I was just wondering how the state of the game would be 6 months from now when most of the players who started at the games launch would be deep into endgame. where does that leave new people coming in?
Will the starter areas be deserted or have just a few re-rollers?
Would you have to sit around waiting for more people to complete that public quest?
Considering you level with pvp, rvr, will the low level senarios, rvr be deserted and the high level ones be overpopulated?
Iam sure they have done something to take care of this problem. just wondering what it is. I ask this as work has kept me away from gaming and i wont be able to play WAR untill after mid January. I hope i wont be penalized for enteing the game late.

with so many careers and 120 levels to gain, I imagine that there will be a great spread of levels for quite a long time.

Will play: not WAR, HELLO KITTY ONLINE!!11one
Playing: EVE
Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE
I wouldnt worry about it too much. Most people will make their first class as a "Fluff" class (i.e. "Oh wow look at that pretty pet") and then make a support class (healer/tank etc.) once they hit max lvl. Getting a fluff class and a support class to max lvl is no easy task.
There's always a lack of something as well. Most people will re-roll if they are in half full parties waiting for one particular class before they can continue. It will take a long time for people to have one of every support class each.

120 levels? Are you counting guild levels and RR in addition to character levels?

I'm sure the game will change drastically when you finally get a chance to play it in January, but overall I would think that if you joined on one of the more popular servers, then every tier would be full of people. Unless there was a capital seige going on, obviously.
Also, even if the beginning beginning areas and tiers were deserted, you could still level from PVE and get right into the higher tiers very quickly. I don't think you'll have to worry about being alone.
Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

I thought there were only 40 RRs. Can we get another pad here? We're running out of space for conclusion-jumping.
I wouldnt worry too much about the game being populated, with the amount of work thats been done to it, and the amount of just all around fun and coolness of it, I'm sure it wont be like vg and only have higher lvl toons hanging out.
There are only 40 actual levels. The 80 RR levels give nothing but the ability to unlock gear and special abilities, no HP bonus, no stat bonuses, nothing like that, also, you gain RR levels at the same time as regular levels, meaning, for example, during the preview weekend, I had a DoK that was level 8 but RR 10. So, yeh, they don't stack or anything like that. You gain xp for both during PvP, but only regular levels give you any attribute bonuses. Soon as you hit level 40, you'll stop gaining character levels, but can still gain RR levels up to 80. Now, guild level is something totally different that effects an entire guild, not an individual, and I don't know enough about that to comment, just that it sounds rather nifty.
Wouldn't worry about that now. There are many classes to choose from which I am sure most of us will have more than 1 character. Though I am sure they will attempt to give us a content patch as soon as they can.
You're going to see a lot of high levels I'm sure. The thing is, there will be a push to just make alt after alt due to there being no raid content (can only do the same PQs for so long). So expect a lot of alts with high level toons, controlling the various tiers and whatnot, not just high level battles.
With the queue for logging in, expect high populated servers being force to cross server. As a lot of people will have to make alts on other servers just to play.
All in all, just like every other game. There will be a heavy load of high levels (WAR states that they are making it extremely easy to hit cap) within 60 days, and a lot of alts being loaded on less populated servers, so people don't need to wait in queues.

it wont matter, it will be just like DAoC as in still after 7 years ppl still make alts to play in the lower BG's. With different starting points and the different tiers, WAR will be alt-erific.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
Great and thanks for the replies just a few more questions..
Ill be starting the game with 3 of my irl friends. now i know the high level pve content is designed with 6 players in mind. just wanted to know if there was an average for the number of people required to complete a PQ or do they vary with levels or sizes.
Also, not that it would affect my decision to play the game, but what is the leveling speed like in the game?
PQ depends. I'm guessing the highest PQ would be 3-4 full groups. Since anyone can join a PQ it shouldn't be an issue.
One suggestion I will make, choose a low populated server when you start, so you'll have a smaller chance of getting in a queue to play.

Leveling speed is rather quick, Mythic said it shouldn't take too long, they're making it easy to level to 40, so people can get knee deep in the grit of the RvR combat. The PQ's vary in difficulty even from the beginning. Though, from experience, too many people is a bad thing. Trying to solo a PQ is dang near impossible all the way through also. If you're with your 3 friends, and have a few more people come and go, you should do just fine, PQs were very popular, and the fact that one can come and go as they please was nifty too. You don't have to come in at the beginning to get a reward.
If it stays the speed from beta than you'll level quite fast. In the time between when CE preorders got access to closed beta and when the characters got wiped before Preview weekend I got one toon to level 23. I did give up real life for that week though. Practically everyone in my guild already has their first or second alt picked out so there will be tons of them.
You will always need people in the lower tiers to take control of said tiers in order to siege the enemy city. That means players doing Open RvR, scenarios, and PQs in all tiers.
This is a game that will require at least some of the player base to play an alt at some point in order to further their main characters ability to get to the end content.
Whether things will go as planned will be seen. But unlike other games, there is an incentive for players to make an alt, which means new players should find others in the lower level zones 6 months in.
Yea aside from RvR, PQs are really what interest me in this game. The fact that you or someone else can just jump into one and help out without having to form a group is really cool. And rewards really don't matter that much to me. Working as a group and accomplishing something is reward enough.

PQs shouldn't be your main concern when purchasing WAR (although they ARE very creative and very well done). RvR is what WAR is mainly about

Yea iam sorry if my posts gave out an impression that iam more interested in PvE. iam here for WAAAGH!! ill see you on the field of battle..and hopefully on the other side
By that time all of the capitols cities will probably be in the game, and maybe 2 more classes, 2/4 that were cut maybe all 4 and when that happens people will re-roll in to a new class. Who knows.. ?
We'll find out in six months.

"Quick" is definitely relative.
By the time my WAR bright wizard got to level 12 I'd already seen and done more than a typical level 20 WoW character. It also certainly took longer to reach 12 in WAR than in WoW. And that was even with avoiding reading most of the flavor text for the simple reason that I wanted to save that for launch.
On the other hand, we've got Age of Conan. Now THAT is quick leveling. WAR is without doubt a lot slower than that.
But it doesn't matter how long leveling might take if you're actually having fun and not running out of content along the way. I'd be perfectly happy if it took two years to reach max level -- provided there was never a shortage of things to do at any point. In other words, the pace that's right for each game is directly proportional to the amount of content that the game has. WAR seems to have quite a lot of content, so I'm glad that it's going to take longer than AoC, and maybe even longer than WoW.
Getting new gear in itself adds stats, so either way when you go up in rr levels your going to get more powerfull, just not in the same way.
