Tauren - Do they miss out without having a mount?

They get Plains Running and not a mount due to their back-ground and beliefs, but what Im not familiar with what their missing out on game-play-wise by not being able to have a mount.
Do other races that do have mounts have some inherent travelling benefits over the Tauren such as a more prolonged running speed or something else. . .and what about the Taurens Plains running versus mounts?

With plains running, the Tauren do not need 200 gold to buy a mount, nor do they need reputation with the local stable to be able to buy it.
However, it reportedly has limits. I am not sure how LONG they can run, nor if it stops at water (ala burst run in SWG), or how soon it stops after being hit. But I think all are factored in.
However, even with limits, its a LOT easier for them to move around, although they will never fly supposedly, being WAY to heavy for ANY mount. Just when I wanted to see one come in on a giant vampire bat and get owned by a flock of Enraged Griffons...rofl
I missed the actual (dev event?) scene, but I was told that RIGHT at the end of stress beta that a huge invading horde army was being used as a giant mop (as in moppin gthe floor with your face...) when a flock of enraged griffons swooped in and took them out. Never having seen enraged griffons attack before, some of us figured it had to be an event that the devs allowed at close of stress beta. Regardless, the blow by blow descriptions were swesome!
Conversely, imagine if Alliance invaded horde lands and flocks of Giant Vampire Bats--also known as the eyes of <some undead leader>--attacked the alliance.
Or better yet, JTL in WoW via aeiral combat between Griffons, Hippogryphs, and Giant Vampire Bats...yeah!!!

Yep. I was ready not to be too excited about it when I jumped into the stress test. Came out as close to a fanboy as I've ever been. I wonder how long this feeling will last.

I havent been this interested in a mmorpg in a while. . .I play none at the moment and the furthest thing from a EQ fan. . .I am really anticipating WoW.

I guess the wyverns (windrunners) are strong enuf to carry anything...heh
It would be fun to do warlock just for the summoned mount, though... a horse with flaming hoofs...just like from the movie Krull or whatever. In fact I think warlocks get Fel Steeds and Nightmares, the latter being the more advanced version of summoned steed.
Thx for the link to mounts for tauren...There also is info on ALL of the transport forms, and an explanation that you can only ride mounts or use portals to YOUR FACTIONS (or neutral) territory. I wondered what would stop an aerial invasion...heh
