just got together and made one massive free to play game???
Seriously why all the clones of games when you could just have a whole army of developers work on one game and make it really good?
The damn games are free to play anyways!

Because too many chefs spoil the soup.

Are you saying mixing soups made of diarrhea, pus, and potato chips is?

If they did that then it woudlnt be f2p mmo it would be a AAA p2p mmo. (and thus another clone)
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
You seem to believe that twice as many developers will make a game that's twice as good.
It doesn't work that way.

Dunno. It would just be interesting if a couple of them merged with each other.

It kinda does, quality in games = time and money. Having more workers saves time ,but costs money.
It might not be a better game, but the quality should be better.

Ah, nothing like uncovering somebody else who figures that if they hire nine women, they can get a baby in one month.
In some things, it works that way. In software programming and design, it doesn't.

The free soup tastes like water and vomit. I'm going to go buy a steak.

Playing: Nothing
Played: Champions Online, CoX, STO, PSO, WoW, lots of free-to-play crap
Looking Forward To: DC Universe Online, Blade and Soul
No they are not. Only the gullible buy into that marketing initially and only the ones in denial keep claiming they are free. You really think there are so many of these types of revenue games if they weren't making money off players?
Why would anyone care? I've never seen a F2P item shop game that was decent. Make one, or make a million, I'm not playing them either way.
All the people in the world couldn't make a great game if everyone involved doesn't have much talent. There's a reason F2P games are F2P. Its because they suck;) Giving a camera to a bunch of monkeys wouldn't give them the ability to make a good movie. It would just be alot of crap on the screen.
But if you gave enough monkeys enough cameras, one of them will eventually shoot a great movie.
I think you're on to something there.

Well in your silly anology it would be faster if they were going to have nine babies.....
Blizzard has about 200 people credited on working on world of warcraft, 20 programmers.
Funcum has about 200 people credited on working on AoC, 29 programmers.
Im sure most f2p games have no where near that amount. (i couldnt find one listed)
So yes having more workers would allow them to add more features, get rid of bugs, add more models/textures, or fine tune/balance current gameplay.
Alot of the f2p games look the same because they buy the same engine as everyone else, because they dont have the time/money to create there own.
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
The number of people working on the game only defines the quality and amount of bugs. The gameplay is dictated by the guys in suits with the money. The devs are just the ones to organize the production of said game and only have enough influence to change minor issues.
So if you were to put all F2P devs into one pot, you would get a bugfree F2P game, with a huge amount of items in the mall, lots of areas/monsters and a lot more of the "kill 10 flies" quests than usual. It wouldn't change anything about gameplay, the item mall idea or even the graphics (they are bad in F2P games, so that everyone can play it).
