Another thing you might want to consider is that if you give them the extra money for the longer sub period, they will put that money in the bank and earn interest on your money.  If you pay the minimum payment, and pay a little extra per month, you keep more of your money longer, earning interest in your bank (if you have the right kind of account) for you instead of them.

Depending on interest rates, you might not even be saving the $1 or $2 that it looks like you are.

Just to make it a bit more complicated.

This is often what I've said too.  They only save you a dollar a month.  To me that is just not enough of a savings for a higher commitment.  I typically do the 3 month committment though because that isn't that long.  However, I won't do anything more than that because too many factors can play in, I'd rather pay the extra one dollar a month lol.

Indeed - and if you stuck it on a credit card and are paying a high rate of interest on it your savings go down.

Someone that has played BETA knows what  they are getting - yes why not pay upfront if you are sure.

At the end of the day whatever plan you go for - if you play more than a few hours a week mmogs are good value over plenty of things forms of entertainment you could be splashing your cash on.

After AoC I will never sign up for more than 1 month at a time on any game (luckily I did monthly on that one), gotta have the option to tell bad game makers to stick it if the product turns out to be crap.
