Hey folks, looking for suggestions on good Warhammer fiction. I realize the timelines are vastly different between WAR online and the tabletop game, but I'm assuming there's a lot of shared history the designers adjusted to fit the online story.
Any 40k novels come to mind that you really enjoyed or would add some depth to the online game? Growing up, I was aware of Warhammer universe, but never actually played (AD&D took up most of my playing time).
Thanks in advance.

Don't confuse the 40K universe and the Warhammer Fantasy universe - they both share some similarities, but for the most part are completely different beasts.
For Warhammer Fantasy, I would recommend the Gotrek and Felix series (William King) - not to mention Mark of Chaos (Anthony Reynolds), The Ambassador Chronicles (McNeill), and Grudge Bearer (Thorpe). Those are just a few that come off the top of my head, though.
The Gotrek and Felix series is probably the most well-done, IMO - I would start there if you wanted to brush up on a few things in Warhammer Fantasy.
Just my two cents.
I'm currently reading the 2nd Gotrek and Felix Omnibus. There's tons of lore in it and it's pretty good so far. Main problem will be that after you read it you will wish there is a Slayer class.
I am planning on running out and buying a novel in the ip this week... anybody have some recommendations on a book or site for getting a foothold into the story?
EDIT: I'm dumb, should have read above post more carefully =D

To be honest, i've read quite a few of the novels and they are all pretty good. I'd go with any of the series that happens to catch your attention.
Is their an online version to look up the lore (like thw WOWwiki)
I know their is a WARwiki but it doesnt seem to have a lot of lore info on it.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I've read the Malus Darkblade novels (dark elf) and was very impressed !
Looking for some good other warhammer novels too..
Since you asked so nicely, this one is a direct tie-in with Age of Reckoning:

And for the whole enchilada, browse the Black Library. You can find excerpts here so you can see what suits your fancy:

Enjoy.

Excellent find! Looks fairly new. Anyone had a chance to read it yet? May have to walk down to Borders at lunch tomorrow and pick it up.
Did a quick search and found this sneak peak for anyone who might be interested in the novel above. A 15 page excerpt: www.blacklibrary.com/pdf/empire-chaos.pdf
I picked up the first Gotrek & Felix Omnibus today, it's already very entertaining and the mood is great.

I really wish they'd let some of the side characters live, though.

Actually thats not quite right...
It is now accepted Warhammer Lore that the Warhammer world is a planet in the 40K universe surrounded in warp storms cutting it off from the rest of the Imperium of Man
However, Chaos (being the cheeky gits they are) have been known to have Chaos Space Marines turn up from time to time, Especially Khorne Beserker and Plague Marine Champions...
The best places to find Lore, ESPECIALLY Chaos lore, goto any Games Workshop and ask about the Collected Works of Chaos, it covers chaos from a Warhammer Witch Hunter and Warrior Priest side of things...
