"Prior to the open beta, Mythic will be hosting a special North American Beta Preview Weekend, from August 22nd through August 25th, and 100,000 players will be invited to end the closed beta with a bang. Those who pre-ordered the now sold-out Collector's Edition will get top priority, but all are welcome to sign up at FilePlanet.com and try for a spot in this exciting event!"

Guess that's why the package was available for download from fileplanet 3 weeks before open beta starts.

I'm guessing they're sending out the invites in batches since 100,000 emails / account upgrades don't normally happen in a single day. I'm guessing meerely because my account's not been updated and I'm a CB tester and a CE pre order both of which were told we're auto getting into the Preview Weekend. IGN.com either didn't understand this or Mythic changed their minds which would semi piss me off a tad (not to the point of cancelling).

but I tohught it was 1week BEFORe open beta, guess its this week...yay!
Sorry to double post but it seems mythic has a habit of doing stuff either an hour or two right before midnight or a few hours before noon so I'd say around then...

Actually the official date, not from IGN but from Mythic itself for Open Beta to begin in Sunday the 7th of September, not next week.
Also I guess I'm the only one that find it odd that the article quoted from IGN here has it's dates all wrong by saying the files for open beta were available on the 15th from fileplanet, yet they were not until this morning. That information is several days old now, yet they posted the wrong dates.
Call me skeptical about the article, not the dates as I believe that the Preview weekend will happen either this weekend or next for certain, but if they got the date wrong for open beta downloads and had 3 days to fact check before posting this...what makes everyone so certain they got the dates for Preview weekend correct?
Now that being said, I'm approved for preview weekend and have the open beta files download this very moment and I hope they're right...but...that information isn't officially from Mythic but from IGN, and they got some dates wrong in that very article.

Yes. Don't ever expect an email, hehe. I got into Beta (I found out by checking the betacenter) and yet, never got an email specifically letting me know I'd been accepted.
So I'd say you're in for the Preview.
