Computer Upgrade suggestions...

I currently have a SiS integrated sound card, which on 3dmark03 wasn't supported by any of the sound tests... if i bought a new one would there be any performance boost?  Also i currently have a g4 ti 4400, as for the amount im willing to spend on a video card atm ide say around $200.00 sounds good plus or minus.  I searched the net for good video card around that price and i noticed the PNY GeForce FX 5900 i was wondering if this is a good choice for my price range or maybe i should pick a different brand or model?

Thanks

Going from any on-board sound, video, NIC to an actual PCI card will give you a small boost in overall system performance.

I have 3 NICs total on my PC, but I use a PCI one instead.  Why?  I don't want the motherboard to do anything it doesn't have to... I want it to just do what it needs...

As for your 5900, I bought an eVGA 5900 and flashed the BIOS to a 5950 Ultra, then overclocked it to 500/1000 for speeds and I couldn't be happier.  I know PNY is a good brand, but I'm not sure how well of an overclock you can get from that brand.

you can upgrade the soundcard cheap now the creative sound blaster  audigy 2 zs 7.1 thx model was £44.50 excluding VAT. you should hear a difference with the sound because of the EAX, plus you can always get the drivers easy for this type of card.

The TI4400 was a good card,  not sure if the card had the nvidia ultrashadow or not. but this makes a difference with the games. DAOC was very different when i upgraded from ATI 9000 to  ATI 9800 pro because of the shadower.

another thing to check is the acutal board will support 8X AGP for the extra performance boost.

well my board supprts 4x, but its older and wasn't around when 8x became popular, but the fx 5900 should work unless its 8x only... because i do know  G ti 4400 supports 8x

Um, it will "work" but it won't be as good as an AGP x8... and you'll notice the difference.

well yeah of course, but is upgrading going to have a good overall performance boost compared to my 4400?

huh?  You want to keep your 4400 and upgrade?  If that's the case, then your videocard might be a bottle neck and keep your PC from running how it should.

i would get a 5900 or 5950 like you said, they are around the 200 mark. and a sound blaster card, they are like 35 bucks. or you could just splurge and grab the 6800. image
