Shadow Warrior Animation.....

I was only able to find 1 video of a Shadow Warrior in action, and I can't recall what stance he was in, but do SW's seriously lean back so dramatically for every shot? I really really wanted to play a SW, but not if it looks stupid like that everytime I shoot. Please someone make me feel better and say that is not the default animation for the default attack.

    Not the default but does often happen. I am curious about this personally. From what I saw (I played an SW) the longer the shot the more likely the 'lean back'. Some of the animations/effects were bugged in the last patch so I don't know if any observation is accurate. Goodness knows I was sometimes shooting directly at my allies in a group and the arrow ended up going over my shoulder to hit an enemy behind me. THAT was mildly disconcerting.

    lol, yeah i see what your saying every vid i see he leans back for every shot.

    but in close range he uses a sword, or tries to gain more range to get more shots off  so it kinda fits.

    all tho I saw i skill were he can shoot & move at the same time (skill where he moves while shooting more than once i think) & he didnt have  that gay elfy animation (i hate light elfs) dont take my word on it though.

    saw it on youtube, def got good DPS the shadow warrior, I look foward to killing alot of you

    Let me explain!

     

    Scout path = retarded animations

    Skirmish = FTW a la legolas running while shooting arrows

    assault = not using bow much, but pretty much same animations as skirm

    and yeah, the animations for scout and skirmish are totally different. Scout is the retarded 'shooting up at the stars' animation (which is bugged imo, because even if you're using a scout path ability and shooting at someone below you, you'll STILL not aim your bow downwards (if you ssee what i mean). Skirmish abilities are like how Hunters shoot arrows in WoW.

    A lot of the animations are being fixed/updated for the next phase of beta. 

    If SW will be part of that fix, who knows, but they are working on fixing the broken animations.  And I would consider the SW animations broken.

    I can only hope.... it's my only hope left.... I'm sorry but I can't stand playing that character if it's going to do that rediculous animation every time I use a special. Not even based on distance from enemy.

    They are putting new animations and fixing some others for game launch, remember, this is still beta and they will be adding more stuff and polishing a lot of the other stuff you do see.

    even if they don't fix scout animation, just roll skirmish ;) it's better for RvR anyways lol... ppl haven't realized how OP it is

    Well, if it's a far shot and if you've ever seen, you know, an archer in real life, the "lean back" is kind of necessary. But close up, nah .

    The main "power" shot uses that animation which is why you see it so much. There is another early shot that is a 1 second cast that you can move while charging up that also uses the animation. Both anoying agreed. Not something I am personally going to lose sleep over. They are working on animations and I feel pretty confident in saying they will continue to work on them after release. Not to many MMO's out there say "here is your animation deal with it". Most continue to change/refine animations years after launch.

    Personally I enjoy the 'aiming up' animation. Granted there are points where it gets extreme and sometimes just flat out not logical, the fact that the archer class actually arch is awesome in my book.

    Indeed it is awesome that it even arches like that. But.... somewhat realistically, atleast for the animation to make sense.... they'd have to be a blob on a hill before you have to lean THAT far back. lol. But I understand what you guys are all saying, that it's bound to change!

    I played a Shadow Warrior is CB and they are a somewhat annoying, but I always stood at max distance while firing in PvE so the animation didn't bother me too much. It looked like he was doing things the right way.

    But I always used skirmish stance in PvP, so that I could skip around the scenario pew pewing everyone.

    Oh, can you only work on 1 stance? Do you have to choose a path and you can only max one? Or can you max all 3 stances? I haven't played any of it so I have no clue how it works.

    You have three mastery paths, one tied to each stance.

    Skirmish is all about staying on the move.

    Scout is about max range stationary DPS.

    Assault is... a mix of both, but I wouldn't go this route, it's better to specialize.

    Skirmish definitely shines in RvR, kiting for the win.

    You get mastery points as you level, so you can put them in each mastery path to buff the attacks related to that path & also unlock new abilities.  By level 40 you will have enough points to entirely max out one path, and a few extra to go into a 2nd path, or you can put a little into two or all three path.

    All high elves have subpar animations. I'm not sure if they are touching up the animations before launch but if not, don't expect this game to feel any better than Lineage 2 if you play Elves.
