I've been searching all over for a new computer, and it basically comes down to it with the 9800GT and the HD4850. I do like the HD4850 more, but the desktop with that in it would cost about 200 $ more then the one with the 9800GT. I tried to look up some reviews about them, but really could not find to much. What do you guys think? Should I go with the 9800GT, or try to scrape some cash for the HD4850. Keep in mind that by saving the 200 $ I can also buy a new monitor. Thanks.

Considering the HD4850 costs $170. I would buy one without a video card then buy the video card and self install it since they are not too hard to install. The HD4850 performs about 30% better then the 9800GT.
See benchmarks comparing 4850 against various cards, including 8800gts:

Performance vary depending on the game rendering engine. You'll see in some tests, the 4850 falls behind the 8800GT and GTS as well as even the 9600. In other tests (especially in resolutions over 1900x1200) its nearly as good as a 9800GX2

*edit* dont think the 9800GT is in the benchmarks. Personally I wouldnt recommend the 9800GT to anyone. sorry for the confusion
