Preview Weekend review.

Hi,

This game isn't released up to the point that its the retail client. Certain things like graphics are dumbed down on purpose. So trolls, don't complain about the graphics for now until they release the retail. By then i will guess some will be complaining about about their rig being slow. Here we go:-

Upon going into PW, i was pretty excited about the game. First on my choice to play was the Squig Herder. Tried it out for awhile until i went into chaos. What bothered me a little was the speed of your characters running, they seem a bit slow. Animation  and Effects need some paying attention, they might be reworked on retail i am guessing.

Don't get me wrong, i can say for sure that if you can run WOW on high you can definately run this at the same setting too. Gameplay wise, it is WOW!!! But, it is WOW on steroids. Quest are pretty much like any normal average quest but the Public Quest's are awesome!!!!. Never have i experiance something so simple but innovative. Thats a big plus for me. Bugs are normal for beta client so i will give them the benefit of the doubt, at least its way beeter then AOC when it was released.

Characters and clasess are diverse enough toop give you long hours of just looking and thingking on how to build your character. After that is all said and done RVR is where the game will shine the most. Until they release te next expansion the most likely will included 2 new races and content for us.

The system that was develped for this game is amazing also. Something fresh. ou really can customize your characters build anyway you want. And thats without even touching the Tactics and Renown part. The game shows a very bright start on release, but some might blow throught the game too fast to enjoy it long enough.

I will post more after i get to playing more of this amusing game.

I'd *really* love to hear your rationalization for this. I can run WoW on high with my AMD XP 3700, Geforce 6800GTS and 2 gigs ram and I have seen *no* indication that those settings can run WAR reliable at low levels yet let alone high as you seem to imply. (Which should be totally beyond your knowledge to beginw ith since noone who isn't under NDA has played on High yet)

Yes what you are playing is the retail client.

They don't dumb down graphics. What you see is what you will have on day 1. 5 year old graphics.

Thats funny pheace because this laptop is 2 yrs old with vista, only 2 gigs ram. 1.6 duel core and I cant even remember the graphics card anymore. Its one of the older ATI laptop x-series but I do know its not even half of what the 6800gts is. I run the game just fine on the fastest framerate setting which your claiming you cant.

As far as if you can run WAR on max setting if you can run WoW on max? No thats not even remotly true. Not if you wanna play with anymore than 10-20 people on your screen at the same time. But what pheace is saying simply isnt true either. What I'm playing on is maybe half of what his comp is (I cant even run WoW on max settings due to video card) and I can run it on the lowest CURRENT settings and with more options I will be able to tone it down even more.

No this isnt the retail client. Its the beta 3.3 client. Mythic has even said that the retail graphics and graphical options arent in yet. Nice try at the lieing troll post copeland. If your gonna lie, at least try to do so about something mythic hasnt already adressed.

Mind you I didn't claim truth to what I said, I claimed I had seen no indication of it. You would be the first and I've seen people with systems way over mine complain about lag/graphics (and mind you this is on *low* as it is right now in beta) and the first reply those people get is not "Omg you should be able to run it fine", no it's "your system is crap you should upgrade".

So you can see why I consider your reply surprising so far :)

Ah the "ol' magical client" argument. There was another company trying that... Hm.. what's their name.. Ah, Funcom :). No offense but companies does not have one gazillions of clients with various degrees of less to more awsome graphics which they hide from players till launch day/next week/comming soon.

That being said, I have no problem with WAR's graphics, still think WoW's the best ever made for a MMO but that's just my personal preference. But champ, don't go around fool yourself like that, sure, there ought to be some settings and optimized gfx drivers about to be added  but a radical change in graphics, no way.

I doubt they'd ship the game without video options so I believe theres atleast one more patch before release and we'll probably see it on the 7th when the open beta is official.

Actually, you're wrong. The graphics on the Warhammer beta client are permanently set to the low settings. There is no adjusting them. They did this on purpose. So as far as graphics are concerned you will get more options on the release client. They do this to keep the client a lot smaller (no high resolution textures) and to focus on bug fixing.

Lord of the Rings Online did this as well. FYI

My system is over two years old...  an AMD 2.4 Ghz  Opteron with 2GB running on dual 7900GTX.

I run just fine at 1920x1080 resolution.  Quite smooth really.

Funcom had a bad betaclient on purpose aswell. So they could test things more. What would be the reason to not test the client with the better options avaible?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

You don't need to "test with higher graphics settings" because that's all on the users side (our local PC's), and has nothing to do with server connection (network issues, etc) and/or bugs in the actual game. Please use your head before posting.

Lord of the Rings Online did not include the "high resolution textures" in their closed and open betas. In the retail client they received the high resolution textures as well as DirectX 10 abilities. They also do this to cut down the size of the download for beta testers.
