Don't come on here about tactics and what not. I have 78mil RP's in DAoC across 3 accounts.
I've got more strat and friends than you can shake a stick at.
Why not just log into Counterstrike instead is all Im saying? Its FREE! THis game is dumbed down from even DAoC.
WAR RVR is not gonna be repeative and borring after awhile? If you think not, I can point you to many other sources with probaly more MMO experience than you that would disagree.
Someone who plays 1 hr a day can achieve the same as someone who plays 20 hrs a day. I believe you should get out of MMO's what you put into them.
I can play Counterstrike and get the same PVP fix.
Watered down (easymode) RVR is not my idea of a good pvp end game in a MMO. WoW was absurd ,I can understand that but, WAR is absurd in that some nobody joe that plays a few times a week for an hr is the same as you in just a few more days if that.
At least in DAoC you had to earn RR. WAR is fair to everyone and thus it dumbs down RVR ,imo.
Everyone is the same! Its gonna boil down to what class is FOTM and youll have full Battlegrps of them. They built it this way cause they think its easier to balance out PVP ,what they have done instead is dumb the endgame down.
I don't quite understand how you percieve WAR's rvr to be easymode? Are you even in the beta? I am, and I played DAoC for years, and both games play virtually the same, with the only difference being WAR is better. DAoC suffered from class imbalance, population imbalance and rvr environments which were too large/spread out/inaccessible whereas WAR suffers from none of those not to mention the all too often glitching/lag spikes when two large zergs collided. Yes, warhammer is a game which essentially culls the population into the inevitable RVR-centric Tier 4, and the end game is a tad bit small, but its easy to find a fight and have fun. I would much rather have that kind of experience than to roam around searching endlessly for a fight only to run into a zerg with only your small strike party to back you up.
So in conclusion, if by easymode you mean easier to get into a battle and have fun. Yes, warhammer definitely is easymode.

There are many, many things that are different between DAoC and WAR. It feels like they took the concept of RvR from DAoC and replaced WoW's PvP system, gave it the darker, more rich Warhammer artwork and threw in some fluff to replace mundane items (for example, crafting items with a nice new interface that replaces the silly timer bar from DAoC).
I think what the OP was getting at was that there is a HUGE difference in the RvR rewards when comparing DAoC to WAR. Not only the RAs, but also in DAoC you get +1 for each realm rank you earn to each of your base skills.
So, that allows an RvR vet to spellcraft a suit with arties and such to include capped skills in almost every area. Where as a newer player... well ... just becomes fodder.
What's funny is this is the same type of post that a level 60/70/80 WoW player makes complaining about the fact that they cannot kill low level players in the starting zone on a PvP server.

You can play WAR for one hour and MAKE a meaning full contribution to the game but if you play for 20 hours a day doing even JUST 1 of the following such as PQ, scenario, some type of crafting quest just doing something besides being afk and just chatting you will contribute 20x more than the person that just put in 1 hours in fact it does not even ahve to be one hour.
example:someone can log on do a scenario (15 mins) before the go work, they get thier game fix, got rvr exp some base exp and contributed to thier realm.

Erm given the highlighted part, are you being sarcastic or do you really think MMORPGs should be inherently unfair?
I get what the OP is saying, BUT... I can't see where the problem is with it.
So, if I am a skilled player, who has a job, a family and a whole plethora of other life commitments, which in turn only allow me to play for a few hours a day, I will still, using my skill, be on a level footing with the unemployed guy who spends all day and night logged in and playing, right?
Surely thats how a balanced game should be, and where MMO's have all failed so far, especially in a PVP enviroment. Why should you, a skilled player with less time to play, have to log in and assume you will be beaten hands down by a less skilled player just becuase he or she happens to have 40 friends who all spent the last 3 days sat in a raid dungeon and happened to loot the "Big Old Uber Sword of Player Hacking"?
In a GOOD MMO, the skill of the player would determine the outcome of a fight, not the dedication or real life circumstances of the players.

i think the OP was misinformed, sure the person with no life will most likly be one of those people ending up with all the super cool unlocks and a statue of his charecter in the capitol city for being great and contributing some much in RvR but the guy who only have 1 hour to play will have a feel of accomplishment and actual will be accomplishing and contributing something in that 1 hour.

Which sounds great, and to be honest, sounds like both parties get what they are looking for.

Right. You should get what you put into them. What I put in is what time I have, and in the beta, it's been enough to move along. I can feel like I got a good PvP fix -or- I can get a good deal more progress in a PQ whose loot I want.
RvR is not easymode. Neither Destruction nor Order wins particularly often in my experience. The folks with the great groups and the fighters who work together win. All the all-engineer parties I've been in got stomped; all the well-balanced, smart-playing parties I've been in beat ass. If you do well and you work with your team, you win. If the other guys work together better, you don't.
At least in DAoC you had to earn RR. WAR is fair to everyone and thus it dumbs down RVR ,imo.
I'm assuming this is supposed to say RvR, not RR. In that case, your argument is blatantly ludicrous. RvR was, since the beginning, intended to be a way that a character can actually progress through the game. I have an alt who's done nothing but. It's big fun, and the Renown training, armor and weapons are really damn solid. Because something is eminently available doesn't mean it's dumbed down, as you seem to think; I've had to fight quite hard in some RvR battles, and I've enjoyed every one except the few I've had filled with folks complaining about how RvR is unbalanced. I even like to LOSE, and I'm an awful sport, so that says something. You still get XP and Renown even when you're not beating ass... but beating ass does lead to greater reward.
Everyone is the same! Its gonna boil down to what class is FOTM and youll have full Battlegrps of them.
Again, have you played this game? Everyone isn't remotely the same. Also, Flavor of the Month is the kind of thing that happens in games like this; I've been cataloguing my roomie's server on WoW, and every time a new FOTM crops up, in he hops to make a countercomp. Thorramir (Thorrior) and Aimlessgun play with this guy pretty often; I don't know if you know those names or not, but these guys are pretty big in WoW PvP, and they seem to like breaking FOTM-abusers. And they're -good- at it.
They built it this way cause they think its easier to balance out PVP ,what they have done instead is dumb the endgame down.
Have you been to the endgame?
I'm gonna say you probably haven't, and I doubt I'll be wrong. Keep banging your drums. I'm having fun with WAR, finding very little fault, and in general having an almost unexpectedly pleasant experience. I was hoping it would be good, and figuring it'd probably fall short, but this has been the smoothest beta (two days, one crash, no lag) and the most interesting new concepts for outdoor raids and such that I've seen yet. I don't know if this'll kill WoW; I don't think anything will, as my previous posts will attest, but I do think it's going to get a following and -keep- it. Go ahead and play Counter-Strike and DAoC. I like my servers to be as free of cognitively challenged players as possible.

quit bringing raids into this. I could give a crap less about them. I played WoW for 2 months , I don't think I qualify as a fanboi.
I just find it hard to believe that gear won't matter. It mattered in DAoC ,why not WAR?

gear in DaoC didn't play as big of a factor as it does in games such as WoW. Gear will always matter and give a decent advantage over another player, but button mashing because of your awesome gear won't guarantee your win.
Just I dunno why do u think that RVR will be a easy mode but then again if u think that grinding 2 weeks for one piece of epix is fun plz go continue play WOW or EQ .I think that is ok to giwe a casual players a chance to do something with 2 hrs they hawe and to get a fealing that they hawe done something in the game ( u know not all players got 12 hrs a day to play one instance and get some epix ....jobs,kids etc.)itz just that this will be a nice game dont think that only fun in game is w8n to get party 1/2 hr than play instance 2 hrs or get party disband and look for new member another 1/2 hr and after 5hrs u are still in in instance for that epix cause no one will let u in some high edgedparty if u dont got a hammer +1000 healing pffft.

Ignore the OP. Either this is a troll, or just someone not worth listening to. Min/maxing little twit. Boohoo, can't wave around my epeen because I play 24/7. You wouldn't contribute anything to the game anyway. It's a team based game, and you're clearly only concerned with yourself.
Counterstrike is teambased game albeit a FPS but, its free..
The easymode selfsuficient classes they made for WAR seems to be pretty selfish to and not teambased.
They had to dumbdown class/combat mechanics for the noobs. The same noobs who would be standing out front of Drum Ligen and Frontiers DL or SF begging for a grp and not getting one.
I'm in a 200 man Guild for WAR, Im just wondering how long its gonna be before it gets borring.
Hah - the more people like you say things like this the more I like the sound of this game.
Someone who plays 1 hr a day can achieve the same as someone who plays 20 hrs a day.
Try not to exaggerate so much then people might listen to you.
However I understand the concerns you so inelegantly expressed, I just don't happen to agree. I am a hardcore player, I will be putting a lot of time into this game (probably too much..). The problem is that most of my friends will not or cannot do the same. Yet I still want to play with them. Making the game accessable for them I fully agree with.
Besides a casual player will not be able to do all the things a hardcore person can do to improve their character, it just isn't possible. The difference with War is that that hardcore player's toon will not outrageously outclass the casuals. The difference will be noticable but not game breaking. That is fine with me also. In fact I applaud this decision by Mythic.
WoW has already shown what happens when you create a elitist class system that belittles casual players. It isn't pretty and I want nothing to do with it.
Well seeing as you get 5 more mastery points and we able to pick more stats and resists, plus special armor dyes along with trophys for your armor. And various other rewards for getting up there, I think it will be well worth it, it dosen't need to be a stat increase, the top players will get statues with thier names on it in the city, and i'm sure there will be alot more bonuses to be had.
Ah hah! I forgot about that. In addition, there is a low level quest that has new players polish the plaques of the statues of the top players as well. Now, if that doesn't rub the OP's ePeen the right way, I'm not sure anything will.
wow - this is great. ie rewards for no lifers, which dont skew gameplay. seems Mythic have hit the nail on the head.

SO there no reknown rank in WAR ????
Does reknown go down or only up? This might be a crucial point for a lot of people, otherwise there is no competition.
It's funny to me that the OP was out to slam WAR's RvR and just WAR in general but because of his ridiculous outlook on gaming it has turned into a very positive post about WAR that is showing more and more people why WAR is such a great game. GG OP.

Just goes to show that negative posts can't ruin a genuinely good game. They can only accelerate the death of bad ones.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
My honest opinon is that although this game is probably well made and polished it won't have very much lasting appeal.
The pvp sounds like a school sports day where they everyone gets a gold medal regardless of what position they finish.
Granted you have cities to siege, but as far I'm aware they reset on their own without the original owners having to fight to get them back.
There is no way to differentiate yourself from anyone else as renown only goes up, so no matter how bad you are at pvp you will eventually get to level 80 and be the same as someone who is truly talented.
With no competition where does the replayability come from?
What does this game have to keep people playing for more than a couple of months?

truly talented yada yada yada
this all sounds great to me right now...
the more arguments old style MMO players marshal against this game the more attractive it seems to a time limited father of two working stiff like me

You use the word noobs? Hahahahaha!

There is no war in World of BoreCraft
Up, its like another level system.

There is no war in World of BoreCraft
