WoW on Ebay already...lol

It is pretty funny how you can find accounts on Ebay already. The game hasn't even been released yet and people are scrambling just to get into a beta. I am curious about if these accounts are really selling, or the people aren't coughing up the cash.

Take a look at that link, there's tons of accounts up for sale. And if you have an account at Ebay take a look at the completed listings, there's dozens of them. People are actually willing to pay way more for a beta account that is not even going to last that long. How can people be so impatient and not wait a month or two to actually see how the game is?! That way you at least won't lose a ton of money buying a beta account.

Where you been hiding?  There have been WoW accounts on there for months.  And yes people pay upwards of $400 for one.  Theres not may accounts for sale now that its nearly time for open beta.

Its funny that the prices have droped so much. 2 weeks ago they were going for around 500 bucks.

I think its pretty sad, but even still if I had the beta and I really needed the cash I would sell it too.

There is an easy way for WoW or any other company wishing to have a beta testing to avoid this. They just need the users accounts to be IP address confermed. Acceptience Email would be sent out and a confermation must have the same IP listed on the application form, from there it would go directly to account startup. If the IP ever changes the beta would infact be cancled.

Its not even a big deal to do this, I dunno why they have not implemented a system like this or any system for that matter.

Are you serious? You do know that not everyone have static ip address, it pretty stupid to punish those whom can't retain the same ip. I mean by your method, blizzard have to exclude everyone on dialup connection.

Well getting into WoW beta is a privlieage..... so by not getting into the beta you would not be getting the privilage..... this would be in no way a punishment as you have stated.

What I think is stupid is the huge number of there beta accounts being sold on ebay.

For thoes on dialup.. Well they would be SOL, or there could be a seperate system that could be used for a small number testers. I mean really, people still use dialup? lol I thought that it went out the way of feathered hair.

Indeed it is sad to see this happening. And yes, it has been going on for months now. What is even more sad is this tradition will never end, unless the individual gaming companies grow some backbones and take care of it themselves. With every major game out there, this is happening. WoW is not the first, nor will it be the last, unfortunately.

And for the people that are selling, shame on you!! Get a real job and learn to make money the moral way instead of stealing from other people to gain your fortune. And shame on those people who buy it. If it wasn't for you, the market for ebayed accounts would not exist.image

Bah! imageRidiculous amounts of money, majority of them scams, I wouldn't do it, open beta will be in a month or two, it just wouldn't be worth, I would be so bummed to get ripped off the cash I need to purchase WoW!

wow can't you see the obvious problem between your method and dynamic ip address? Dialup connections is only one example for dynamic ip address, and why would you has a seperate system just for dialup? Also there still a very large market of dialup users, just because you stoping using it doesn't mean other has.

hey buddy, your way won't work cause some people can have their IP change daily on the same computer to prevent malicious hackers/spywares etc.    and also the game is gonna be released around november so i got something to say to ebay buyers....spend your money wisely.

I am a WoW addict. I would be willing to spend money to play in the beta test. I also am not crazy enough to spend that kind of money to play in the beta. Think about after WoW hits the stores for $50.00 plus 16 months of play (at $15.00/month) and change will be less than buying a beta account on eBay for $300.00.

Although, I am willing to admit that it is really tempting.

Looks like someone hasn't been keeping up with things.  WOW accts. have been on ebay for a long time, and people have been known to actually bid on them there.  Looks like Blizzard is not doing too much about it either.
