How is the crafting in this game? Is it useful? Is the best gear from crafting? is it fun? Is it mindless click here to make 1`2000 items or is it more in depth than that?
I know crafting is generally an afterthought in games, and especially in an rvr game..but wow crafting and aoc crafting (aoc crafting--LOLOLOLO) both sucked and were useless timesinks. Hoping the crafting in war is useful and fun.

really? no one?
Truthfully and honestly crafting is an absolute joke and the only reason at all to even pick up a trade skill in beta is to get enough money to buy a mount.
well, if you say people do it for money...there must be some market for the stuff you craft ....
seriously though, is it that bad?
I tried apoth and made it to 4th skill before giving up on it. It made some decent potions, but it was the cost of the ingredients that stopped me. Sure they are not all that expensive, but I ended up blowing 2 levels worth of skill funds on it :P
Other than that its fairly easy to understand and follow. At most it will take you 2 seconds to figure it out (hardest part was finding the apoth skill in my abilities :P)
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Nope.
Crafting is the one area I feel is still incomplete. Not enough crafting types currently in game but there is groundwork in place for some additional types. What is in is so so and CAN be useful but compared to crafting in other games it is minimalistic at best.
An earlier post mentioned getting mount money. Its not really that there is a market for the stuff but that the raw materials you can get off of corpses you can sell to vendors to help augment your cash flow. There will be a player market but its unclear at this time how much it will be utilized with crafting materials.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Yeah there a market, it's called the NPC vendor.
WAR is a great MMO but has taken about 5 steps backwards in terms of crafting/economy.
Burnt out of WoW and WoW's PvP, WAR is for you. Looking for an alternative game experience, WAR is not for you.
gotcha. First really sad thing I have heard yet. Oh well, I'll be busy smashin destruction heads anyway.
Crafting... its nothin special atm.

Drastic opinion but I kinda endorse it.
To think how fanatics reacted when I said I didn't think crafting was such an "awsome" thing, after watching the video where it was explained...
Sad they didn't improve it.

Tho this game was never meant to be for crafters.

This is only becuase the AH is not up, the population is not where it will be at launch, and not even all the crafting is implemented in beta (Talisman making is absent iirc). To say it's 5 steps back when it's not even fully implemented in beta is rather idiotic.
Well, the game is more about cracking skulls than cracking the economic code. I thought I remember hearing something that said that while there would be crafting, it wouldnt be the most epic thing in the game, it was more or less just something you can pick up if you want, and not feel pressured to do it.
There is nothing inherently wrong with the groundwork they have in place for crafting. If they stick to what the videos described it as, it can get better. Its just there is not enough of it implemented. They don't have the variety in. And the reason for that is, they just did not spend as much time working on the crafting as they did other areas. Crafting was lower priority, and sad to say that it does show.
I think its like 3 resource collecting tradeskills, and 2 production tradeskills I think. Simply not enough in place yet.

I'm going to say the contrary, I've leveled up Apycothary to like 95. The potions are really quite useful when you get to higher level, the AH market is not up yet so, this makes it kinda hard to level. Cultivation is essentially usless because it will be providing higher quality ingriendents but its nearly impossible to level it without buying matarials from people (or the NPC but he only sells basic stuff) You can actually earn MORE money buy making potions then selling the ingriedents individually. Talismen making isn't even in yet. You can make the same potions you get from many quests.
Crafting isn't the focus, but it defintly is not usless or just for making money by selling it to vendors.

We're less then a month away form launch, crafting has already gone through it's development stage and it is very underwhelming to say the least. This is coming from someone who absolutly loves the game. I am not however a rabid fanboy that will say crafting is awesome just because I like the rest of the game.
Tailsman making is absent, but it will be more of the same. The crafting system is boring, bland and nothing we haven't seen from a MMO made 10 years ago.
Talisman making may be a little better then the other crafting skills Im thinking. Will have more to do with enchanting weapons which may be a little more important in WAR. But ya in beta right now its just best to get scavenging and sell everything you get from corpses to vendors.
No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.
Im on nobodies' side but my own.
Apothecary isn't so bad. It makes some useful buffs if you want them. I tend to make healing pots for my tank friend. Not sure how useful it is at higher levels.
I will say that cultivating absolutely is terrible. To make 4 plants at level 1 you will spend 12 minutes. 3 minutes per plant and at each minute apply water/soil/fertilizer per plant at the appropriate time during the growth process.
They really need to change it bigtime. Just allow me to apply soil/water/seed in one batch and hit make. Unless cultivation changes I say skip it for sure unless you got hours of time to waste.
Scavenging and butchering much better. You just use it on a corpse and you're done. 2 seconds.
