This is most certianly untrue. I am aware of 2 people who don't have a legends account nor did they purchase Lords of Everquest and they have been invited to Beta.
I'm still jumping at each new email that I get on the email address that is linked to my EQ account and hoping that its my invite. It might happen

That's bad news. That means SOE has screwed us on our LOE deal. I'm still getting the runaround from CS, and the forum mods banned me for posting about it too many times. I have nowere left to turn at SOE, and I'm not the only one. . .one guy was even talking to his lawyer about what could be done since they didn't deliver what they promised. I just want my beta key. ;(
I can't help but assume that the fine print gives Sony a way out of the Beta promise. When you bought LoE, you bought that game. The beta was just an incentive. Anything that hasn't even started yet (in the case of EQ2 beta upon LoE release) must have a clause to protect Sony in case the beta didn't even occur, if nothing else.
I find it funny that someone is talking to a lawyer about this. In probably less than a couple months--much less time than it takes for the legal process to work--that person will be playing a more finished game, with a character he can keep. Not one that will be deleted at the end of Beta.
Then again, if companies can make promises to get people to buy their games and then not live up to them, that may be a dangerous precendent to allow unpunished.

I'm sure. But the situation here is that the DID have the beta, and many of us who were promised a spot before the open beta haven't recieved it. It sounds now like the open phase may be starting, so we can now never be given what we were promised.
Yes, it was an incentive to buy their game. What does that matter? If something they tell me convinces me to buy their product, and then turns out to be false, it is still misleading, is it not?
I really hope they just send me my key though. That would be better than a refund or lawsuit settlement.
Oh and I should mention - I changed my registered email address for my Station account off of my Hotmail account and onto my ISP's SMTP email. I'm hoping if they send out another round of the emails that might make a difference. I was kind of afraid to change anything, because I don't know how it will play on the automated system they send the mails out with. Probably woun't break anything, and might make the difference that will get me my key.
Has anybody else waiting for the LOE invite tried this? If you did, and it worked you probably won't ever read this post since you'll be busy in Norrath. . .but if you did, and still didn't get your mail let us know.
I was just being the devil's advocate about the person sending a lawyer after them. The fine print probably covers much more than just the possibility of the Beta not starting, like equipment failure (e-mails not going out) and things like that. I haven't read it, so who knows. Let the lawyers figure that out.
Don't let CS jerk you around - they CAN get it fixed. I had to call and talk to a supervisor and he was able to get it done for me. They tried to tell me there was nothing they could do, then they tried to tell me to email Dan Clifford, then the supervisor finally said he'd take a look if I emailed him all my correspondence to SOE regarding this matter. He promised he'd resolve it today, and he did exactly that. Thank you Gordon!
I believe it was people who pre-ordered Legends of Everquest who are supposed to have gotten Beta keys by now. Pre-ordering EQ2 does not improve your chances to get into the Beta for EQ2 .
I belive anything is possible just the luck of the draw really to get and and your system requirements if you have what they are needing you will get in.
I was in eq 1 beta since 4th phase. It was really fun - I moved from legends of Kesmai (one of the first mmorpg's to hit america) used to be free to play on earthlink. Anyway, Everquest 2 looks and sounds fun, I haven't been accepted yet... but i'm hopeful.

If you bought the pre-order, like me, are you guaranteed a beta invite?

Which will it be...EQ2 or WoW?
