Would WAR 40k have been better?

DarwaDarwa Member UncommonPosts: 2,181

Although I'm a huge fan of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, I personally believe that Warhammer 40,000 would have been a better choice for a mmorpg.

Why?

Because it's sci-fi of course.

Well, it didn't happen, so even if it would of been better, it's not going to happen now from mythic so there is no use talking about how it might of been. Besides, most players are happy with the game so why search for things that are better?

In the works with Vigil I think.

*cough cough* It -WILL- happen. So, as I said before, we shall see which one does better. Although WAR has the advantage of being done by Mythic, who have experience, while WH 40k is being done by someone with no MMO Experience if I remember correctly.

even if  40k came first I wouldn't play it...I generally prefer fantasy MMOs over sci fi ones.

Next on the list... the Fallout MMORPG that was starting before bethesda bought out the franchise, is still supposedly being made sorta. And then theres the merger with White Wolf and CCP (Eve), in which they are making a world of darkness mmorpg.

By that time, warhammer 40k wouldnt sound so interesting =P...maybe.

No need to apologise mate. Jaycee was just trolling again until people called him out, so he edited his post.

If you look up, I quoted his original post, and that's written in a different tone./

Warhammer 40k needs to be either planetside esc or the action is like tabula rasa style. Or will be a huge let down for me atleast.

Unfortunately, Vigil is full of a bunch of Funcom wannabes that don't listen to the fans. There was a huge outpouring of support for a 40K MMOFPS but they have decided to make it a MMORPG. Thus, they have lost the business of many 40K fans.

There is no reason to make 40K a RPG because nobody is going to want to have to pick special "spells" when using their weapons. They are going to want to smash through battle lines and use vehicles like in PlanetSide.

    Vigil = Fail

Only for the kids who never played real Warhammer.....But yes it's an interesting thought probably better off as an MMO  FPS.

I doubt that's true. MMOFPS games simply aren't popular.

They've got me as a fan now anyway :)

Yeah, because 40K doesn't have a fantastically rich setting with hundreds of possible locations, professions, careers etc, with dozens and dozens of interesting stories in the setting itself and so on and so forth.

Personally, I think the 40K universe is a great place for an MMORPG, if done right. Will Vigil manage that? Noooooo idea. Will have to see.

I'm certainly no kid (though I wish I were) and I never played 'real' Warhammer anyway because I thought it 'kids' stuff.

I just think the fantasy genre has been done to death.
