I have been waiting on Darkfall for a long time, and now I'm just shocked.
I can not believe how crappy the game play trailer looks 
Worst animations and combat I have seen in years, I hope you guys all enjoy the game (I really do) but today they have lost a fan.

All I have to say is: LOL.
I just LOL at all the people with 5000 posts @ the official forums that thought this would go through as a real game.
I pitty you sad people who think graphics = a game.. Who cares if it isn't on AOC or EQ2 level of graphics its the gameplay that matters and that game just looks like pure fun, I've been holding my breath thinkin darkfall would just end up vaporware but after seeing that trailer it makes me want to play it so bad because it looks "FUN" not because of its graphics, because of the core gameplay mechanics. You graphics people make me sick. Look at UO it was 2d yet the gameplay was outstanding.

The vid looks great for me on high quality download ( skip the youtube one).
Anyway this is a pre beta video. The naval battles look specially cool.
Now if the game mechanics & content follows, Darkfall might be the mmorpg i've been waiting for since years.

hmmm... as fair as graphics this look just a little over shadowbane level, and as far as the combat it looked 10 times worse then Shadowbane. just becuase you add a blood effect does not make it good.
the animations and combat where very very bad. In this day and age you got to come with a full package or your just toast and by the looks of the video it does not have good combat or graphics.
I do wish everyone luck and hope that Darkfall is everything your looking for, but from what I have seen this is not the quility that will be able to make it for most people.
I know everyone screams game play..... but UO had great game play and I can't stand playing that game anymore becuase its to old. Dark fall looks like it should have came out 5 years ago.

I for one thought the video lacked alot. It really didn't show 8 years worth of development. It really didn't show anything but combat. And the combat didn't make me go OMG. It was just ok. I know graphics are not everything, but the game should atleast look like they made an effort over the past 8 years. I think what made me frown so much about the video was the ground. It looked bland. EIther the guy who made the video turned off the show grass option, or they just are not adding it. But I saw no flora or vegetation at all. It pretty much reminded me of EQ1's land. I hope they update the graphics atleast a smudge. THey seem to be attempting it with the armor. They need to remove so much of the gloss effect though. What I really hope, is that this game doesn't screw you fans of the game. I know alot of you have been wanting this to be something amazing, and I hope they give it to you. But after watching that video, I can say that I was not impressed. It wouldn't make me get up and go place a pre-order by no means. Hopefully in time, things will change.
Actually what that video just proved is:
* 10 years old designs remain 10 year old designs.
* 10 years of developing is actually more like 1-2 years of manlabour and the rest is bureocratic and/or business crap
* 10 years old vapors have a bright future ahead of god knows how many vaporyears
You're still focusing on things that have nothing to do with the gameplay, animation and graphics.. I'd still be playing shadowbane today if it didn't die out like it did.. I loved that game. I've been waiting for darkfall for a long time and just thought it looked fun in the trailer, sure it looks a little bland etc but it's nothing that can't be fixed over time. You have to remember they are a smaller than normal dev team so they can't push the workload like your bigger companies like blizzard or mythic. But yeah I'll see you guys in WAR, war is fantastic been in the beta a long time.. But if I do get invited to darkfall beta I'll jump on that in a heartbeat to check it out but if it ends up being really really bad I'll be extremely sad because we have all been waiting for a huge sandbox hardcore pvp game forever, shadowbane had potential but ultimately people got bored and left so without people you can't really have a good pvp experience anymore.

As I understand game development, animations, textures and effects are the last things to be tuned.
If you usually judge a book by it's cover, fine but I think you'll miss out on something great. Something you really didn't have in WoW or will not get in WAR...Freedom.

This game completely blends insane fun/gameplay with lots of action and a good world with neat graphics.
This game allows MASS pvp with no lag. Do you understand that? Hello mister?
No lag, features, massive social activities.. Dude. That's awesome. That's the blend we've been waiting for. T

Wow, a person who thinks using forum formatting will make him elite. I care less what was written, you can love the game as much as you want. But please do us the favor, and talk with sense. I would love to play Age of Conans but it seems to be missing the other Conan's you refer too.
imo graphics looks fine, animation is strange, but i get used to it after few minutes.
actually im kinda happy that dfo doesnt look too good, thanks to that i'wont see many people who base their opinions about game mostly on graphic quality. sadly mainstream developers are (in majority) making games that take you few houres to complete in single player mode, multiplayer is imbalanced or just plane boring, the game itself doesnt show nothing new, but it sells because it looks all shiny and beautifull. if dfo will present great gameplay, a small amount of bugs i'll be more than happy, even if it doesnt look great.
The best PvP gameplay trailer i have ever seen.
I realy like the mounted combat and the battle about towns/fortesses. I don't care for the grafik and i think there are alot of people like me.
Counterstrike had bad grafik too, but people still like it.
I hope i can enter these big fights anytime soon
I do agree with the statement that the animations are stiff and that the graphics could be better.But then again,I've never understood people who play games because of their great graphics. Darkfall has got many great features that I'm looking forward to, so I don't really care about the graphics. They're better than WoW's atleast.

From a graphics and animation standpoint yes they are not the "norm" compaired to top quality mmorpgs these days but they have a tiny ass dev team so I mean its to be expected really.. and yes I said AOC and EQ2, I realize eq2 is a bit older these days but it still has impressive graphics in mmorpg standards. I clearly see the dated graphics and stiff animation in DFO but I kind of like the retro older graphics look, I'm sure its not done on purpose though lol.. Take WW2 Online for example it has terrible graphics but I love them and the gameplay anyhow. Just saying wait till you can actually try it then form an opinion on the game.

Honestly, after the travesty that was AoC, I'm not basing anything on the graphics. Ever again, I won't even form an opinion beyond like or didn't like them. And I liked them, they are good enough for me to play without it hurting immersion/enjoyment.
The fact that they could lose you as a 'fan' over a video is laughable, so I bet you're not signing up the beta and refuse to actually try the game simply because of the graphics? Good for you, I'll be playing and enjoying the game untill the new sandbox MMOs that are still in concept stage come out, possibly even after. The features of this game put it well above anything else I've played or at least looked into playing, and that's quite a few more than the little list to the left. Again, if you're no longer a 'fan' because of the graphics, you're the one who will be deserving of pity when the game comes out.

Battlefield 1942 & Counterstrike have dodgy graphics but they're (still) amazing & fun FPS.
i'd rather have mass RVR , naval battles & mounted combats with average graphics & No lag than a small laggy battleground with top nocht candy animations.

Lucky me I never cared a lot about animations and graphics. The only MMO I still play sometimes is Ultima Online and the game I played the most during this year was Final Fantasy Tactics.
I only get annoyed when the graphics are really ugly and depressing, like Runescape I guess. But I don't think that was this trailer's case.
