Favorite WAR moment in CB or Preview Weekend?

For starters, I love how everything in WAR is centered around war, especially in the beginning areas.

My favorite moment happened during the preview weekend, near the Dwarf Ch. 3 area where the Dwarf and Greenskin camps are connected by a bridge and down in the valley is a PQ where both sides have an objective.  Usually the greenskins are usually the ones to complete it, since they tend to outnumber at least 3 to 1 for that PQ.  It's not an RvR area, but there's almost always a flagged person, which usually ends up flagging a few others.  You also get flagged if you cross the bridge from one camp to the other.

Further up on the hill is a PQ just for dwarves and I was in a warband of 9.  After we completed the PQ a few times, we decided to rush down the hill and surprise the Greenskins horde.  It worked marvelously.  We plowed into their group from behind, killing all those who were flagged.   When the others saw their group getting attacked, they joined in and were slaughtered.  We did very well for the odds, but with the respawn being around the corner, we were quickly overwhelmed and decimated.  The melee continued for about 10 minutes, but eventually died down and people went back to doing the PQ.

I haven't had that kind of fun in a long time and many others echoed that sentiment.  There's more than one area like that and when the game goes live and floods with players, I'm looking forward to the many skirmishes that are bound to happen.

I remember one game, I was playing a Zealot and we were trying to take a keep.  Alot of our guys were running back, and I just stood there looking at all the Order cheering and chasing after us, and I threw heals on everyone that ran by, then suddenly a bunch of people with HoTs on them stopped, turned around charged back.  I kept up throwing heals left and right and a few DoTs, and we ended up overrunning the Order.

It's funny how a few heals here and there can cause people to fight that much harder.

Valekrin: I was also in the CE pre-order beta and experienced a similar exchange at the Dwarf chapter 3 area.  Both opposing sides were mixing together working on PvE objectives, when someone got interfered with on a kill and flagged themselves RvR in irritation.  Suddenly about 30-40 people started flagging RvR all around and it turned into a 1 hour battle royal between the Orc and Dwarf camps.  I had a blast playing it, and applaud Mythic for devising the dynamic that naturally led people to convert so seamlessly from PvE to PvP play.

    I hope this helps.

2 moments stand out to me.

    1) Organized group mauling a zerg that outnumbers us at around 15 to 10.  Watching the zerg hit the wall of swordmaster and then get sliced up by the shadow warriors was awe-inspiring... and convinced me I was definitely right for wanting to play this game.

    2) I was chasing down a Dark Elf when I got too close to their shore on the Island of Bones.  2 ballista hits sent me back to my shore...  I couldn't stop laughing about it.  It was AWESOME.

Yes i play healers a lot.   Strange how the healers are often braver and more tactically aware than a lot of players that choose melee (incoming....)   Melee classes need to be prepared to die when they are part of an assault team and good melee players use everything at their disposal to buff and heal themselves when doing so buys others time and makes them more flexible.

Some truly attrocious healers and ranged dps out there in the general population too.

It is too much to hope for that even wit hmore hybridity we wont see the armchair thicko generals dictating how everyone should play their class so they get to play in the way they want to and damn everyone else.

Anyone know if Leroy Jenkins and Chuck Norris are going to be playing WAR ?

    My favourite moments in-game....

    Disciple of Khaine Moment

..I was in a 3 man group doing a few missions as well as the PQ's those missions were lached with and we got to a totally deserted PQ which had lorebook keepers and Swordmasters(Champions) as enemies.

As I went through my normal business of killing and doing my missions, I aggroed a six man mob (4 lorebook keepers, a champion and another ENPC that had a name but not necessarily a champion as well and with no teamate close-by it was going to be one blessed ride. I was able to survive the onslaught of spells and swords whilst aggroing even more of them because my kill speed was slower than their respawn time. At the end I got rid of all of them in time to get away before more of them respawned.

After that my Witch-elf teamate had the odacity to tell me I was slow getting to her when she needed help.....my reply [sarcasm] " Oh i'm sorry, i was too busy dealing with 4 lorebook keepers and a champion whilst aggroing more of them to bother with your tight little butt" [/sarcasm]. Lets just say I got the respect I deserved after that.

    Warrior Priest Moment

I was more into RvR with this char, simply because there were more people running around that needed killing.

So today the Order were getting there arses handed to them as always and I was watching as everyone was doing the tug of WAR(lol) charging forward, pulling back, charging forward again and I, who is a main PvEer, just wanted to finish my quests and move on to the next area but nooooo.. the destruction just had call upon the wrath of sigmar's hammer.

So, I went for the second flag near the beach that was controlled by destruction with a Swordmaster and another Warrior Priest from my Warband and instead of barging through the front door we went from behind, climbing up a hill and stealthing and observing our enemy (even though what i was actually doing was checking in my inventory for the parchment I was supposed to right-click, lets just say i did that), next thing you know this witch elf spots me and come charging down and not far behing are 3 other chosen and marauders. We took down the chosen (although the other warrior priest died fairly quickly), and the elf and ate the zealot that came running to their aid for desert. But just before we settled down to call victory and how awesome me and my SM partner were, a group of Orcs showed up and we were slaughtered due to the amount of spellcasters that followed suit.

In hindsight, even though i didn't finish that mission, I definitely know the power of my determination(Orcs + Zealots and the Wrath of Sigmar's Hammer) my Swordmaster even praised me for lasting so long while the other guy was dispatched before he even started.

    This is not a game.

Mm, my favorite moment was when I was playing a witch hunter in tier in CB . (big surprize right with the sig and avatar and all). I got into the scenario and we are fighting over the the fort in the middle of the map so I'm level 11 big and bad owning it up, so I go incognito (the stealth for a WH) and end up killing like 4 zealots and a shaman in one life, using torment (its a backstab like move that ignores armor if you use it from the back). I was like yeah, A witchhunter life for me.

Memorable moments so far from WAR beta/Preview Weekend:

The first time I blasted enemies in RvR with a siege weapon  Bwahahahaha!

There was an excellent PvE dwarf quest in the Tier 2 zone (I think) where there's a very entertaining orc semi-boss at the top of a tower.  I liked how it could be done with a group but one could solo it if you were careful.

The High Elf PQ in the Tier 1 zone where you fight that big black dragon that comes out of the Black Ark at the end.   One time we really didn't have enough people to finish it, but we tried anyway.   We got wiped but I still have a fond memory of my character fleeing for their life with a massive dragon chasing behind them

And the first time I got involved in an organized keep attack was simply awesome.   Had no idea what I was doing apart from killing anything with red over it lol

There were some great times to be had Preview Weekend to be sure. I think my fondest memory was as a hulking maurader exploring the lands. I had walked through golden fields of wheat slaying a few guards as I went, and I came into a small grove where wolves prowled. I met up with some type of witch woman and a huge chosen one where we stopped a lycanthropic cult from rising in that area. Afterward they followed me as I ran into the thickest wood I had ever seen thus far. The forest was absolutely engulfing as the light became no more and huge sweeping pines and twisted trees filled my view.

I remember the deeper we went, the less light there was. Beams of sunlight filtered through the trees and little wisps and glowing things were everywhere. The forest felt inhabbited by magic itself. We came upon a town in the wood, the guards there had been alerted to our pressence. It was an english lord's fortress. We had stumbled into a raid upon the forest village and prompty set about sacking it! Slaughtering guardsmen, and breaking open the doors to go up many flights of stairs, we ransacked all. The dark elven sorceress was freezing people when we emerged outside again, they met horrible deaths as my hand turned into a sword and I broke the ice a bit! Plowing through the tougher ones we awaited the Lord of the keep. He came out, tall as can be, and fully armored, shouting at us and making noble delcarations. His words were short lived as each one of us took a lord protector down and slew them without mercy. We surrounded the Keep Lord and ran him through several times over. Fires were burning, everyone was dead, and the raiding party was victorious. The echos of our victory cries carried through the dark wood. I miss those times and places..

I only played the Preview Weekend, but I have a few fond memories already.

At rank 10 I was doing tons of open RVR around the Festenplatz(?) area in Chaos VS Empire with my Sorceress and a few friends. Destruction had pushed Order all the way back to their warcamp spawn zone, and I got killed by one of the cannons. On my back through the town in the middle, I saw a lone bright wizard trying to hide. Eventually he saw that I was looking for him and ran, jumping over a cliff down onto the beach area. I chased him, and no one else was around there, so we faced off, one on one. He was rank 11 and obviously much better than me skill wise, but that fight with my mirror was really, really fun. We were both casting fireball and doomblast(?) at the same time, same animation. It was pretty cool.

Another open world RVR moment from the same area, Order had made a huge push through the town and were fighting like savages. One of our black Orc tanks charged in, and was hacked to death by swordsman and ironbreakers, but not before we threw off dozens of our AoE spells on that group of fools. They were stupid enough to continue circling around our tanks and blocking their allies paths. My final AoE spell fell on that group and killed at least four of them in one hit.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

That would be when I, a 23 WP, kicked 2 Chosen's asses (They were 20ish also, I think). I've also never seen Chosen try to run untill then either :).

one of my favorite memory so far from beta would have to be the time i was playing my Warpriest, I was going into the T2 PvP zone looking for some action when. I went off to a flag that was out of the way and thought that i might be able to solo take it just as i was about to turn the corner and head into the crypt out burst 20+ destruction. I emeditly pressed my self agenst the wall next to the door and stood there for about 30 seconds as they all filed past me. not one of them turned around or even saw my. After that I followed the group and gave out their position to the rest of the order in the zone. It was so cool.
