Mythic It's not every day we see a developer give us straight forward updates with no bull$hit attached? Keep up the good work Jeff
This was the mode of operation for DAoC also, and I would expect no less from Mythic. I appreciate when developers take this attitude tremendously, but I don't feel that it deserves any particular kind of praise. After all, they are selling me a product, and if I glorify this attitude as going above and beyond expectations, I am effectively lowering my standards to an abysmal level. This isn't anything special. It's simply the way things should be.
Thanks for the confusion over EU open beta & the download manager that crashes at 99%.
Still exited about the game though

The download manager is FilePlanet's doing, unless the EU version is using a different method than the US one. (I downloaded using the US one.) And the confusion over EU beta was cleared up with plenty of time to spare, right?
GOA has said that they will take care of the 99% issue (it's not really serious, just close, save and restart and you at 100%), but regardless their WAR downloader is crap compared to uTorrent for example.
I appreciate their honesty and dedication, especially their respect for the IP. I think Paul, Jeff, Josh and Mark make a kickass team. Entertaining to watch and listen to, very passionate about what they do.. showmanship skills, respect for their competition, good communication with their players and beta feedback. They definetly rank amongst the best developers in my books.
Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

I agree totally.
I believe I've had a closer relationship to the developers in the last month of WAR then I have In the last 3 years of WoW.
I think you can actually "feel" they care about their game and the players.
If you check my history, I'm nasty on MMO's when they are bad, BUT I love Warhammer played the PW and just loved it. I was waiting for this game for soooo long and I figured that the PW would dull my anticipation a bit, but it was so good that I need it more.
Honesty goes a long way, second to developing a fun game. They suceed on both accounts. Way to go Mythic! I'm still counting down the days as if Christmas was coming *Grin*
I'm still upset about no Choppa, but yes, I will give Mythic mad props for not bullshotting us about it.
They get much for customer relations. I'll decide if I want to them for the game once I try open beta. Closed didn't impress me, but I didn't try very hard either.
If it's all the same to you, I'll withold my appreciation until I see what Mythic does with the game the first couple of months after release. Right now, what Mark is doing is preemptive damage control. The paring down of the classes and cities, plus the areas that plain feel like they received less attention are indicators to me that WAR is being rushed to release to meet EA's deadline.
Wisdom would suggest that it's in the best interests of the game and its customers to keep Mythic's feet to the fire and communicate to them that people will not continue to support sloppy work. Don't forget that EA and Games Workshop both have histories of pulling the plug on MMOs when they fail to realize the anticipated level of profit. Save the kudos for when Mythic finally delivers a finished, full-featured product. Right now, WAR is fun, but it is glaringly unfinished.

Really? Do tell, how do the Tank classes for Empire and Dark Elves play?

Do you really need to rehash this crap. I m simply stating that as the game is now with the classes or cities that were planned( not guarenteed) not in, is in a good solid release shape. I think what i said was good enough but if explaining was needed there ya go.

Hash and rehash until they fill the gaps. I know you're a CB tester with all sort of arcane knowledge not available to us mere mortals, but from what I saw in the Preview weekend, Empire players will quickly desert their first RvR area and Dark Elves will move to the Empire-Chaos conflict to further the imbalance. The suggestion that players make a "run" to the first warcamp and move to areas without Tanks is stupid and presumptuous. If players want to do that, fine, but every race should be able to play through their own racial area completely without having to "import" classes from other areas. That is the mark of an unfinished product. Taking out classes simply because they "weren't fun" sounds like an excuse. It's commonplace for classes to be re-evaluated, then tweaked after release. In fact, I can't think of one MMO that hasn't done this as common practice.
Frustrate customers in the first 10 levels of a game, and you're helping them decide not to continue into a paid subscriber status after the first 30 days is used up. Patting Mythic on the back for a game before it's even released is giving them the illusion that you folks will swallow any line they give you, which will eventually hasten the demise of the game. Hold Mythic accountable so people will feel good about playing if you really want to see WAR succeed. Lovestruck pandering achieves nothing.

I felt the opposite about DAoC. There were alot of stealth nerfs in the patches which made me pretty upset. Hopefully they don't do that with WAR.
You can definitely feel their passion for the game. It is nice to know that not every MMO company is blind.
The game rocks, and will do very, very well.
Take for instance them explaining the pathing issues in PW, they didn't bullshit at all. They knew they made a mistake, apologized, and laid it all out there. Great communication = satisfaction.

You probably played at a different time than I did. I played up until about the time Catacombs was released. I hear bad things about what happened to DAoC after Catacombs--and especially after Atlantis. But I can't comment on those shortcomings, as I didn't experience them.
If only Mythic would answer/respond to the email that was sent to add myWARspace to their "Forums and Fansites" section on the official site, I'd be a happy camper

this is one of the best things about this company

Damn you wern't kidding when they give you the short end of the stick in the UK.
But to be on topic I like honest people and even more honest companies. Thank you Mythic.
GOA has been fantastic, sorry about you 99% folk but my download worked fine
Just want to say that the 99% issue does not arise when using a 3rd party torrent client.
The link to the official torrent is http://download.goa.com/war/clientdl/wareuopenbeta.torrent

Everything worked out just fine for me... no crashes, nothing. got it all installed now
let's heard it for Mythic, and even GOA!

There's an update somewhere?
Please provide a link, can't see one in this thread or forum front page...

Nothing to thank them for yet but give me a polished game that's fun and then I'll give people thanks for their efforts. Sept 7th lets go !
