Funcom Moderation Reporting

Greetings,

You can now send all moderation questions and concerns to ModReport. Sending all moderation questions or concerns to this user will help greatly in ensuring your requests receive the attention they need.

Here are some example topics that you can report to ModReport:
  • Moderation Questions
  • Moderation Abuse
  • Moderation Recruitment Questions
  • Moderation Suggestions
  • Social Guideline Questions

Also remember that all volunteer moderation recruitment applications should go directly to King Moderator.

Since when was moderation a problem? I mean I know some of them were getting a little out of control. Some of them are actually decent though. :)

Not a bad forum feature actually,.At least the idea behind it is sound, I'll have to wait and see in order to judge the execution.

Perhaps Famine has finally realized he can't polish turds: http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2239646#2239646

I'm also of the mind that his being here resulted in that "mod report" tool.

Well, yes I agree. Proof in the pudding.

But I reckon it was something that was very much needed in some situations as brought up here on these boards.

definitely a step in the right dirrection at least considering the concept

So I decided to try this out and found out why I was banned for a week on July 7th with a reason of "No reason was specified."

This was Famine's response to my detailed PM:

octa01 doesn't seem to be banned. What do you mean?

I blinked.  He didn't even bother to read what I had wrote and this is his response after 6 weeks of pming him and emailing support(directions I was given by Famine himself on the official forums).

So make no mistake this is just another way for them to make it look like they care when in fact they just want your requests to go into a blackhole and have you give up.

Sorry not buying this, it's another PR gimmick imo. Many of the serious forums players PM'd Famine continually about the obvious  Mod-Squad shenanigans. "I'll look into it" and "I'll review it", were the last were ever heard. We diligently submitted many follow up inquiries to the review out come, and never got a single reply.

My guess is Mod Report will dump to the same recycle folder that is filled with 7 years of  unread feedback@anarchy-online.com messages.

You won't get a reply. Either they'll take action or they won't but they're not going to discuss it with you. That's not how moderation reviews work.

Except in many of the cases he said he would get back to us, at the very least to clarify why the threads were shut down. Many a great thread was closed due to flaming replies, a mods job is supposed to be to clean out that kind of rubbish and keep the thread on track, instead they used it as an excuse to remove threads from the boards that were far from flattering, but perfectly legitimate and within the forum guidelines/rules.

    Yet Famine posted this here:

"If you have any questions or comments on any thread moderation then please feel free to poke me or a moderator. All moderations do deserve justification if you so request it from us. "

    It's a hollow statement.

This "tool" is a pointless waste of time.  The forum software was never broken or deficient in the first place (unlike the game itself).  It's the moderators who are broken and deficient.  Until they are replaced with a group who can conduct themselves professionally and impartially, with the goal of improving community relations, it doesn't matter how much you bling out the forums software.

The point of this new community reporting system is to help better manage reports and questions in relation to the moderators. Octa example is also a prime example of why I decided to announce this system. Having a open community where we do allow users to private message us leaves loads of messages and reports in everyones inbox. So what better way to help manage that by splitting it off to help ensure attention is given to those topics when it's needed?

I believe this will help a lot in the long run. I try my best to answer everyones private message and look into everyones report but at the end of the day it's a lot to sort through to ensure everyone gets equal attention. So hopefully this will help and better managing the reports. This also will help make sure we have a system where the community can feel they do have a channel to communicate moderation concerns.

I have seen the moderation concerns posted here on the forums and I have personally looked into them all. This system is also partly from the feedback posted and received here too.

I'm very skeptic when it comes to these sort of tools.

To me, it just a means to justify the locking and/or deletion of a thread questioning a moderation~ this happened in World of Warcraft forums.

Any threads asking about moderation etc. will end up locked w/ an auto-generated message like:

"Please use the appropriate tool: thread is locked."

This speeds up locking thread messages as well as preventing unnecessary discussions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the staff responsible for receiving moderation message have a username like "/dev/null"

Famine, I don't like your system.  I don't like the rules of your system, and I don't like your moderators.  You guys already have my feedback on the account cancel text.

  • MortisRexMortisRex Member UncommonPosts: 350

Famine, while I've cancelled my AoC account, I respect the job your trying to do and view you as the only positive public face at Funcom.  You've got a tough job ahead of you and to be honest, I'll take diseased hearts over PR any day. Best of luck to you.

At least you're dedicated to the cause Avery, i'll give you that. Funcom should pay you well for your efforts.

5 years of paid subscription to Anarchy Online, I can tell you  FunCom's only interest in it's community has been that we come up with all the technical solves and bug work-arounds for their endlessly sloppy coding and broken game mechanics. (see the AoC tech forums, all player made 'band-aid' solves)

I never rose beyond disappointed about how FC handled AO or AoC. But when they start making claims about their 'track record of the best customer service of any MMO', 'having an Open Community', and being a 'community driven game company', I get furious, it's a slap in the face to anyone who has dealt with them longer than the last 4 months.

Try selling it somewhere else Famine, doesn't look like any one around here is buying it.

Funcom eqauls the new  Barnum (from his early days of hoaxs)

As far as being more than willing to sell whatever crap people will buy ,that is.

This new Mod tool is nothing more than their latest form of the "Feeje Mermaid"

Why do I get the feeling the modreport tool is a lot like this suggestion box?

     I give up God.

Wheres the fire, wheres the honor, wheres the pride, wheres the glory of being helpful these days? Everything Funcom does is to cover up their own identity, pretending that nothing is wrong. Why would Funcom believe their banned "not to resubscribe again" customer, before any of their moderators? Whats the point in trying to get an answer, when you get loaded with bull anyway?

    Save me, good lord.

I'm glad Funcom has realized the seriousness of the view of many people about the official forums and the decisions of the Mods and there behavior. It was one of the main reasons I left AOC ..it really is about how the company treats it's paying customers.I hope they can change the perception that currently exists

Fire most of the Mods would be a solution. Even if that happend, I would still believe that it was just another lie. They could just have changed their nick name for all we know.

Can someone who still has access tell me if Lufkin is still a Mod? I see his name on the list but cant search his name . This will be very telling on whether or not they are taking this serious or if its a stunt.

Nothing personal Famine but there have been far too many words and way too little action from FC. If this is for real it would be a step( a small one but still a step) in repairing peoples impression of FC customer service.

    Fungerer som det skal
