Sublime Permadeath completes VON 1-4

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=152875&highlight=sublime

It was the smoothest VON run I've ever been in. Not a single death. Not even in VON 3 with it's 9 beholders .  We allow rezes from players (just not shrines) but didn't need them.

If we can get a 2nd group through we may have a Dragon Raid in our future .

Congrats! I only did Vons a few times. I forget the one with the sonic bridge, something like that, and I remember it killing a few party members.

    Well done!

Congratulations!  I just finished the dragon raid for the first time, and VoN 5 was great.  VoN 6 was annoying (the cleric got all pissy and started swearing at us all), but VoN 5 was awesome.

Our VoN 3 didn't go quite as smoothly as that, but it went alright.  I was on my monk, so I saved on a roll of anything around 3-5+ against the beholders.  I still died once (dang unlucky rolls), but that was all.

Those quests are very cool.  I love the storyline, and the ways that you have to go about solving the quests is great fun, too.  The only thing I didn't like was my group for VoN 5-6, but meh.

Seriously, congrats. I know how hard that must've been to accomplish on basically untwinked charcaters using perma-death rulesets.

I imagine it took a lot of being carefull, teamwork and planning. Many powergamers take those quests for granted now, but I rememeber when a 2-3 hour Von3 run wasn't unheard of nor uncommon.....

Um... 4 of the 6 members that completed Von died in a party wipe this weekend

Thats actually an incredible achievement! Congratulations! It is very rare that I am in a group that does not die once in Von3!

What server are you guys on? Maybe I'll try out your PD, I used to play with Mortal Voyage PD, but I've stopped there and looking for a new PD.

Don't remind me of such good times! I'll only get more annoyed at these zergers!

I've learned that since the start of DDO, many people decided to enable easymode and zerg faster than zerglings from Starcraft.. But I have also learned that the communty that opposes this idealogy consists of the best people I've known in a game. It's good when you have 3 in a group trio'ing Tempest that took about 4 hours.. But man it was like nothing else! The reason I don't enjoy pugging as much as I used to is that everyone just zergs like the servers are going down in 3..2..1. It's a pain.

    /endrant

Anyway, DDO is an AMAZING game if you play with the right people and use teamwork as much as its available. In many PUGs I'll ask to coordinate something, say to clear a room mixed with casters/melees and they will respond "No dude its Ok my char is good against both, technically I can do it by myself" So you know what, I say "Ok, then while you guys are fighting, I'm gonna go take a bio break, I'm sure 'soandso' can handle this anyway".. Come back to a wiped party.. the guys says "I would have had them, but I ran out of HP before I got to the first caster" ... /squelch

    =)

LOL, so true. I catch myself falling to the zerg mentality also. I have been fighting really hard to not zerg myself but when the rest of the party takes off well......

Ouch.  See, this is why I don't think I could play permadeath characters.  I have enough trouble getting to level 10 because I wipe my own characters whenever I get bored of them.  If I had to wipe them whenever they died, too...........

Nonetheless, I respect the style.  Man, would have been cool to hear if you guys could beat VoN 5-6 as smoothly.

Congrats Bill and all of Sublime! That's friggin awesome!

I'm still terribly interested in doing PD. I think I've decided to take the plunge once Module 8 goes live. Now I'm just deciding between Sublime since you guys are on my home server, or jumping over to Argo for Mortal Voyage.
