New Player to FFXI

Hey everyone, I'm new to the game, and I'm looking for a linkshell that caters to newer players. I'd like to play as a WHM on a decently populated server.
If anybody can help me out, I sure would appreciate it.

There are lots of Linkshells that are considered social/helpful. At least that's the case on Bismarck. I know Titan, Odin, and Fenrir are usually helpful too as servers. You will probably start the game without a linkshell as most people aren't in the starter cities as much anymore but when you get into parties, ask people about their Linkshells and never feel you have to stay with your first one (You can have more than 1 too which is awesome). But,i will say, if you're going white mage and you know for 100% sure you want to do mage jobs, go with Tarutaru. If you might try melee, i'd go with Mithra or Hume. (I actually did go with Hume)

BAD ADVISE!!!!! Mithras are good for THF, and other jobs that reqiure AGI, if you are going for STR jobs go for Galka or Elvaan, Humes are pretty lame all around unless you are going for CHR jobs like BRD and BST
OK, first, settle down. No, it's not bad advice if he's going to do both melee and mage. Did you read his post? Hes going to be white mage so his best bet is Tarutaru. But i told him if he was going to do both, equally, he's better off with Hume and Mithra. As they cant do one or the other exceptionally but they can do both pretty good. Elvaan and Galka are good for Melee. They aren't as good as a hume or mithra can be unless you go sinking a lot more gil than needed into the +1 and +2 gear. I've played this game for 2 1/2 years. I know what i'm talking about.

Well, i have played the game for awhile as well, and i would have to say that if he was going to be whm and other jobs, i would say Elvaan because actually they have higher MND than tarutarus, so they dont get as much MP but they do heal for a bit more than tarutarus with the same gear.

i was just saying, my personal views are, i hate HUMES with a passion.
How about they pick whatever character they like the best? Picking your race based on jobs is old news. People are past that now. I never even picked my character based on which job they were best at.
On Kujata, it's a pretty decent population and such. New people around all the time. You should be pretty well off party wise with any server you choose to go to as a WHM. If you decide on Kujata, send me a tell and I'll help out.
Pick a character you like to see and that you think looks best. Never pick solely on what jobs it might be good for. You can always work around the handicaps. This is coming from an Elvaan BLM.
To be the best, you must help each other become the best.

Well, I decided to make a WHM tarutaru in Windurst on Midgardsomr, because I knew a fw people on there. I'm always up to party, though. Just /t Seron.
