WoW & EQ2 Open Beta

Both of the official sites say wait for updates and there will be an open beta. Is there any actual hard core info on it or are these sites going to just have this lil message posted until release and simply say, "Oops, our bad"? If I get to test them both out I'd at least feel like I am not missing out on something I should've played since there is no way I am going to buy them both.

Open beta ended about a week ago for both games. There were banners all over this site, and on the official sites as well, not sure how you missed it.

EQ2's "open beta" isn't really going to be an open one. Basically it means that if you sign up and get LUCKY, you'll get in. And I'm sure they'll give preference to those who are on EQLive as well. In anycase, don't hold your breath on them.
WoW on the otherhand has stated since day 1 that there will be an Open beta. There's no official release yet, so it's hard to say when it will be. Somewhere in the next 1-2 months is the safest bet imho tho.
SOE makes decent games that appeal to nerds. Their customer service is run by jocks who bully nerds. Wonder why SOE sucks so bad...

In anycase monitor www.worldofwarcraft.com for WoW's open beta and keep watching whatever the hell EQ2's site is. I don't know it because I don't give a rats ass about SOE. Anyways keep your eyes peeled here too, because I'm sure they are gonna post the hell out of the open betas when they're announced.

There hasn't been an open beta for either of these games yet. I figure if WOW stays true to its current release date then you can expect the open beta to start about 2 weeks before the game goes live. Which is a real bummer since I get a week of vacation next week and I would love to spend it testing WOW.
Now I have to decide whether to reopen my PS account, Go buy COH or sit and play my xbox for a week.

Do the xbox thing. Starting a new mmorpg will just get you confused when it finally gets released, and a little break is always good ^^
Lately ive been getting more and more anxious about wow's release, earlier i havent really bothered but now it seems i cant get enough propagande thrown at me fast enough

I am also afraid there will be no EQ2 open for all beta. At least if they dont, I dont have to try both open betas and figure out what game appeals to me best.
I did closed beta for SWG and left on open beta since testreports seemed not to make any difference any more. I actually bought (yes shoot me) planetside and threw it away after a month.
As a result, if I dont get the chance to test EQ2, I wont take the risk to waste good money.
EQ1 - played it, loved it
AC2 - played it, liked it
DAoC - played it, allready outdated
SWG - beta test, did not buy
Planetside - played it for the trial period only
FFXI - played it for trial period only
Lineage 2 - beta test, played it for 3 months
...many games later...

I hope EQ has an open beta but I highly doubt it. They are going to be penny snitchers since they know that EQ2 will sell to a huge number of players. WoW said the beta will begin soon but in a recent post on the forums a mod said "...which will not happen for a while." while referring to OB.

SOE is running out of time to get their Open Beta going... only 14 or so days left until release (11/9/04)? About time for sign-ups atleast. I can wait, a friend of mine pre-ordered for release it so I'll see how it is in a couple weeks. I played with the character creation tool he got for pre-ordering... kinda cool but expected more.
WoW has a little more time, almost a month with the updated release date (11/22/04). Hopefully they will atleast have sign-ups soon and give everyone time to download the client. Maybe that's the difference between "...soon!" and "...not for a while...". Sign-ups soon with the actual Beta a little later. The only reason "...soon!" doesn't seem very soon is because 5 minutes seems like forever! What better way to keep fans in suspence?
Haven't heard much info about either but I's say the Opens will only last for a week, maybe two so I'd expect to see EQ2 start anytime and WoW possibly not until November 8th or so. I'm sure both companies want the Open Beta version to be as close as possible, if not exactly the same, as the release version out of the box. Both will also want to get as much work done on it before release as they can so sometime close to release seems likely but who knows?

At this point I am beginining to doubt an open beta for eq2... they are letting in people all voer the palce now.. yet I have still not gotten in.. they seem to like toying with people by letting them in when they have 56k.. most of them will just be finishing on the 8th when its released.. ;p I really want to play this game, all the videos I see either are boring and high quality or very poor quality and poorly done, but have alot of fighting. I would love to play the game before I can get like 100 bucks to play it for a few months... being a kid sucks

lol I guess I got my "Open Beta" today in email (aka Closed Beta Key). Just receieved a Beta Key for EQ2 for I guess the next two wweks. Oh well, as much as I love Blizard and WoW... Until they can get off there ... and get OB out I will give EQ2 a try and see first hand if it is good or sucks.

Well I just got my PC GAMER informer it say open beta for WOW will be soon really soon so keep an eye out for it at the homepage. I'm thinking open beta will be in the first or second week of november. but thats just me lol.
My input on WOW is... its ok its not all that great. i got the close beta played an undead rogue to lvl 25 was fun, all there is to do is LOTS AND LOTS of quest lol some of the items are nice. the game would be more fun if the Beef up the graphics for the trees and bushes, stuff like that. Other than that i like the character emotes and the looks. GOT TO LOVE THE GNOME DANCE EMOTE! thats what i think of WOW.
