Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting GameStop.com.
While we do apologize for any inconvenience, we are no longer receiving
the Collector's Edition codes from the manufacturer, thus the store only
has the regular edition codes available to customers. The codes you
received will still provide you access to the open beta in September and
the headstart offer.
Please note that due to the advertised limited quantities of bonus
offers, GameStop cannot guarantee the offer will be available at the
time of purchase or reservation. Generally, bonus items/offers are
limited in supply. These bonus codes were completely free and you have
not paid for the free offer. The reservation amount was towards the
purchase of the game.
Sincerely,
Valerie

I ordered my CE almost 2months ago and i emailed these ass hats 40 times and they finally email a 1 1/2 months later to only tell me they have no codes.

I hear your pain. I ended up calling the local 4 or 5 stores until I found one with a copy and the teenager working the counter was nice enough to put one aside (I promised him I was leaving within minutes and en route to the store even as I was hanging up). I'd never buy something with a deadline from them online and especially not something in limited quantities.
"These bonus codes were completely free and you have not paid for the free offer."
WTF does this sentence mean? lol
How were you supposed to pay for something that's FREE?
gamestop = the devil
I hate the place with a passion.
thats because the fucking idiots at gamestop gave out the CE codes to random ass people who walking in asking for them , while the people who actually paid for them were given the SE codes cuz the CE ones ran out.
It means don't cry to them about paying for guaranteed access or whatever, since they charged you for reserving the game and gave you the bonus codes free. Lame, but probably a result of all the people who cried over Age of Conan head start.
Gamestop is garbage.
I ordered 2 copies on May 1st. Still haven't received the codes. They tell me they don't have them yet, that they are getting more, and now that they ran out again and will get no more. But they are still selling the 49 dollar game with some of the codes.
I am offering to pay 30 dollars more x2 but they don't appear to want my money. It is quite remarkable that this company is still in business with those kind of decisions being made.
Who the F knows whats going on there but I can't deny that I will cancel my orders at least convenience to Gamestop, buy my 30-50 games a year from somewhere else, and make sure that everyone I know, and those who visit my website hear all about why buying from Gamestop is a bad idea. I'll even make it my sig everywhere just to get the word out.
yeah f gamestop. i hate their buisness ethics, or lack thereof...
but what exactly do you not get a code for now? u get the sept 7th beta and the head start right? whats missing? just the preview for this weekend?
BTW, great album avatar. one of the best modern rock bands that still has a classic feel. i love binaural.
Gamestop pulled a similar stunt on me when I pre-ordered Shadowbane way back in the day. I was supposed to get access to the beta test and head start deal by pre-ordering through them, but they NEVER contacted me to tell me how to get into the beta.
I called em' and emailed em' for two weeks, knowing time was running out and the game was almost released. They pretty much didn't help at all. I finally tried to get a refund but they wouldn't even let me do that because they said the beta deal was non-refundable! Of course I would remind them I never got to play the beta because of their mistake but they would just say "too bad, nothing we can do!"
Since then I've never bought or pre-ordered anything from Gamestop again. Which is a real pain in the ass because they seem to have a monopoly on these "get into beta with a pre-order" deals. I highly suggest you steer clear of these deals, they are often a scam (I've never talked to anyone who got one of these deals and wasn't jerked around somehow...)
The History of the Order of The Golden Shields
Gamestops/EB Games glorisize console crap, which the majority of the population playing consoles, and Gamestop the first and premier cross-contentent game store, they dont' care about PC gamers. As long as the next Failstation 3 is on shelves, the money will keep on rolling.
I've never had any problems with our local Gamestop that used to be an EB (but they know my group pretty well, so maybe that's why).
But I just pre-ordered online for in-store pick-up in hopes of getting the items keys and, mainly, into open beta to test it out before I can get it. I totally didn't realize WAR was coming so soon, as I've been waiting for it so long, so it's late, but I hope. Hope. Knowing that this shit happens is despairing =(
Playing: Single-player games
Awaiting: Stargate, Star Trek, assuming the burnout has passed
Retired: WoW, BC, LotRO, DDO, CoH/V, EVE, WotLK, WAR
They're asshats because some childish kid thinks just because he ordered two months ago he had secured a place? I got news for you kid. There are a lot of people like you who wanted to play the preview. You're not the only person in the world wanting to play this preview. Maybe just maybe all those other people simply took all the 50K pre order preview spots before you ordered yours as they sold out pretty fast? Did that ever cross your little mind before you threw your rattle out the pram?Suck it up kid! life is full of disappointments so get used to it!
They're asshats because people walking into the store to pick up codes for the SE they pre-ordered were given Collector's Edition codes. Now some people who ordered CE codes can't get them, because the limited number of CE codes available were given away to the wrong people. Gamestop screws up like this all the time.

Yeah, that IamMMO "kid" needs to learn how to read a little.
It's not really about playing this weekend. It's about people who were given our codes when they pre ordered the game 3 months later, and paid 30 bucks less in the process.
Gamestop is garbage.
That sucks, if you get the CE you should get all the stuff that comes with it, including that code not the code of the standard edition. I don't own the game yet but im gonna get it frome Direct2drive.com I love that place, its the lazy gamers heaven. You don't need to drive nore talk to anyone just buy the game and download it.
Thats probably what I will do after I use gamestop for open beta. I'll cancel my order from them before the 16th and just dl the game.
F it, gamestop gave away my codes, ill just make them think I'm buying from them until the last minute.
This. You should've gone to the store and got them instead of sitting on your ass constantly e-mailing them.
Not everyone lives near a gamestop. Thats why I ordered mine online over 3 months ago.

When you pre-order from Amazon, the codes are immediately delivered to your Amazon account where they are always accessible. There's really no good excuse for the 'tards at Gamestop making customers wait for email or forcing them to go to stores to pick up pre-order codes reserved for other pre-order customers.
They would deserve it...
But don't count on that plan working. Check out my other post on the first page of this thread. Gamestop screwed me on my pre-order for another MMO and when I wanted to cancel the order they wouldn't let me because of the "special beta deal" which they had screwed me out of.
Thats why I think these "no beta without a pre-order" deals are a scam. They know you want into the beta and they make you pre-order the game for what you think is a secured spot in the beta. In reality they know that:
1. There is a chance you won't even get into the beta at all.
2. There is a chance you won't like the game after playing the beta.
Which are both reasons why they won't let you cancel the order, reguardless of if you actually get to play the game or not. MMO publishers love these deals because its their way of getting your money before you ever play the game or even read a review of it. If you later decide you want your money back, OOPS! Too late, sorry Charlie.
(If you are bound and determined to pre-order an MMO with one of these shifty beta deals, make the order with a credit card. Then if Gamestop or whoever tells you "no refunds" later you can file a complaint with your credit card company saying they didn't deliver what you paid for and the credit card company will TAKE the money back and give it back to you.)
This is why I NEVER Pre-order MMOs anymore. Publishers won't get their hands on a single dollar of mine until I'm 100% convinced that I'm getting what I'm going to be paying for.

I haven't paid for the game yet. The charge doesn't come until they ship the box.
I use my visa for everything so I just cancel the order with Visa. No issue with gamestop at all. They will just send me an email about how my credit card number is somehow not working on the 15th-18th of Sept.
I'll just send them a nice email explaining the fact that they are the ones who chose to screw over an 80-160 dollar purchase in order to hand out cards to everyone who walks past a gamestop store. The 30-50 games I purchase next year for me, my wife, and my kids will be purchased elsewhere as well and I'll also tell everyone why gamestop is somewhere to avoid.
Hardball for sure but it's not like they don't deserve it. They are completely incompetent and are just scamming everyone to get more pre order sales.
Then they say, oh you didn't know that the items weren't guaranteed? When some of us know that they have an access code for every CE box they receive. The non-guarantee is just a ploy to cover up their deceitful sales practices. I'll never buy another game from them or visit their website again.
Gamestop will likely be out of business in 2-3 years if they keep doing this with every new game. I already know a lot of people who refuse to buy from them after Vanguard-AOC-EQ2-WOW, etc because of the same BS and it's only getting worse with companies giving out more pre order stuff that gamestop blows each and every time.
That would be nice. Sadly I don't think Gamestop will be out of business any time soon. Its like this guy said:
Thanks casual gamers...
