Wireless networking cards?

Gamefreek333Gamefreek333 Member Posts: 166

For my computer, I want to get a wireless networking card, for Linksys, and my router is on the 2.4GHz channel thing. I want it to be like inside the card in one of the PCI-E slots. Am I missing any information for further help? Thanks guys!

If you have a fast broadband connection, I would reccommend getting an N1 wireless network card. If you have an average broadband connection, I'd say just go with a Wireless G+ MIMO or something.

Belkin are good, uhm, theres also Buffalo, Linksys aswell, if you want go with Linksys, the products I've bought from them before have been very reliable.

If you have a free PCI Slot, you should be fine.

    Hope I helped :)

Thanks much! I'm looking at this one from newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041

That should work with a Linksys router right?

    It should work fine.

With that one, be sure to keep the original drivers, one of the reviewers mentioned having major problems after updating the wireless drivers. (I assume you've read the reviews anyway)

    Good luck :)

Netgear are the best quality in my experience, although to be fair I don't think I have ever tried Belkin.

Also, if you have an Ethernet card installed already, some wireless cards will require you to remove it. I tried to install a wireless card in mine and it freaked out, and wouldn't even recognize the card until I removed the standard Ethernet card.

I'd also be sure to check the frequencies on other wireless devices in the house, especially phones. I've fixed a lot of routers for people who get disconnected every time somebody calls them.
