what does wireless-N wireless-G , MIMO and enhanced-G mean?
Hello?
The N in wireless is the new fastest standard. Fastest bandwidth is the N which stands for network. If you run a network setup then get the N, if you only run off 2 computers then stick with the normal 802.11 G setups. The G is for WiFi capability, not sure it is just a letter to market the product for the various changes. The MIMO is part of the N series which is built for big wireless networks, its just a feature that allows the N series to be better which I think is dual antennas on the in and outputs.
Stick with a regular G series if your using it for short distances in home up to 300 feet or so to keep its maximum bandwidth. Although N is really good for buildings and where you have multiple floors and thick walls.
Who let you in the VIP section?
I'm pretty sure wireless-N refers to the new draft N (802.11N) standard which allows wireless speeds up to 300mbit, wireless-G (802.11G) will only give you 54mbit.
So it depends on how fast your internet connection is, if you're on 100mbit you will be limited by the G router.
You also need a wireless card that supports either N or G or both depending on your router choice.
For a 54mbit router I would suggest linksys wrt54 and for up to 300mbit chose dlink dir-655 (yeah i know, dlink used to be crap but this router actually works)
Speed mainly but better security also.
B = 11Mb/sec (2.4 Ghz)
G = 54 Mb/sec (2.4Ghz)
N = 248 Mb/sec (5 or 2.4Ghz)
