Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how many hit points each class has on average at level 40? The reason why is it is hard to gauge how powerful various abilities are if you dont know how large the pie is.

How does max hp make it harder to gauge the relative power of one ability compared to another?

If Ability X does 250 damage and Ability Y does 460... does it take a lesson in rocket science to figure out which is more powerful?

4-10k depending on how you stack your gear/renown/tactics/buffs.

Believe my DoK had 5k, my chosen had 7k.. my sorcerer had 5k.

Ok *puts on teaching hat*, you understand that each class has carrers? You know that you have to invest many points in order to gain abilities?

So the question is it WORTH it to get those damage dealing abilities. Or should one invest in more defensivly oriented things.

In order to determine this, you have to get a feel for how many hit points people have. If for example a 1600 dmg ability I get for investing 16(or so) points only brings a target down 5% of his hp, I'd likely pick a defensive skill from another path.

Now I have to breath in and out before I say something mean to you :P

Cool thanks, rvr battles will be awfully interesting when folks get high dmg ae abilities. One group being able to gank anyone withen 30 yards.. fun fun!

I have a feeling that folks will never want to be next to each other.

    *Puts on teaching hat*

It's not relevant how many hit points a given class has when gauging RELATIVE damage of one ability to another. Nor is it relevant, under the current circumstances, trying to deduce survivability, as skills and abilities play more a factor in this than do maximum hit points. Much more. In fact, maximum HPs is very, very close to completely irrelevant, unless you're assuming that that awesome defensive skill that absorbs 500 incoming damage will somehow absorb more or less if you have mor hit points.

Truth is, neither maximum HP nor maximum AP are anywhere near as important as the rate at which you can recover those values or the amount by which you can reduce expenditures of each. You're better off asking about general survivability for a particular class than you are asking about max HP. You'll discover this about 3 seconds after you enter the game, if not sooner.

You have a small point about how fast a skill refreshs being important.. but I can look up that information. What I could not look up was the hit point information.

Well I figure YOU will find out how important hp is when a group of squig herders all do 1.6k ae dmg around you.

firstly those 1600 dmg ae moves are rank 4 morales, it takes a while to even get your morale to rank 4 as it charges as you fight.  not to mention everyong and their grandmother has anti morales on at 40 cause they dont want you hitting 20+ people for all that dmg each.  then you have the effects of wearing resist gear, all the wonderfull pvp gear packs resists, and then you have your resist debuff careers if they do their jobs like the chosen aura magus spell engineer grenades ect ect.  the rank 4 morale abilities are neither worthless nore the god of all that is good theyre just there to be used situationally to proper effect by well setup armies to do what they are meant to do.

is it the 7th yet i need my warcrack

I have to add in that i rolled a runpriest during the preview, and was discouraged to note in my first PQ that I was all but useless. When everyon has 800+ hitpoints, the only thing my little 45 point heal did was draw aggro. Lots and lots of aggro, of course that made it easier for the ranged dps users to wail on the MOBs, not so much the melee users, as I was running around like a madman. :)
