Question about Monato Esprit

So I see the post here about this game and get to trying it out.  I'll try anything that has MMORPG in it's description whether it be f2p or p2p, I've played most of them, I'm a sucker.

So I register and while it's installing I do a little reading to know what I'm getting myself into. Skimming the basic information, I come across this little tidbit...

How MetaTIXTM Work

Monato EspritTM uses the e-currency MetaTIXTM as its in-game currency. You can purchase MetaTIXTM from the MetaTIXTM website and spend them in Monato EspritTM like you would "gold coins" in other games. There are a number of advantages to the MetaTIXTM system:

Free Gaming

There is no cost to download or play Monato EspritTM. Some activities in the game cost MetaTIXTM, such as taking certain elite quests, going on rides, and delving into special dungeons. Players have the freedom to spend as much or as little as they want on these extra areas. If you play conservatively, you could play for free. It is also possible to gain MetaTIXTM through trade with other players. If you play and trade well, it's even possible to earn a profit by playing the game!

Player-Run Economy

Most games control trade and the prices of items by including NPC merchants who buy and sell basic items at fixed rates. Players must sell heaps of useless "Vendor Trash" to merchants for the money to buy items. Trade between players is reduced to a secondary market. In Monato EspritTM, however, there are no NPC merchants and no useless items. Players take complete control of trade, setting their own prices and running their own businesses. Special trade functions and Consignment Stores make it easy for players to buy and sell with each other in hopes of turning a profit. Can you beat the market?

This alarmed me because I never played a game with this kind of system. Being as though I haven't played EVERY game out to date (f2p or p2p).  Can this kind of system work?

I do the tutorial quests, choose my class and pick up the next quests that requires 10 each of the 1k Metatix that the game gives you for free. I knock said quests out in succession only to find out that the rewards for these quests are useless now because the same items dropped from baddies, there goes 30-40 metatix wasted.

I'm stuck with a full inventory with no way to profit from it other then hoping some inexperienced gamer comes along and choose my gear from the auction house, among other people who are charging way to much for this silly, easily obtainable gear.

So what I'm understanding to this point is that they want you to pay p2p premium for f2p quality...say what?

I started to chime in on this discussion players were having at the main fan site for ME(because ME has 0 forums on the main website) but it seems there is more fanbois defending this craziness then there are people with sense.

So my question is, can a game with these type of limits last? Would you pay REAL cash to start and complete a quest when 99% of other games gives you quests for free?

Edit: The quests you pay cash(Metatix) for are NOT elite quests IMO, just quests that give weapons and armor with stats rather then you waiting  to get the same thing as a drop.
