Sorry for the spam, but I'm just so happy that they're bringing PVP back. Not because I like PKing other players, just that now everyone on these forums will SHUT UP about it!!! I'm probably happier than everyone else here! This is the best news I've ever heard!!!

I lost all my dignity a long time ago.

If they pull this off successfully, which I know that is something kinda hard for Jagex to do because of their history with updates, I  think it is great for the game. Though since I can already play full pvp games that are better mechanically, graphically  with a better community and overall more fun this alone would not bring me back to this game.  When they make the game where you can help your friends again, give them supplies, give them christmas presents,  and actually take measures that improve the overall community I will consider it. I am not holding my breath though and do not see any pigs flying  around yet. The only problem with this update is that it has taken them many years of original players pleading with them to bring it back. That was how the game originally started, it used to be open pvp, then they killed that for many  years before they realized what a terrible mistake it was to remove it in the first place. It takes Jagex forever it seems to realize the mistakes they have made, so it will be many years comming.. if ever before they fix their game to be really playable again.

So many of the players that were treated poorly by their customer service throughout the years have left this game disappointed. It should not have to take the extreme efforts that players put out to get this reinstated to get any progress from Jagex.  A good company thinks of it's players before making such decsions, but that is not something this company has done in the psat, so I do not set my expectations too high for the future.

Well all I know is that Jagex will find a way to mess up this update too. Just like all the other updates they promised. Come on people you really think this is going to make up for the years of neglecting their players and they're horrible decisions. All i can say is that i know that this update will not replace the old pvp and that is all i need to know.

So, this update will not be enough to get me to start my membership up again or even really start playing anymore.

Wooah...I come on and there are 3 threads saying PVP IS BACK. Time to read the article..

This update will give me a break from all ex RuneScape fans saying that the game sucks now without PVP and no wilderness....well guess what? Jagex is making special worlds so you can fight players in 99% of RuneScape ;) Sheesh, I feel better now that I said what had to be said =P

This about sums up my feelings on the topic as well. I haven't touched this game in over a year now, I think, and I've lost all hope of it restoring itself to any kind of playable state. Jagex has shot itself in the foot WAY too many times and this is just their way of telling you how awesome it's going to be when they're done reloading.

I'm shocked, I really am.  I expected more BS from Jagex, and I am very pleased.

If they pull this update off, I will consider coming back...I'll at least play free to play.

Mabye Jagex read these forums and decided to turn a new leaf and listened to their community

If Jagex can pull off this, ill go back and see if its good. Its kind of sad to see RuneScape in the state it is, I liked it more back in '02. I personally think they should have, instead of deleting wildy in the first place, just used the random item generator. It would have saved them a lot of hassle. Everywhere is Wilderness though, that will be fun, but the wilderness will be undeniably empty due to the spread outness, except in the first little while, it will be loaded.

I am hyped about this update as much as some of you are...but there is one thing. "To prevent real world trading, you wont get the opponents drop'd items like before, instead you will get a "random" PvP gear that is equal to the worth of the items that the player had in their inventory. Plus, those PvP items only last for X ammount of days.

They only last a certain amount of days? That ruins the whole point!

Exactly, which even proves that Jagex can't make an update without having MAJOR flaws.

The only good thing about PvP in this game was partial item looting, if that will still be gone there's no point. Meaningless PvP.

So now instead of people voluntarily dying to trade items without trading, they'll voluntarily die to give each other free equipment. All this update will accomplish is create a new kind of farming, and give people a reason to kill-trade.

Lol if only i was the "Updater Guy" Of Runescape.

But this is, in my opinion, a loophole that can never be filled up entirely.

Well whats to stop goldfarmers from letting themselves from geting killed over and over again to generate infinite wealth.

This would further destroy the economy. It would increase inflation and create a system where anyone could have godswords and other expensive items

    Proof? Sources?

EDIT: Oh do you mean just the new items coming out specifically for PvP? But normal items are everlasting, right?

Otherwise I might as well requit.

Read the article on thier website regarding pvp. I think it mentions whether or not the pvp items are temporary.

    http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1370

It would be intersesting to see what the update entails. I am planning on checking it out. I always feel like I should keep an open mind about everything although I'm not giving my hopes up on this.

well just don't give your hopes up. remember this update is not going to bring back the old style of pvp, so nobody really knows what to expect here. im just saying that it may not be worth the training. but thats my opinion. still it doesnt hurt to try it out.

im not going to go out of my way to train for mediocre rewards. after all, the rewards are going to be equivalent to monster drops of the same level according to jagex. not to mention that the pvp items are going to be temporary.

  • plqxplqx Member Posts: 15

Short term does not necessarily mean that it is temporary...

I read it to mean like barrows/crystal equipment - degrading over time, and you have to pay in some way or other for it to be repaired.

Still, I advise you not to get your hopes up overly high - it is better to expect a mediocre update and be pleased with a good one than to expect a fantastic one and come out disappointed.

To avoid any RWT issues the reward for a successful PK will be generated by the game, similar to when you kill a monster at the moment. We're creating generous drop tables based on factors like your levels and the impressiveness of the kill.

JAGEX SCREWS UP ROYALLY ONCE MORE!!!

That isn't PvP, that is just killing another monster. Big whoop. In fact, it's safer than fighting monsters, because you don't lose shit if you die... Theres gonna be ALOT of level 10's running out of lumby just to get smashed again. and again. and again. and again. whoo, how fun. The higher levels probably won't fight eachother at all, knowing that it'll be a huge waste of resources for very little actual money. Being a level 126 who has quit myself, I know I wouldn't fight anyone unless they attacked me first.
