It has aboslutely nothing to do with this thread. I was reading it while we were having our little argument and here was a guy who thought that sites like these were rubbish and that a games worth is determined by a body that has nothing to do with games. The thing that interested me was that here we are all arguing with each other about how good our favourite games are and then this guy walks in and says everyone is wrong and BAFTA should be the judge of what good games are and what aren't. That was what tickled me so much.

The funny thing is that this very award company named DDO the Multiplayer game of the year award for 2006. I think that even the majority of the DDO fanboi even laughed at that.
The thread topic was entitled something like, Reviews on sites like these are a waste. Sure we guys may argue back and forth but I would take more stock in even the worst reviews on here than some silly award like an Oscar. The thing this guy doesn't understand is for all our arguing we guys still understand sarcasm which obviously the OP of that thread didn't.

I was watching poor you trying hard to use logic in the face of unbelievable stupidity and I really did want to jump in there and help you out. bUt I noticed the guy wasn't listening to reason. I argue with a lot of guys here, but I would take their opinion of a game over the BAFTA guys anyday.

back on topic about Archlord, it is a total grindfest. A lot of people dont like it and a lot of people do. Its not a bad game at all. I quite liked it but dont have the time to play a game like that.
I name people who keep telling EVE is the only decent MMO out there, the ones that advertise EVE in close to every reply fanbois. thats something totally diffrent then saying someone has low standards. As a matter of fact I find the whole thing highly amusing. In fact I did play archlord for about 30 mins and found it dull and lifeless. Thats pretty much the same amount of time you spent in eve and therefore my opinion counts. I say Archlord sucks (based on my 30mins of play ofcourse).

Archlord is has its pros and cons, I've played the game for 5 days I'm lvl 27, at lvl 35 you can ride a mount. I like the concept of one player being the 'archlord', but the goal is too high for most players, I don't know what lvl the archlord is but he's probably lvl 99 and plays nonstop. If there were a more reachable goal lower than the archlord I think more people would like it. The grinding really is *not* as bad as people say, There is a monster for every single level that I've been able to see and if you don't know where to hunt you will grind forever but all you have to do is look and you can relatively reach the next level in slightly more time than it took to reach the previous.
The pros: it's free, episode 3 just was released, they have ripped off the diablo gem and wep/armor socket system, crafting to a certain extent exists, the map is massive, many cities, many dungeons, guilds, guild-sieges, archlord, many quests, fully mmorpg, auctionhouse-easy to sell items in game, large variety of monsters, weapons and armor, party option, mounts and even mounts can have weapons, not an overly eastern-samurai atmosphere, a lot of the world looks european fantasy-ish (this is very rare for a korean game).
The cons: Massive lag, translation errors, graphics aren't amazing and at times remind me of doom, the community or ability to communicate is minimal, if you ask a question in the shout or tell you are lucky to get a response after asking 20 times I assume this may be due to a large ammount of non-english speakers or just rude folk. There is a gift-shop for real $, this alone isn't a problem for me since it is free to play & download, but one problem I have with it is keys, you cannot obtain keys except by paying someone 600k for 1 or buying them with real $, in 5 days I've come across 20 chests from monster drops and I can't open them, this is misleading and they are attempting to force me to buy credits in their giftstop to buy keys but I will not, strangely the keys are worth 10x more than the rarest chest full of random magic items that I will never see. The website FAQ is not detailed-I have had dozens of questions that were never answered, and speaking of websites-there are zero fansites for archlord-this alone is very odd to me, yes there may be 1 or 2 websites -posing- as fansites but they are hollow content fakes, when a game doesn't have 1 single die hard fan dedicated enough to build a somewhat decent website that says a lot for the game.
I don't know how long I will play Archlord, but I hear at level 35 along with the ability to ride mounts you get much more XP from quests, maybe the semi-grind will be worth it I will see, but I will basically compare this game most to Silkroad, that is a decent game but Archlord is at least 10x better, in the fact that the map is bigger, more quests, better system to sell items, dungeons, less-grind, etc etc. If I find at lvl 35 it is impossibly grindy to get to lvl 45 I will have considered the whole of playing a distraction for what I am actually waiting for (Guild-Wars-2). I like GW, and I bought the 1st expansion the second it came out but I never even explored more than 2% of it because it felt exactly like playing the game from the start only asian themed, full MMORPG is what GW has been missing and a fully MMORPG GW will quite possibly be the best MMORPG since UO circa 1997, only free.

umm... note, the thread is from 2006 heh, this was when al cost money to buy and had a monthly fee, personally, I don't think archlord is worth playing beyond level 20, it's just grind, grind, grind, if any lvl 50 players can tell me otherwise ....... *echo* (((grind))), that's what I thought, nobody here plays this game.
