brand new xtreme notebook

I just bought a brand new notebook with a radeon 256 meg video card and a 3.4 gig intel 4 processor. with 512k ram and a 17 inch widescreen monitor.

THe primary reason why i got all those upgrades was to play World of Warcraft, but now when I look at the screenshots of it, I'm honestly not that impressed by the graphics. I wish they would have pushed the engine a bit more, I understand that they want everyone to be able to play, but if those screenshots were taking in the best quality possible, then I'm considering going with EQ II. I know that I shouldn't go for the game that looks better but that plays a big role. Plus, I've heard a lot of great things about EQ II even though I'm a warcraft/blizzard fan at heart. Can anyone convince me that the graphics on WoW are just as good as EQII or is it a lost cause?

I was looking on the EQ II site and the graphics seriously look fucking sick, especially that image with the elephant, holey fuck. AMAZING. That game looks more true to life, WoW looks a bit more animated and less realistic.

I reccomend you go for the game you find most impressing.
In the end both are just games ::::19::

ya hopefully I'll get to try out both games in a free, Open-Beta enviroment. I'll probably end up going with WoW because I think It'll have a bigger following which should make the game and development better.

I don't know though, I can't get over how clean EQ II looks. The graphics are fucking sick.

And you feel the need to sware on a public forum because...? image

Anywho lol...WoW graphics are very good in their own way IMO, from my experience playing the Stress Test with an ATI 9800 w/everything maxed out.  I don't think screenshots really do any game complete justice...they all seem to look quite a bit better within the game (running)

Not sure how EQ2 will ture out in the end...hopefully I'll be in the beta at some point. Then I'll have an opinion.image

The best "looking" mmog IMO is Lineage 2 ...though you may or may not like the style of gameplay.

Anyway...sounds like a pretty good notebook u got there. Be happy 'bout that!

hahah, yes I am happy. I appologize for my bad language.

I just bought my laptop from www.xtremenotebooks.com .. They have pretty good deals. I doubt I'll play lineage2, that new lord of the rings game looked like fun though as well.

EQ is tempting........ so tempting... But WoW is going to win me over because all my buddies are probably going to play it as well.

I just can't wait to get into the world and start running around. Eventually, start RUNNING things. hahhah =)

Personally I think Lineage 2 graphics are on the same level as WoW.  I havn't seen screen shots from EQ II, but from what I've seen in the past (EQ) I won't even consider trying this game.

IMO, the graphics award goes to DAOC, and with the upcoming player models it'll be that much better.  I sold my accounts (sadly I must say), but I figured with WoW I didn't really want to split my time.  Prior to Stress Test I had been saying I would never play WoW because of the graphics, but like what was previously said, the graphics are better when you're actually in the game.  Screen shots do games no justice.  But the clincher for me was gameplay.  The quests, and just the overall environment of WoW is incredible.  The fact that you don't need to load very often, and even when you do its an extremely quick load time.

Just my two cents....I'd choose WoW over EQII any day.

westypimp: Go read some of the IGN reviews that they have published.. There they say that the graphics are bad if you look at one single chararcter or object at a time. BUT if you enter the game and look at it as a whole, you will be so drawn into it you wont belive it.........Now EQ2 might have good graphics, the same goes for matrix online (I have tested them both) but they don't give you the feeling that everyone is looking for in a game. So if you want to go for a heavy graphics game then be my guest... It's not like the end of the world or anything....... Personally I can't understand why you would like to have a notepad as a gaming computer compared to a normal staionary, besides you probalby don't get more out of it then 1.4 1.5 ghz if you don't have the charger in.. Also you should go for more ram that's the important thing for mmorpg (you will need at least 1 gig of ram for EQ2 or MxO if you want the good graphics). Hmmmm there was one more thing I wanted to add *processing* Oh yea.. If you compare chars to chars or object to object Linage2 will probably have better graphics but WoW has more emersive...

Nizze78: The reason why I bought a laptop is because I need to use it for work and school. I figured, instead of buying two pc's, a laptop and a desktop. I might as well just buy a laptop that can do both. Okay, no given, the desktop would be a better choice for gaming. But in all honesty, you don't like a laptop with a 3.4 gigahertz, 256 meg video card, wouldn't be able to atleast PLAY WoW with the power outlet plugged into the wall. I understand that it wouldn't operate well off a batery because it'll juice it so quickly but I never had that in mind. I do realize that I should have got more RAM but I didn't want to invest more money into it at this time without atleast trying it out first. I can always upgrade the ram later if it really needs it.

Secondly, why not go for graphics? Blizzard has always been on the cutting edge of graphics, or atleast it's seemed like that to me. So why didn't they push the envelope with WoW and try to punish all the other gaming companys with the best looking game and the best game overall? I do realize that WoW will probably be the most popular and have the best story line, becuase that's always been one of blizzards strong points.

Anyways, I've typed too much already, lol --- payce. And don't hate on my badass laptop!!!! hahah

westypimp: I would gladly exchange my 2.0 ghz 512 ram 20 gb harddrive laptop for yours(My school gave me that computer and I hate it). No No No, It's not that your battery will run out fast.....well that to, but if you don't change it in bios the cpu will take down it's hertz because it gets to hot otherwise and the fan will drain to much power.. And if you change it your laptop will barely last for 30 min without charge.... Anyhow I am glad you will choose WoW cause belive me. EQ2 and MxO ain't worth it no matter what the noobs in the MxO forum say. I will tell you this.. YOu laptop will do just fine in WoW... Just turn down the graphics if you get in to PvP and there is more then 100+ people fightingimage  (Everyone has to exuse me for any misspellings (didn't get that one right hehe) in this text, I am a swede)

OKay cool, but one more time. I"m not going to play the game unless I have the laptop plugged into the wall.. In other words, I won't be using the battery life or 'draining' it. SO i don't have to worry about it overheating or not using enough cpu usage..

Thanks for the comment though, very insightful.
