Ive seen alot of great great stuff in this game I dont really care aout the lvls and everthing I just care about the fun not about winning the game and stuff. I love it beacuse its alot about adventuring to me and I hope to other players I know you need to be a high lvl to do alot of stuff in the game but I dont care what any of you say that"it suks its REALLY HARD TO LVL" and also I saw this raceist guy how said about the game"I hate it beacuse it has Gay japn anime its only great for japenese" I forgot his username but if you ever see this this is a messege to you that you shouldt judge about other races becuase of the game. the inventors want money yeah but aome also want them to have really fun. so you be prejudice yourslef if you want
I have been adventuring thro FFXI I love all the landsacpeing and all of friends I made along the way it be really awsome if I have joined a linkshell that we travel like a real anime show I love it when the final fanstasy makers make it like that
I like it because of all the adventuring,fighting,RPG,skills you can have,making friends and especialy the mithra cat girls 
so if you like all that and you think its for you get it for all the adventuring and friends and travling place to place or far place anywhere everwhere!

Yes so have i I LOVE THIS GAME!!! the reason why is because like its an FFonline game im a bigg fan!! another reason is the battle system its like the console ones but more complex and funer!! also i love how the graphics look ( im using an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO XT) and they look AMAZING! i love this game so much but havent had the chance to play it alott though cause of school and skateboarding but other than that i really really enjoy this game very MUCH!! HATE ALL YOU WANT HATERS!!!

First up i can say there is a lot of great things in the game.There is also a few things done totally wrong .I kinda wish they spent the money on rights to use a better gaming engine,but it's alright and makes do.
What kinda doesnt go well however is that,although it's only my opinion,i dont believe you should be playing the game to meet friends or to gawk at the mythra class.It's quite alright to make friends in the game but real friends are for real life,you need to get outa the house more if you look for them online.I wouldn't get excited about the mythra either,as its like watching a horrible movie cus there is a hot chick in it.and alot of the mythra players are actually guys.
The adventuring is kinda cool ,but as you play through several months,it will become a little boring ,kinda like driving through a new state/province /country,exciting the first few times then after,it becomes a sleeper.You will really get annoyed ,when you have to do the level caps at 50/55/60.It really is a cheap way the game designers use to slow down the high level players from maxing out.I would think others and myself included have better things to do than waste a week of our time trying to get the drops needed for the level caps,then do it all over again a few days later.It can take even longer because you will have to get the drops for your whole group before your party can move on.
Anyhow,i did and still like the game quite a bit ,but it really could use help in a lot of areas.I have been accused of looking into games too deeply and trying to get to much outa them,but i can't help it,i cant see myself walking through a game like an airhead,or accepting lame game ideas thrown in to slow players down or to accept a half hearted effort by a gaming company.

5.) As stated, Mithra Cat girls are hot, but it was depressing to learn that Guys play this Race
6.) Too Many menus and keystokes, when you can use the mouse and I don't know about Ps2 setup
7.) Money.. MOney.. not all monster drop gills (when you are level1) I think when you create a character, you should start off with money and accumulate as much to buy better weapons and armor..
8.) Combat is slow.. exspecially if you are first level (warrior) they need to tweak it alittle, I got my but kicked by those wild rabbits..

i guess i'm one of the mutants that actually sorta likes the game. my problems with it? the community. i don't care who your favorite dragon ball z character is and i really don't care what someone's mom did to you lastnight. i also don't care that you "soloed the battle ram at level 12". if you don't know how to provoke, you're useless to me.
sometimes i think server distribution should be based on a general third grade quiz.
The physics to this game suck, you can be 10 feet from a yagudo and it still hits you. What a sucky physics system. If your a tarutaru, you cant go underneath things ABOVE YOUR HEAD, like to escape danger, and the costumization sucks. Not to mention leveling is pointless since every day is the same in FFXI. No competition between the players, its like playing a single player game with a chat room.
Also, I hope im not the only one on this forum who isnt turned on by a 3d animated cat race.

I don't like this game very mutch. Not alot of mature people and hard to find a party. Also the language barrier with JP.

Here's my pros and cons
PROs:
1. Great Quest system
2. No buggy game mechanics
3. Graphics
CONs:
1. Heavily camped HOT SPOT Zones (Jeunger Jungle, The Dunes, etc)
2. Forced Grouping
3. Poor combat mechanics (meaning you can never solo after lvl 15...i dont think its right that a lvl 24 rabbit can kill a lvl 38 warrior).
4. Poor Guild/community Setup
5. Poor Server selection options
6. Characters and account gets deleted after 90 days, thus requiring you to buy a new game entirely versus reactivating an old account if you wanted to play it again.

I agree with alot of stuff going on.. but it is a really good game.. just needs to be tweaked.. !!!
Combat needs to more effective.. I couldn't believe it, I started as level 1 warrior, I got my but kicked by wild rabbits, orcs, that goblin thug, who can shoot a spell a mile away.. while trying to avoid it...
The only thing I like about is the Graphics, and mechanics and racial graphics..I like the idea of having guns in this game.. when you can become a ranger.. No other fantasy MMORPG, has this.. Not unless you can play AD&D updated version, depends on DM's discreation..
The community is great.. I did get help, when I got stuck..

I agree with you, I always find the community great (except when you try to talk to japanese people).
But there are 1 500 000 Characters in FFXi, and in like all MMORPGs some of them are disturbing
I don't know how it was on your server but the community in Ramuh is great I think.
heh, I love this game to death, It made me no longer look forward to EQ2, which is hard since I had fallen in love with that game while it was in development. However, now that I have been playing FFXI for awhile now, EQ2 looks like uninspired sensationalism (like FOX) whereas FFXI seems like a game made to be a game, not a life, and a fun one at that, its not realistic in the least, it doesnt try to be realistic, it tries to be fun and it succeeds.
UPs
-Forced grouping: It IS a final fantasy afterall, how many FF games have you been able to play as a solo character through most of the game? But this also helps ppl, most think you cant take anything tangible and fullfilling from these games but you can, I have seen my quiet reserved friends open up in a pt online, and after awhile they started opening up more in rl because they figured out that not everyone is a cold as they thought.
-Visuals: This game has simply amazing visuals. They have a dated gfx engine, but do stuff with it that is more awe-inspiring, and beautiful than most games using a up-to-date engine can do.
-The Community: The community is diverse and open. There are all matter of players there, older ppl that have successful jobs and families, star athletes from high school basketball teams, and everything in between. There is enough diversity to give you a feeling of a complete community, with conflicts, friendships, there are loads of levels to the community in here.
-Missions and Quests: Heh its hard to make you feel like you are on your own adventure in mmorpg's nowadays, but with the missions and quests you get to follow this epic story as your character, even if 1/3 of all ppl in the game have the same missions, the ppl you bring along make all the difference, and you get your own adventure.
-Music: Heh its FF, of course it has great music.
-Combat: It is farely simple early on in this game, but as you progress, combat gets more and more complex. at lvl 45, you can write a 20 page paper and still not account for all aspects of combat.
-Exploration: The areas in this game are so detailed and well made, exploring feels like exploration. Wether you are a ultra-powerful person going through an area beneath you to see it, or if your a low level thief sneaking around as you explore the area.
-Non-player characters: Heh, Square has always had a knack for making NPC's have alot of personality, and this world is no exception.
-Multiple-jobs: Being able to start new jobs is a great ability, so you can play something when a friend joins.
Downs:
-Manthras: There are too many guys that play Mithra >< but there would be alot more if they could be guys, then they would be a d00d/powergamer's wet dream.

Erm, where have you been? This is game is a RPG. If you could have escape bonuses by chosing a specific race, everyone would play it. It's to be fair with everyone. And the ten feet thing, again, it's and RPG, not a FPS. It works with range, saving throws and such systems.

I havn't played in a while 'cause I'm playing single player games now. For me FFXI is a never ending game that I can play whenever there is no other game to play.
Yea it is. But in the same time MMORPG are, or have to be harder than normal games so it takes a while before you get tired of it. That's why I don't play WoW. It's an MMORPG for peoplr to learn about MMORPG. It's easy and nothing new but they have everything you need.
I have a lot of sparetime but when I don't I have to quit FFXI as well, and by then I won't have time to play any MMORPG
LoL a player who accepts and pays willingly for mediocrity. Doesnt matter if its an RPG, it looks retarded that way. Lots of games are making their combat much more visually appealing as well as mechanically compelling. (Matrix Online, can bash it for whatever you want but its a RPG and the combat isnt stupid)
Hey this is my first post so bear with me.
I have been playing FFXI for a few months, there are alot of pros to it but i am gradually feeling like it is becomeing a job.. One of the biggest problmes is that when you start a party the lvls have to be very close this makes it very difficult to party with friends and LS. I am not saying that it should be opean but expand the spread alittle. The games should be inclusive rather then exclusive.
FFXI is a game where you make friend get a ls and you all do stuff chat and have fun you lvl today you lvl today if you want to farm you farm you can go nayway nd anything you want anytime you want it every free and it AWESOME i love been playing for 2 year i'm i'm not stoping^^
