Same, the Hammerer was the class I was looking forward to the most. My next in line was the KOTBS
With that said after playing beta for awhile, I can now say I was easily impressed with several of the classes, so I have some new favorites now. No hard feelings from me.
If you thought you would like the Hammerer, I would give the Iron Breaker a try and spec him for two-handed. Hard to take down and deals decent damage.
If you want all DPS on the Order side I would without a doubt go for the Bright Wizard. Just no extent to how badly you want one in your group for DPS.
That feeling of superiority you get if you're right!
Personally, I think they'll try reworking the classes at first, but I'd say there's a chance they'll be replaced with different classes. (Except probably the Hammerer...the next best logical choice would be the Slayer but lore-wise and in the game, it wouldn't really work that well). As for when? I don't know, I know Mythic is going to work out the stuff that's in-game now first. So maybe 6 months, probably not before that.
Expansion I am going to say. I just wish they would throw in another Faction from their lore. Bretonnia, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, Beastmen, Vampires, Skaven, Wood Elves and Ogres.. This game has Sooooo much potential and lore to keep going and going and going! Now you put them all together in a mmorpg, your going have MAYHEM!
this is what i see
they do everything in steps
1. 2 cities
2. 2 cities
3. 2 classes (1 order 1 destruction)
4.2 classes
5.add a new concept for the game that is very creative and fun through a patch
6. expansion adding 2 races and 10-20 more levels (similar to WoW's expansion but not the same theme and something that is actually fun)

Let's just hope that Mythic can see what they have at their disposal and decide to use it over the coming years.
With the way they described the reason why they took those classes out, and looking at their unique work ethics, I think it's safe to say I believe they won't be coming back. Atleast not with the same names. I think they're gonna replace it with an improved version of the former classes.

This is possible, having said that all you have to do is look around the world and the 'missing' classes are all over in the form of NPCs. This is one thing that inspires me to beleive they will make a return.

That would blow. I REALLYwanted to play a KOTBS.
Well at least you can see them as NPC's in the game.

There was an interview with Mark Jacobs, I think in Ten Ton Hammers.
http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/38044
Jacobs said there is no promises. They may never bring them to the game or they may.
They may bring other classes.
Sadly, I think it wont for some time. They will focus on fixing bugs and such for some months, ensuring the games run as it should, etc.
Then I think they will add the cities, probably in two steps (2 cities at the time).
Then maybe in several months or a year, we may hear something about some new class. And that classes may not be the Choppa and the others removed.
(Look in the finale part of the interview to see the answer he gave to almost the same question as yours).

They have no excuse not to keep this game fresh.
I swear I remember reading that they weren't going to add more levels....
