Who let you in the VIP section?
Too funny. No I"m not just getting it for Warhammer. I'm getting it cuz my other computer is bricked and I need a new one, and I feel like getting something worth getting. I know it's not graphically intensive. I'll be well above the minimum/ and recommended requirements, but as I said I wanted something worth getting, even if it's a little rediculous. hahaha

Im almost certain that your 1000w psu is overkill.
I was under the impression that Dual Cores were better for gaming.

And last but not least, no offense to the guys here or to this site but if you want to talk computers and actually get a "Solid" answer and not just some ego stroke, I would go to maximumpc.com/forums and have them peak at your new build to be.
