Magus Comments pls

I played a mage in WoW from time of release and was curious if Magus is the destruction a class that is similar to them?  Don't flame me for asking I am relatively new to WAR and just trying to figure out which class I will most like enjoy.  If some kind beta person would not mind give us the ends and outs of the Magus (op'd, up'd, waste of time for RvR, etc.).  My apologies if this is already been posted these pages of post seem to really be piling up since NDA dropped.

Thanks

    No, not at all.  Sorceress from Dark Elves is the closest class to them as they are pure range dps.  Their big spells can cause backlash that hurts them pretty badly though.

    Magus is a defensive ranged dps + stationary pet caster.  They have an array of stationary pets that do different types of damage (short range aoe, long range single target, short range aoe and single target dots) and some ranged dps spells.  They work best behind the lines defending, but they are an easy target for enemy ranged players.

    both the Magus and the Engineer are being re-evaluated by Mythic. Beta has shown that the classes are lacking in regards to the rest of the classes. Some of the possibilities we might see involve heavier armor stats, buffed pets/turrents, utility and skills.

    Basically right now from what I have gathered is that the Magus goes down fast.

    BW < - > Sorc

    Magus < - > Engineer

    In Pure DPS, both BW and Sorc will out do them.  In contrast, BW and Sorc drop faster, and have less utility than an engineer or Magus does.  From my experience with them, Sorc SEEMS to drop single targets faster than a BW when comparing point for point dmg scale, but I enjoy the BW a bit more (Tho the Sorc is easier on the eyes.  Male and female Bright wizard models are uhm, less than pleasing to the eyes.  Look on the verge of undead!)

    Don't let anyone try and fool you, Magus+Engineer are absolutly terrible atm.  There archtype of "RDPS Support" fails hardcore.  But......  There are changes in the pipeline.

    Sunder basically has it.

    Bright Wizard = Sorceress

    Engineer        =  Magus

    The classes are basically mirror images of eachother.

    BW and Sorc both build up magic points that cause higher chance of critical and have a chance to damage the caster. Engineer and Magus both spawn stationary pets (essentially turrets) and then have long range attacks.

    For a mage you wanna play a Sorceress

    From my play experience with the engineer versus the magus, the engineer plays much better, with his ranged weapon dealing far more consistent damage versus the magus' spells. The pets the magus summons are also, for some unknown reason, quite unreliable in damage output and target selection whereas the engineers turrets seem to fair far better in this target selection automation. Also, the magus pets summon in defensive mode, which is a big hassle in that you have to manually click agressive to get them to do their own targeting/attacking.

    Overall, both classes lack oomph right now. They are playable, they are fun, but they lack the polish other classes have on them. In response to their survivability, yes, they are extremely easy prey for just about any other dps class. I routinely kill engineers with ease as my chosen.
